Anyone know where else the minifigs are going to be stocked besides TRU and Lego? I thought I saw Target mentioned a few pages back. WM or Borders would be great; I've got $25-50 in giftcards for both places that I'm never going to use.
I've scanned an empty bag at Target and Kmart and both have the minifigs in their system, so it's a good bet they will have them eventually. Reports have come in that Canadian Walmarts have gotten them in stock, so Walmart would probably be another store to get them. Since TRU and the Lego stores stocked them with the new summer sets, it's safe to say these other stores won't put them out until they start to stock the summer sets too.
^ Not shocking considering LEGO hasn't added anything on sale in months nevermind the phone things.
Picked this up at the LEGO store tonight ... I really like the Mechwarrior type vibe from it ... and also the fact it transforms ... is that a first for LEGO? Have there been any transforming robots in the past?
A whole Alpha Team line had transforming things, the ice one.
^ Not shocking considering LEGO hasn't added anything on sale in months nevermind the phone things.
That's not necessarily true, I've picked up a few good deals from the S@H phone specials, and they've had some good things that I haven't picked up.
Now, if you were to say that they haven't had anything REALLY good in the last few months, I'd have to tend to agree with you, though they have had a few good sets for 50% off.
ON 6/19, 12 - 2PM, TRU will be holding a Lego Family Creation Event. That's all I know for now. Giving you all a heads up in case you wanted to plan for it. I will post more when I know more about it.
Also that week, starting on 6/13, there is an exclusive Star Wars Lego Pen & Minifigure that will be given out with any Lego purchase of $19.99 or more. Again, more details as I get them.
So, I was thinking about something, and I wondered what you guys think. Do you think Series 2 of the minifigs will be easier to find, or more difficult? I'd hope that LEGO will see how popular these are and up production for future waves. On the other hand, now that people have become more aware of these, they may get scooped up even faster in the future. Thoughts?

Wave two will be harder to get at first because more people will try to cash in on ebay. I think the hotwheel toy collectors who visit stores every morning will be on the hunt. I would fully expect Lego too see the demand and make more than enough to meet the demand, now that Lego knows there is a big demand. Wave two will be easy to find outside the first 2 weeks or so.

Whoa ... is it what I think it is ... I mean ... really, what other minifigure could it be
Not really a deal, per se, but the Disney Store is carrying the LEGO sets for Toy Story and Prince of Persia at a markup.
If you are a Disney Cast Member, or know one who will share, you can get a 35% discount to get back down below normal retail. It makes more sense for the bigger sets. For example, Battle of Alamut is $54.92 (before tax/shipping).

It looks like they are going to demo the Creationary game.
People who are paying that much now for it are uninformed idiots ... the White Boba Fett may not be easy to acquire now, but anyone who follows Eurobrick knows that it will be given out in significant quantities through out the year at conventions and possibly retail establishments as well.
Ouch! and I felt sorry for the guys buying Jango Fetts for $70+! That's really gonna hurt when those white Boba Fetts are as common as the Chrome Stormy. I'm willing to bet there will be a new mold of Jango (like the new Boba Fett) before too long, it'd be funny if LEGO put him in a $20 set.
Anyone know of the best way to amass a collection of basic legos (color bricks and plates of various sizes etc.)?
A couple of months ago, I was wondering the same thing. My 19-month old son is really enjoying his Duplo bricks and Duplo train sets. So, I decided to start buying Lego now for him to play later on when he is old enough.
- My first buy was two 20 gallon storage bins full for $40.
- Then I bought a 20 gallon bin almost full. The owners tried to piece a few Star Wars sets and wanted $20 per set in separate ziplock bags. They end up with 6 ziplock bags and half-full bin before they decided they had enough. At that time the sets/bags are about 75% complete. Since they have manuals for about 10 sets and asked them to throw in a few SW minifigs, I offered $80 for the lot.
- got a 6752 Creator Fire Rescue with box and manual and with few pieces missing from an opened bag #1 (other bags are still sealed) for $15
- a 7672 Rogue Shadow with mint box and manuals for $7. Bag #1 was missing (disclosed by seller beforehand) but the rest are still in sealed plastic bags.
- dusty 7259 ARC-170, 4482 AT-TE, 7153 Jango Fett's Slave I, and 7477 T-1 Typhoon helicopter vs T-rex for $80. All complete with minifigs (plus about 10 more SW minifigs as bonus) but no boxes or manuals.
- 6211 Imperial Star Destroyer with almost complete pieces (about 20 missing), all minifigs, mint box, just #1 manual (#2 is missing) for $60.
- 10178 Motorized AT-AT complete with extra pieces, all minifigs, mint box, and mint manuals for $50.
- The rest of what I have now were bought in stores / on-line during sale or with coupons.
Just try not to pay an arm and a leg for lego without figs, and try not to pay more then $4-8 per pound (depending on content, and how bad you want it, of course) people tend to sell certain series for more, i.e. SW, western, and larger "vintage" 80-90's series.
I try to stick to $5/lb as a general rule for used lego (and btw, 1 gallon is approx 3 lbs).
I wasn't aware of this general rule when I started buying used Lego. I just went buying blindly, i guess. Without looking at the spoiler below (contains what was in the bins), what do the experienced-buyers think of how I did buying used?

$140 for 60 gallons of lego (150ish lbs) is a fantastic price, figs or no figs, I think you did pretty damn well, and I'm totally jealous of finds like that.
As far as everything else is concerned, you got good prices, even if some of the stuff wasn't complete. My rule of thumb for buying discontinued sets is that I'll pay no more then MSRP for sealed, depending on how much I want it, of course.
And then had several frustrating near-clearance experiences. Found a Crawler Crane 7632 in the clearance section at Wal-Mart but it didn't have a tag and didn't come up in the system. The associate said she'd give it to me for $10 but needed manager approval. The manager came over and flipped his shit and said it was $61.88. Whatever.
Then at another Kmart found several Power Miners sets in the clearance aisle, also unlabeled. They all rang up full price even though I feel like they should have been clearanced out. I have seen others here get those same sets at Kmart, and there was no space for them in the regular Lego aisle. Oh well.
For those who get clearance deals at Wal-Mart and Toys R Us, are they usually in the Lego aisle, or in the clearance section? I have never found a clearance deal at either store, except for a couple of Creator sets that actually had corresponding $5 shelf tags in the Lego section.
Got a couple clearance deals at Kmart:
Tow Truck 7638 - $5.50
Just built one of these and now I regret only buying 3 of them. It has a great 6-wide base and enough basic orange pieces to build a variety of orange municipal vehicles. I am going to keep one as a modded tow truck, make one into a highway repair truck, and the third one... not sure yet. If I have time I might go back to that Kmart and get a few more.

At TRU they are predominantly in the Lego isle, if there's a set that has been sitting there forever they might move it the clearance wall.
At Wal-Mart the sets are usually in the Lego isle but depending what time of year they can be in the clearance section.

Thanks. Checked a bunch more stores and no clearance stuff anywhere. As far as I am concerned Walmart and TRU clearances are a myth. Oh and the workers at the Walmarts around here seem to be completely incompetent at their jobs.
I did get a Separatist Shuttle at Kmart for $11, which is okay I guess. Not much of a Star Wars fan (all of the gray pieces are so boring) but I like the little Greedo guy.
I didn't find any Lego deals at Kmart last week during the 50% off clearance, but I did finally find a Hot Wheels Ecto-1, and I did get a Build-a-War Machine from MegaBlocks for $4.xx (originally 15 bucks). I didn't feel so guilty since it's fake-Bionicle pieces rather than fake-bricks, so there's no chance of them getting mixed in with my Lego collection.
And I've never found any good Lego clearance at any of the Wal-Mart store I've been too, so don't feel bad. All of my cheap Lego scores have been at Target and Kmart.
Speaking of Target, I'm guessing the annual 75% clearance will be one of the last days of July again?

I think it has to do with the amount of Lego hounds in the area. We have a BUNCH of Lego hounds around here, and sometimes I find it damn near impossible to get some of the lots off of craigslist, but I check the stores around me regularly and keep a mental inventory of what's where, and what's on it's way out, so I can keep track of the things that should be going the way of the Dodo.
Stay vigilant! You'll find the good deals soon. If you look at the things people have posted about finding on clearance, and keeping track of them in your stores, eventually you'll catch things on clearance.
Oh and the workers at the Walmarts around here seem to be completely incompetent at their jobs.
That's nothing new, though I've noticed that their customer service has gone WAY downhill. A few weeks ago, I was in Wal-mart with my wife and son, and I needed a new eyebrow ring. We stood at the jewelery counter for about 10 minutes, and I watched about 8 employees walk past going into the break room in the back, and not a single one stopped to see if i needed help, or made an effort to get me help. Now, they weren't in "full uniform" but, as I frequent that store fairly often hunting deals down, I recognized them (Plus, navy blue shirt under a coat is usually a dead giveaway to them being employees).
And Wal-mart wonders why their market share has gone down since last year.
I don't think they stop to think about their customers enough
Edit: Also, Did anyone else take advantage of the TRU glitch last week? I'm kinda disappointed that they emailed everyone their little "shame on you" letter. I was expecting to get one for all my purchases, and I think they intentionally only sent out one per customer to say that they know what we did.
Though, if they didn't jack up their prices on everything, people wouldn't jump at the chance to pull the wool over their eyes (Well, they probably still would, but maybe not to such an extreme).

Was checking the Toysrus in Savannah for minifigs and the manager came out with 4 of the Chrome Troopers for me and my son . No New minifigs though.
Not an amazing deal, but if you like both sets it will save you between $10 and $15 dollars. Plus it works out well if you have any left over e giftcards from the video game deals WM has been running lately.
I literally have boxes and boxes and boxes of Legos in my warehouse. I'll get them all down soon and post the #s here on CAG first before I eBay them all off.
I have a lot of the old Star Wars sets... TONS of minifigs. I've also got sets like the Statue of Liberty, Yoda, and the Lego guy (the one that is like 3ft high)
If you wouldn't mind, could you please check for set #4995?
It's a smallish creator set of a helicopter that was just recently discontinued and I didn't buy it in time. Now there's only 4 or 5 people selling it on eBay with at least a $10 mark up. Pretty much the same thing on bricklink with the exception of a few overseas sellers.
Recently found a complete 6090 for 40, when it usually sells for 100 or so online at the flea market. Sooo cool. Sucks because the seller had a bunch of other sets he was willing to see for 50 all together but after buying the big castle set, I was kind of done for the day.
Also saw some other sets MISB but they were mainly Technic and I don't care much for them.

Same here. I have a feeling my backup plan failed me.
Didn't get a chance to talk to him but met another of the Lego guys and he used to be a chemical engineer and got burnt out so now he does educational work with Legos around Atlanta. The final prize they gave away was the $250 carousel but we didn't win it .
They had nothing but white Legos for the build.

I just checked the wholesale site and pre-orders are sold out as well and once items are sold out on EE, they're not coming back in stock. At least that's how it's been with other items that have sold out. Otherwise, the item would have a 'backorder' status.
I just look at my orders and so far they still seem to be 'pending'. I think I should be ok considering I ordered in the first week of April. I've also noticed that EE raised their price on the 10-packs from $19.99 to $29.99.

I'm totally grabbing that shuttle btw ... only thing is, the double points end on the 20th and the shuttle is available June 19th according to the website, so I guess it will be kind of a tight window ... but hopefully it works out for all of us.
