This looks like it'll be the rumored ANH/ESB/ROTJ Lego Star Wars, not Episode 1, 2 and 3. It wouldn't suprise me, half the time was probably spent making the combat engine and whatnot in the first one, the levels would take probably about a month to make.. I could definately see it being 4, 5 and 6 instead of a release of 1, 2 and 3.
I haven't heard of a GC release of either the current or rumored new Lego Star Wars games. However, 3 things point to this being the original and not the rumored new one. First, it shows a release date of October 4th. The new Lego Star Wars is still in rumor stage (no official announcement yet) so it seems unlikely it would come out that soon, especially for GC. Secondly, there is no listing for a PS2 or Xbox version coming out then - no way they release the new one on the GC and not the others. Third, it is priced at $29.99 while the current games are still at $39.99, but will most likely hit a price drop then as well. I don't think they would release the new one at that price point because the original has been insanely popular and they can get away with selling the new one for $40.
In fact, what this points to is that both the current and rumored new one will come out on the Gamecube. They are probably porting the engine to the GC, releasing the GC version of the original game in October, then following up on all 3 consoles at the same time with the newer version (either by Christmas or in the Spring).
Though, as Scorch says, it wll be easy enough to make the new game with the engine already in existence - so they COULD come out with the new one in October. Still, it makes sense if they are going though the trouble of porting the engine to the GC, they would release the original one first. As for the sequel, I had commented on the PS2 Lego SW thread that this had to be as close as you could come to a sure money maker in video games. Those of us who have played through the original and know Episodes 4-6 well enough could design the levels in the sequel. I am surprised it has taken this long for any official announcement. The original has been near the top of the charts for months now.

For GC owners who don't have a PS2 or Xbox and thus might not know, this is a GREAT cooperative game. My 5 year-old son and I have had a blast playing it, and we haven't quite gotten all the hidden kit pieces yet.
