LEGO Deals 3

I actually thought you were trying to post it that way to fool the lurkers...  I guess the new AWD sets go fast.

On a separate note, my target had  the kings castle, tmnt van, and galaxy titan for 30% off.  Good ones to keep an eye on for the next drop.

Nah if I were trying to piss off the lurkers I'd go "Set XXXXX is on sale for 70% off! Here's the link..." and then the link would go to some gay porn site.

Went to two Targets today and not even a hint of Lego clearance.

The Lego aisle in the first looked suspiciously light on Lego, kind of like after Christmas.  But there were still sets of all kinds with no clearance.

Lone Ranger is now retired.  That didn't take long.  Not that I was expecting more out of the line.

Lone Ranger being retired so soon is sad. The sets are nice. Even Monster Fighters got a second run after LEGO ran out of glow-in-the-dark ink.

So.... How's The Lego Movie? I'm taking my daughter tomorrow in the morning, she's excited!

I think this might have done better if it was just a western theme, I honestly don't know how sensitive people are with "Indian themed" toys and I think this may have been a good excuse to bring back a western type theme but I also wish it would have done better.

Aww crap. Didn't realize the Lone Ranger line died. Knew it hit clearance at some stores but I totally slept on it disappearing. Hopes of getting the train for cheap are dashed. Didn't find any of the sets in the latest Walmart clearance.

If you really wanted them you should have picked them up during the sale at TRU right before Christmas, I regret not jumping on the Castle sets. I wish you the best of luck in finding them at Wal-Mart, not sure if the stock checker is accurate or working for that line but it's always a start.

I never have good luck with Walmart's stock checker.

Thankfully I got the stage coach and town sets during that TRU sale. Those were the two sets I really liked. I only ever bought one of the army builder set and that was when it was first released. If only they had another army guy in place of the Lone Ranger. After all, if he's the lone ranger why do kids need six of him?

The mine set is still available on Walmart.com and Amazon.

Not as excited as I am! Dat Metacritic score... Seriously though, I'm taking my boys to the TRU build today and then we'll catch an early non-3D show tomorrow. I'd kinda like to see it in 3D but my younger boy just keeps taking the glasses off.

Also I wanted to mention something that may be of use to some of you. I'm a B&N member which means I get 10% off anything and around 3-4 times a year get 20% off coupons that stack. I noticed that aside from the hillllariously overpriced minifigs at 5 bucks that everything else is standard MSRP. That means that I can get 30% off anything they have, new or old. Interestingly enough, my B&N has really old sets (Alien Conquest, Prince of Persia, Harry Potter) so if you are looking for something retired and don't want to pay markup, having one of these memberships may be worth it to you. I'm going to be able to finish out my Monster Fighters collection at 30% this way and thought people looking for other discontinued sets my get lucky walking into their store.

Theme sets rarely get a second year without a movie release. However most themes normally last at least a year. Monster Fighters must have sold better than Lone Ranger because instead of retiring the sets they made a second run without glow in the dark printed piece.

I need the LR train, tent and army sets. Those are the three that were never on sale enough for me to buy. I wish the train didn't have track because the train itself is lacking. Needs another car.

Damn mobile CAG... Where is the edit button?

Lego never really says what themes will continue, you find out in January (leaked pictures / set list in the fall) or toy fair.

Like this year, no Castle or GS sets, which seems weird to me. Hopefully Ultra Agents is a one and done because it's so bad.

2015 we will get Chima, NinjaGo (rumor to be a movie) and maybe new Space and Castle sets because of no movie sets (most likely). Star wars should be interesting and Police and Fire sets will be fighting each other. ;)

Did anyone receive a special VIP invite postcard in the mail? I'm not sure if this is everywhere, but we have an event at my store next week in which a very exclusive set will be revealed! I believe an extremely limited of VIP members were invited (those that spend a ridiculous amount per year). I'll keep you folks posted on more details during the week. It definitely should be exciting!

I took on the journey of piecing out a Green Grocer and I've finally finished. Wow what a freakin' ride and the crazy part of it all? It only cost me about $50 for the pieces I was missing. Oh yeah!  :D/

I got an email I think but not a physical card. The Green Grocer is the only retired modular I'd consider getting. Did you finish an incomplete set or use stuff you had and purchased special missing pieces?

If anyone is interested in buying just the Iron Patriot figure from the Walmart Exclusive version of Lego: Marvel send me a PM.

I have one NIP that I don't want and would be willing to sell/trade.

The set that will be revealed s most like the big pirate ship boat from the movie.  It will also most likely be shown the week after at the NYC toy fair, so not that big of a deal.

The movie has been doing really well, $17.5 million yesterday alone which is huge for a February movie, probably 58 to 63 million for the weekend.

I just got back from the movie, the movie was ok but they could have shortened it up a bit though, it seemed to drag on a bit. Damn that catchy song too.... I'm sure this movie will make a lot of movie this weekend especially with a holiday on Monday, giving it an extra day for most.

I thought it was great...just got back from the TRU build and then watched the movie. Length didnt seem to bother me, thought it was pretty solid.

What holiday?

Lol yeah I think hes thinking a week ahead, Presidents Day is the 17th.

The TRU car build was pretty hectic and I dont really live in a big place...i thought they'd have plenty but they ran out by 1pm and my daughter got the very last one. There was still 20+ kids behind us and they didnt even bother to tell the people behind us that hey weve only got X number left so dont wait in line for 20+ minutes.

I meant to go to TRU today and see if I could grab a free car, but didn't bother because those things are always a mess.

But I also wanted the 20% off the ice cream truck.  Oh well, with the movie being  a hit it won't run out anytime soon.

That's likely the only set I'll care about unless some other Modular somehow pops up this year. I hope upon better inspection it lives up to the awesome box image.

I was lucky to find a Fire Helicopter for 9 bucks at Target today. It had to be a random return or something as it was cleared out long ago. I'm trying to get where I only by the big stuff with my son anymore since I feel like they have the best return, even at full retail. The post Christmas clearances I keep running into make it very difficult though.

Speaking of, I was in B&N yesterday and they had a Death Star at MSRP. I haven't signed up for the kids' club yet, which gives you a one time 30% off with no restrictions that would affect this purchase. Should I go for it?

Wife's a teacher and she's off on Monday, I just know I don't get these bank holidays off, I just assume most people are off.

Picked up a few sets on walmart clearance last night. The Lone Ranger mine set for $35, Spongebob flying dutchman for $17, and a few series 9 minifigures for $2 each. They also had some Galaxy squad sets for good prices, but the only part I'm interested in in those sets are the insectoid things. I'd rather just get the parts I want on bricklink

Picked up my movie tickets for the Lego Movie, received two robot figs. Anybody want to trade for the Emmit fig?
Yes please! My wife and I bought our tickets in 2 purchases just for something like this. I'm unfamiliar with trading here on CAG, though. Send me a PM?

my son put together the Hive Crawler today. It's pretty awesome.

Took the family out to see the movie today. I was worried my 2.5 year old would get restless, but he loved it, especially "kitty!". I thought it was great and it had lots of neat inside jokes. When they revealed the "KRAGLE", the whole theatre started cracking up.

Awesome, to hear. I was going to send my 2.5 year old to grandma's for the same reason but his brother really wanted him to go. They are both huge Lego fans so hopefully he'll make it the whole way through.

I pieced out about 80% of it from my collection. I had to buy extras of 1x4 Bricks in Sand Green to make up for the lack of 1x8 Sand Green which goes for almost $4 a piece on BL. I had to buy a few extra special pieces here and there (1x2 SG Brick w/groove, 1x2 SG hinge), but not many so it wasn't too expensive. All in all, it was my first pieced out set and I'm very content!

I'm afraid to even think about a Cafe Corner or Market Street. Some of the Door elements go for about $20+ a pop alone, ouch.

Yeah, he should be fine. There are a couple of scary parts at the beginning though so he sat on my lap and stayed there for the rest of the movie.

Took the kiddos to TRU but we couldn't make it right at noon.  They were wiped clean by 12:30.  They had set out various boxes of left over bricks from previous promos.  Nothing special.  Kids weren't even interested.  No real special pieces to snag either.

Was up in Indy today so I stopped in the LEGO store.  Grabbed the Town Hall.  That puts me at Fire B, Grand E, Pet Shop & Town H.  Just the Cinema and Parisian to get all caught up.  Also grabbed 3 minifigs.  Got a Doctor with a needle which is cool.

Thought I'd hop onto LEGO.com and grab the Mars Rover with my VIP points from today and it's not available.  Bummer.

I'll have to look at seeing if piecing together a Green Grocer is even feasible.  Sounds like a challenge.  Care to post a pic of yours ItzTitoYo?

I definitely will. I just finished the first level so as soon as I'm done I'll post the completed set.

I believe the Rover will be online for a bit and make it into our stores much later. No ETA though, sorry.

I went with my son to TRU we got 2 of each car, emmets car and emmets flying car. They had a raffle for all to enter. I won a 3ds Lego movie game, I was so excited. Someone else won a 10 gc and Lego flashlight keychain, and someone else win a big Lego movie Lego set. I also helped a grandma feel for series 11 minifigures. She was getting them for her grandson.

Just got back from the movie, it was pretty good.

Also stopped in my 3 nearby Targets today.  2 of them had nothing on clearance, the third had all of the ir remaining Hobbit sets on clearance.  I grabbed all of their Dol Guldur Ambush sets (More Orcs, MORE!), a Council of Elrond (They had several more), the only Mirkwood Elf Army I saw, and the only Laketown Chase I saw.

I can't see the movie because I don't have children and none of my friends want to see it.  Some think I'm insane.  I a but not for LEGOs.

Hit up the Wal-Mart clearance. I am late to the game on collecting the Lone Ranger sets so I was excited to find the Sliver Mine set for $35. They had the Train set with a tag for $49 but none on the shelf.

you can't go to a theater alone?
And be the creepy guy with no kids? No thanks.

Plus I have to put up with assholes and their children in the theater. I'll wait awhile and then watch it.

Good news, almost 70 million dollars on this none holiday weekend. I see sequel coming in 2015.

Yep and the budget was only $60 million so its looking good. Second highest opening in history for a February release.

The WB president, I think it was, already came out and called LEGO a franchise, so clearly the second (and 3-8) will be coming soon.  LEGO already said they have ideas for many many sequels.

Hey, Hey.... Blow me!

It really wasn't that bid with the kids in the theater, I don't know how it is in your area but it was quiet in the theater I was in and it usually is.

... whoa, whoa ... what kind of theater is this =-p
Yeah I want the address. Is there a lake nearby for some girl on girl action?

The 90% of assholes have no clue how to control children. I saw Avatar and there was a woman in the back who had maybe a 6 month old cry off and on for 1-2 hours before she left and another woman clapped and went "Wow, there is an idea, staying home with your new born".

I'll wait two months and own the DVD for less than a movie ticket will cost me. None of the theaters in my area were giving out free things (that I know of)

'Eh.  We have a Carmike and saw it today for $5 a ticket.  Not a bad price if you're going solo.  Packed house.  Good mix of kids and adults.  I have two kids so I'm used to theater experiences that cover the spectrum*.  This one was fantastic.  Perfect kids all around and no adults playing on phones.  As for the movie, it was pretty awesome.

Hey Itz, is there a site that recommends other sets to piece out sets?  For example: buy the Pet Shop and you'll get xx% of Green Grocer.

*saw Avengers opening weekend.  9:30pm show.  You'd think you'd be safe that late, but no, some douchebag brought their two children under 5 to that showing.  Sat directly behind me.  15 minutes in(after the customary 20 minutes of previews) and they were begging to go home to bed.  Whined the whole time, mind you.  Mom and grandpa both lacked any theater etiquette.  Spoke & yelled at the kids at full volume.  They both kept telling them to be quiet and eat their candy.  Mom threatened to never take them to a movie ever again.  They all stormed out making a scene.  I wanted to smack her.  Hey bitch, they are toddlers at a PG-13 movie that begins after their bedtime and you're pumping them full of candy.  They weren't in the wrong one bit.  Parenting fail on every level.
