LEGO Deals 3

That's more in line with a creator set piece wise and detail wise right? That wood exterior looks pretty cool though. If it fits well with modular I may be tempted to get it.

The hanging tires kinda 'make' the ideas version though. Any news on a release date? I think I'll be getting this one.

LEGO said in the fall.

I made my $75 purchase to get the two Batmans and I forgot to order the darn Easter set!

Learned something interesting today at the Lego store, Store exclusives at their respective store will remain a store exclusive and only sold there or on LEGO.com. I guess they are testing it out with the 3 Lego Batman sets, Scarecrow Chase, Penguin Car & Arkham. I'm unsure if there are any other sets that are store exclusives as well that are not being sold in store at the Lego store.

Yeah that's a new rule for the new year. I think that is a massive mistake. People might be going to the store to look for a certain set thinking it's The LEGO Store they will have it and then being told it's a Walmart store exclusive, but you can buy it on line! Do they still give out free shipping slips?

I remember the monster fighters target exclusive the zombies but don't remember if it was on lego.com at any point. Only monster set I never picked up because it never clearances and went up a ton after it went oop. Do store exclusives still tend to appreciate in value quickly?

I think it depends on the set and theme, before they used to plaster "exclusive" all over the box. Now it's hard to tell, unless someone tells you or you tend to notice that it's not available at other stores.

Yeah when I was trying to track down the Arctic Roller I found out about the new change to the store exclusives.

I just got one of those free shipping cards when I went to the monthly minibuild the other day.

The Monster Fighter Zombies sets I think I only saw in the Lego Store once and it was always sold out there. I happened to luck out one day and got the last one in any area Targets.

That's why I think the new rule is such a lame joke, it makes no difference, but instead of getting the set the day you go to the mini build you need to wait 10 days to get it. Maybe then you don't buy it. Really stupid idea, but that's LEGO post 2010, just a lot of questionable ideas.

My favorite is I remember everyone having issue with the Raptor set, I think it was a Walmart exclusive with Jurassic World. There were at least 100 at the Victor Store the summer of 2015. the whole back section on the side from behind the cashier to the door to the stock room was full of them. They probably go for quite a lot now.

From Boxofficemojo....

It was the best weekend at the 2017 box office so far, led by WB's The LEGO Batman Movie along with fellow newcomers Fifty Shades Darker and John Wick: Chapter Two topping the box office in that order. But along with the new releases, five of the weekend's holdovers, especially Lion, held on extremely well, dropping 35% or less compared to last weekend. Overall the weekend top twelve came in just a fraction below our overall expectation of $180 million as the top twelve combined for an estimated $176.9 million.

At #1, WB's second film in their LEGO franchise, The LEGO Batman Movie, delivered an estimated $55.6 million, which is well below Mojo's forecast and even a bit below the $60 million the studio was expecting. However, opening day audiences gave the film a strong "A-" CinemaScore, which plays well with the strong critical reception the film received. Of that audience, 48% were males vs. 52% females and 48% were over the age of 25.

Looking ahead, outside of Lionsgate's acquisition of Rock Dog due in theaters in a couple weeks, there isn't a lot of competition in terms of animated films in the near future and the extended holiday weekend next weekend should ensure LEGO Batman holds on nicely. As for its overall domestic performance, after a $69 million opening, The LEGO Movie delivered a $257.7 million domestic total. A similar performance for LEGO Batman would mean a $207+ million run, which means we'll be keeping an eye out to see if this one can top $200 million.

GOT A SECOND? Help us improve BoxOfficeMojo by taking this quick survey!

Outside of North America, LEGO Batman brought in an estimated $37 million from 60 overseas markets for a combined, $92.6 worldwide opening. Some highlights include an estimated $9.3 million opening in the U.K. along with openings in Mexico ($2.6m), Germany ($2.3m), Russia ($2.2m), Brazil ($2m), France ($1.6m), Spain ($1.5m) and Italy ($1.2m). Looking ahead, the film opens in China on March 3 followed by openings in Australia (March 30) and Japan (April 1).
I don't know how they figure out who watched it but I find this part interesting.....

They generally have a few people actually counting people at a few theatres and then attempt to use the sample with some degree of error. Often it's way, way, off but even with 15% error it's an interesting stat.

That said, the movie was absolutely surreal. First 30 minutes were so funny I was sweating from laughing so hard (and I'm not in that bad of shape). Every shot has an easter egg and my brain was overworked trying to keep up. Then it tapers off a bit and becomes of a bit of a Dimensions commercial. Overall I can't recommend it enough and it made me determined to find that Batcave Break In for the 70 bucks it was over the holidays.

I loved the movie. I refuse to recline in the seats anymore though, unless I'm sick and only going to appease the wife.. otherwise I fall asleep in minutes the second I'm leaning back some.

I still haven't seen all of The Lego Movie in one shot. Everytime I put it on for the kids, I fall asleep on the couch. It must be good for them to let me nap, though

It's more clever than it is funny. Lot's of 'cool' or 'I see what they did there' moments. Still worth watching though. Just going by the Batman trailers, it looks like it's full of actual jokes.

For the unknowing like myself Target currently has $10 off $50 or more on Lego Batman movie sets and other unimportant merchandise. Some sets are already discounted on Target.com making the deal a little sweeter.

It looks like Amazon is having a Buy One get One 40% off sale on lego batman movie and lego city sets. This might be matching TRU? This does not include the Lego DC superheroes batman sets as I added the Scarecrow harvest of fear set and the discount did not apply.

The additional discount shows up when you go to checkout on amazon. I picked up the batman movie riddler racer and lego city town fun in the park set for about $50 after tax

Thanks for the heads up. That makes the Freeze and Catwoman sets about $13.50 each when you get them both. Now I kind of regret getting the freeze set last month.

Also Clayface is $30, instead of $35, so it and the Riddle set would make a good combo.

You can get two of my favorite name ever of a LEGO set, Fire Starter, for $10.22, about 49.9% off.

How much was the Fun in the Park set when you bought it? I swear it was like $28.50 and then went up to $30.

You are not going crazy. The fun in the park set was $28.50 when I bought it.

I looked at the reddit thread some more and some people were not able to get it to work on more than one purchase. I tried adding some more sets and going to check out and it doesn't seem to be an issue for me. Good luck!!!

Did find one problem myself... looks like clayface isn't part of the promotion. Checked TRU too and it's not listed with BOGO either.

Yeah, me too. That set reminds me of the old school Batman Animated series.
I like the fact he's not a bigfig and not a vehicle. I don't need 100 pointless vehicles. I never bothered to pick up the Joker's lowrider for $27 because I only wanted the figures, but not that badly.

And speaking of pointless vehicles the great City Caravan set (60117) is $14, and can get two for $22.xx. Really great set, one of the best in the whole City line.

New Minecraft, Super Heroes, Star Wars and race cars are up on S@H. Hope no one is a Star Wars fan as battlepacks are now $15.

That's the 2017 NYC Toy Fair press release, nothing special but some news...

No $150 jokes of City sets, the Coast Guard will be $120 which I think is fair considering what you get.

There will be 7 new sets for the NinjaGo TV series in August, then more sets for the movie in September. I think that might be a huge mistake.

Oddly LEGO says "52 never before seen CMF from three series including Batman". I'm trying to figure out where they hot that number. Batman has 20, but we have seen them. So there are two more series, one with 16 and one with 20, we saw the boxes at the Germany toy fair. However the only way to get 52 is the Batman 20+16+16. So Typo or they changed their mind?

EDIT - We are also getting a $180 LEGO Batman Movie set.

That city Caravan is really nice, snagged two from the Amazon deal for the inevitable kid's classmates/friends birthdays. Since I don't have prime, paired it with the fantastic Lakeside creator set (which is $20) for free shipping.

So the DC Super Hero Girls line has a $100 set? I don't think we've seen it yet, right? The most expensive set now retails for $80.

I think it's really cool looking set.

I'm starting to think that the mystery minifigure really is the giraffe from TRU. It kind of has that head. So now we can have a minifigure of the creepy guy to go along with the set.

I think us bitching and all the sales last year on LEGO finally made them realize the sets are just too much. This year the big Jungle and Coast Guard sets are $120, not $150. Even thought the CG has two boat hulls, a helicopter, a smaller boat, the helipad, and the small base, when past ones were just the CG boat for $90.

And the Friends sets look great. A mix of beach and winter (I was at the beach yesterday.) and there is the new canoe piece in dark purple, looks very good. Can't remember where I saw the pictures.

But here are some more pictures of random things...

Yes that's a blank box, but it's very interesting. In Germany they had a different box that said we were getting 20 figures (And people thought it would be on NinjaGo movie). The press release also said 52 new minifies and not 56, so I'm curious to what is going on with them.

I think its criticism from all corners. Even on sites where people drink the Kool-Aid and worship the almighty Lego, people have been complaining about overpriced, underwhelming sets. If Lego fans think it's bad, what is the everyday consumer going to think?

Based on what retailers are doing, the everyday consumer has been buying less. There were a lot of sets that were seemingly always on sale, and were further discounted. Lego has been also racking up the pricey shelfwarmers (Maze, Caterham). Looks like they can't print money after all, and people have limits. Who'da thunk?

Dunno how I feel about Series 17. I just remember halfway through feeling up the Batman minifigs, I was ready to chuck it all and say "I just can't do this anymore." And that was Batman.

Finished the Lepin Green Grocer.  As with previous sets, it's great and virtually indistinguishable from real Lego.  I had two missing inconsequential pieces and two pieces that broke (that's a first), both of which were still usable.  Four pieces out of 1000 is more than acceptable in my book.  Plus, the minifigures are spot on, although one of them is missing an arm.

Also put together the Joker Lowrider.  Like Green Giant, I really don't care about superhero vehicles, but I couldn't pass up that price at Wal-Mart.  I also felt this vehicle was tolerable -- it makes a nice counterpart to the Batmobile and I could actually see the Joker using it (as opposed to the Hulk monster trucks or whatever ridiculous vehicle they put in any of the Spidey sets).

The build was actually fun and the end product looks great in Lepintown (Green Grocer, Market Street, Cafe Corner) next to Ghostrider's motorcycle and the new Ecto-1.

That said, this set never should have been $50.  The size is roughly comparable to the new Ecto-1, but there's so much less of everything.  $30 is about right.

Working on Spidey's Bridge to Nowhere now.

I don't know, I haven't seen that. I have only seen the Kool-Aid drinkers go 'Inflation!!!!!' for the price increases.

But yeah, the sales last year have been the best I saw in a decade. Wide-spread 37%+ off, yet then 'clearance' is only 30%?

I hear that, if they were still $3 for the general series I would care more, but it really is 'ehh' I still need vacation Batman, a favorite of mine, and I'm like "I'll get it when I get it".

Glad you had a good experience. I feel like since I spoke favorably of Lepin awhile back that I'm obligated to post about my latest purchase from them, the Fire Brigade. I'm not finished with it yet but so far it's not as quality as the last set I bought. Some of the larger pieces don't fit quite right on the basplates and I have a lot of bending going on. Hopefully that works itself out once it's complete. But it's just given me a taste for the real thing - I find myself wishing the pieces fit better. I also had some scuffed and scratched pieces on this order. Between all the quirks, it'll be decent to put on display but not durable enough for my kids to enjoy.

My next modular type purchase will definitely be the real deal.

Some Target Lego clearance I saw tonight:

SW Naboo Starfighter 204 00 0168, $35-down from $50

SW Resistance Troop Transport 204 00 1478, $49-down from $70

SH Iron Skull Sub Attack 204 00 1520, $21-down from $30

SH Crossbones' Hazard Heist 204 00 1522, $14-down from $20

Not to be morbid or insensitive, but the Troop Transport has the only "older" Leia minifig from the Force Awakens sets.

Good to hear. I've been meaning to finally get Market Street or Green Grocer from Lepin but I might do a bit more research first. Is there any indication that one seller is better than another? Are they all coming from the same "Lepin" factory?

I just went by the reviews on AliExpress but I don't even know if those are legit. I bought my second set from the exact same seller as the first set and it came packaged the exact same way. It just seemed to be of lower quality than the first. If you look at multiple sellers with the same item there are some slight variations in price, but not enough to convince me they aren't all coming from the same source, if that makes sense.
