Walmart has a 2 for $15 online sale of $10 sets. Not amazing, but a deal. PM Fire Blaster, AT Wreck Raider--that kind of thing. Free ship-to-store as well.

http://www.walmart.com/ip/LEGO-Buil...=08601497144084396899&wmlspartner=lw9MynSeamY
Looks like Walmart has a few different Lego price set bundles:
- 2 for $10
http://www.walmart.com/ip/LEGO-Building-Sets-2-for-10-Value-Bundle/14898845
- 2 for $35 (that's what the page says; I don't know why the link has "2 for 40" in it)
http://www.walmart.com/ip/LEGO-Building-Sets-2-for-40-Value-Bundle/14898702
- 2 for $70 (ditto with "2 for 60")
http://www.walmart.com/ip/LEGO-Building-Sets-2-for-60-Value-Bundle/14898722
- $40.93: Lego Star Wars Imperial Forces Playset bundle
http://www.walmart.com/ip/LEGO-Star-Wars-Imperial-Forces-Playset-Value-Bundle/14313729
- $29.00: Lego Star Wars Snow Trooper Army Pack/Echo Base bundle
http://www.walmart.com/ip/LEGO-Star-Wars-Snow-Trooper-Army-Pack-Echo-Base-Value-Bundle/15048307

They're pretty mediocre bundles, though - except for the Imperial Forces Playset bundle, which is not worth it at all. That one comes with the Snow Trooper Army pack and Darth Vader's TIE fighter, but the fighter is $25.82 and the Army pack is $10.54 on their website. :dunce:

$20 at TRU got me the magnet and a tote bag, which was marketed as a high quality treat bag for halloween. They had black and white skeleton heads and the pumpkin head. Very nice, very good quality.

Target had a few on sale. Most noteably the Undersea Explorer 8080, the set that has the transforming sub and creater, exclusive to Target. $5 bucks off was the sale. I figure I'd eat that in shipping at S@H.

I was at Costco and purchased a few Brickmaster books, the Star Wars and Atlantis ones. They also had the Pirates and Castle, all were marked at $14.49.

not too shabby for 14.. i still want to pick up the Atlantis one.

Are these good sets to get for my son who is 9? It looks like you can make a few different models with it. The price seems good.

If you can get it cheap, it has about 125ish bricks or so, depends on the book, but there are enough to make 2 small models, but there are probably 10 or 12 different sets to make.

These would compliment other sets in the series.

Added some random pics for you, Star Wars has the most pieces out of all of them at 250, the rest only have 150ish. It's cool for what it is but I think way overpriced.
But it probably is a good price at $14, I think I am going to get them if I see them. Now I have to decide which one or maybe 2.
The SW Brickmaster set is the best pick IMO and a deal for $14. In addition to the 250 pieces, you get a Battle Droid and Clone Trooper. Costco also has SW #8088 - ARC-170 Starfighter for either $45 0r $48 (I kind of regret not picking this up at the LEGO event for $25? Crane, correct me if I'm wrong).

My local Walmart (Milpitas for Crane) also has Racers sets #8196, 8197, 8198 and 8199 clearanced to $5 each.

Yeah, man they had a ton of those left at the LEGO event, boxes were smashed to hell but there was a stack of ... 10+ at least. I swear I still have dreams / flashbacks to going into the store during that first round and seeing all those sets 1/2 price ... of course then it turns into a nightmare watching all the hoarders inside while we were stuck waiting in line for round 2 ;)

Damn hoarders, are they going to do another BBTB again? If given enough time, I should be able to plan something.
Damn hoarders, are they going to do another BBTB again? If given enough time, I should be able to plan something.
Jay would know for sure, but I believe the next one isn't until 2012?
Damn hoarders, are they going to do another BBTB again? If given enough time, I should be able to plan something.
I'm on the Planning Committee for BBTB and as Crane stated the next one will be in 2012. Plenty of time for people to plan. It's going to be every other year because it conflicts with another LEGO convention on the west coast. There hasn't been any recent talk about it within the committee, but I do know they are looking for a bigger venue.

ALL I know is that I'm bringing everyone and their mom to the LEGO event. That way, I can get all my bases covered rather than seeing others in front of me by the bulk of sets on sale at the LEGO store. Better yet, I just hope there's a better way of doing the sale like limiting the amount of sets you get for the first few trips.

Target usually has some old htf popular sets for like 40%-50% off, in the past from what I remember they had the Imperial Star Destroyer, Castle Siege, Indiana Jones Crystal Skull, Castle viking ship. TRU usually has a set or two, the most memorable one is actually quite a few years old when they had the original AT-AT for $40-50. Lego Stores usually have a random discount when you get the check out 10%, 20%, 30%.

That's all I remember from the top of my head, hope it helps.
What sales can we expect for black friday? just wondering if it is worth it to hold off buying to save some money for that or if I shouldn't worry about it
I think not...if shopping from S@H. last year was revenge of magnets for 15% off!!!! whooooo

/sarcasm

I don't think you should save up for friday legos if shopping online.

Amazon had a few Black Friday LEGO deals last year. I got the Speed Racer Grand Prix for $30, one of the White Creator houses for $30--also the Indy Jungle Cutter for $20. Obviously overstock sets (i.e. not really good ones.) But those weren't bad deals. You just have to watch for them, they were lightening deals and went QUICK.
Found the Lego Atlantis Legends of the Deep at Kmart today with the 50% off clearance toys.

Not a bad set for $5.
Damn joo, I went to one of Kmart that has the neptune carrier but its not on clearance. The best Kmart I have ever seen with clearance toys is about 45 minutes away. I'm going to Disneyland on Saturday so I might stop by and check out what they have.

Actually TRU had that Agents truck set on Black Friday at quite a good price ... can't remember what it was ... but I picked up 2. So TRU might be worth keeping an eye on for Black Friday.

It was $68. They also had the Aqua Raiders base for $35. But that was 2008, 2009 they had less than jack shit.
They could give away free Legos and I still wouldn't go to TRU on Black Friday...and if you've never been, you're in for a treat!
Exactly. The line at TRU at one point in 2008, I went and talked to some people, was close to 4 hours. It wrapped around the store. Now they redid the one near me to a BRU / TRU combo (It's the new thing) and moved the video games into the back of the store and have less cashiers, redid the front door, it will be an even bigger mess this year.

The agents command center was $53.99, then if your store was well stocked like ours was, that weekend they also had a b1g1 half off coupon, making it $80.00 for two.

I went the following morning to check it out to use the coupon and right when I walked into the LEGO aisle an employee was restocking 4 that they missed from the top of the shelf. I grabbed all 4!

I'll trade you a Dwarve's Mine for one :)
TRU week of 10/17

Buy 1 Get 1 50% off Lego City, World Racers, Atlantis, Kingdoms, Toy Story, Technic, Duplo, Prince Of Persia, Cars and Hero Factory. The way it's worded, it sounds like all sets within will be on sale. If it happens to be otherwise, I will let it be known.

10/23 12 - 2 PM Bricktober 500 Event.

Same as last year. Build a car, race it down a ramp...
No changes to the sale I posted a while back for next week.

Also, I received my rewards coupons in the mail yesterday and inside was a $5 off $50 Lego purchase coupon(excludes Star Wars and Harry Potter) along with my $5 rewards certificates.

Went to a Walmart in Jersey today and they had this set:

http://brickset.com/detail/?Set=8971-1

I was surprised they had it. It was "clearanced" to its MSRP of $79.97. Although I guess it is so old that that that is once again a decent price for it.

On a related note, can anyone tell me if Walmart "clearance" is just idiotic or if I'm doing it wrong? I see so many sets with the red clearance tag that scan at full price. The Space Police Galactic Enforcer is a prime example. Is that just the price, or is there some way to get them for cheaper, e.g., maybe they scan lower at the register or with a price gun? Or does this mean that they're getting ready to put them in a clearance cycle, etc.? I am kind of baffled by this full-price clearance phenomenon.

It's up to the manager. I have 3 stores within 25 miles of each other and 2 of them are always clearancing stuff at msrp and the other will slash stuff like Freddy Krueger.

Something I learned a few weeks ago about Wal-Mart and there wierd msrp clearance stuff. If it rings up msrp, all it means is that its cleared out of there system or something like that. I really can't remember what the employee told me. Just means that there not getting anymore of that product so they moved it out of the way (clearance section) so they can move new product in. I really hate the way wm is set up, and trying to ask to find something or if they have it in stock is like trying to look for the missing children they have up on the wall when you first enter the store!

Found (2) Lego Bionicle figures at Kmart. With the 50% off they went down to 3.50 each.. The wife picked up both of them and used a Kmart $5 off coupon (which clearly was marked not off clearance items, but the cashier didn't care) and they went down to $2.12 including tax for both.

I'm not a fan of Bionicle, but maybe my kid will enjoy them for Christmas or Easter for the 2 dollars.

I wasn't sure whether to post this YMMV deal.. Besides, we all know Bionicle aren't real Lego and probably don't belong in this thread. :)

I understand Walmart making room for new sets but one way to do that is have an actual clearance sale! Having a set with clearance price tag up for the normal game is stupid. It's not just for a little while, they had sets for about a year before.

LOL - I've seen Wal-Marts that still have full price "clearance" toys from several years ago! Nobody buys them because of the pricing, but around the holidays Wal-Mart always brings them back out to the clearance aisle. I guess eventually they will sell, once the demand for the stuff increases. I don't see LEGOs very often because of this reason, although Bionicle and Racers stuff tends to linger longer.

Also got all my TRU.com orders now. I have a PO BOX at a very tiny post office and boy was the postman happy to see me! All my packages can't fit in my box obviously, so they were crowding his little office.;) All the set boxes were in pretty good condition, not smashed to hell like I was expecting. Bonus points awarded to TRU's shipping department!

Found a couple Lego sets on clearance at Kmart with the 50% off.
Also used a birthday $5 off any toy coupon on each.

Lego Atlantis Typhoon Turbo Sub (8060) - $4.77 w/ tax.

Lego Space Police Hyperspeed Pursuit (5973) - $14.31 w/ tax.

Seen the PoP sets are 15-25% off at WM... wonder if they'll go cheaper.

Found that 5 off 50 coupon Prim was talking about, and then they sent me a 20% off one item.

I doubt I could combine a 5 off and 20% at the same time, but think I could with either with the sale at TRU?????

Since the 20% is only for one item, and the $5 is for the total purchase, the register should take both coupons.

You won't be able to use two "off total purchase" coupons together.

Thanks for that bit of wisdom... Sunday may end up being a good day!

prim,

I remember you posting earlier about the Bricktober 500 event at TRU? When is this supposed to happen? I remember you mentioning building a racecar and racing others.

Any info would be appreciated!
