I completely slept past the sale and don't even care as there were only a couple things I wanted.

Agree with everyone that they're making douchebag moves withholding the remaining vita games.

The other thing that's completely fucking idiotic is making people buy $100 worth of stuff for ONE pack of the cards. Most people would barely even get that more than 2 items in cart before things sell out. A great move to not have to lose $5.

Starting the year on a high note for sure.

If folks were really this angry, just boycott them, but we all know that's not happening because people are sheep.

I was going to come on here to complain how Shopify/Paypal screwed me over on Metal Slug 3 for PS4, but then I see all this whining about the last Vita games being in the Blind Boxes...

The games will still be released the regular way, A handful of people will get it early if they get a blind box. So what? Seriously, SO WHAT? How does that any way negatively affect you or your collection? You'll still have your chance to buy your copies, but if you're so insane that you absolutely positively must have it first, you take your chance with a blind box.

And if you ARE that insane, chances are you won't get it and you're out that money and still have to buy it normally like everyone else.

Good gravy people.
Yeah, the blind box isn't the disease, but the symptom, as this is typical LRG BS and really nothing new honestly. For me, it's the moving of the goal post, again and again. As stated, a few of us only need or want these last few games, and by them saying we have no clue when they will be offered officially, but here get these blind boxes, tells me it could be December 2020 when the last games get released(if at all).

When they said they just wanted to hold on to these last games, I was like whatever, your business, I'll get them when offered. But with each new month, some other scheme is revealed, and when does it end? I bought blind boxes the first time around, and swore them off due to the BS way that shit went down, so yeah, I could care less about blind boxes being offered in general.

I honestly looked at March 2020 as the end of this for me, as I figured they would milk it for one game a month, and then be over. Now, after the "we have no idea when these last games will be offered", so here, buy 20 blind boxes, so maybe you get one, what springs up next month, then the month after, etc. These guys have more than enough crap they sell to the masses(to get their nickels & dimes), and I'm fine with that, as if people don't want something, don't buy it. With each new month, the end was near, so I was cool, even spreading the games out, but now I see these guys will just say anything to keep fans suckling at the tit, and for me the milks gone bad!

Actually, when those vita games do go on sale they will most likely disappear as fast as today's stuff, in seconds. So the collectors are probably extremely paranoid they'll miss out on them while fighting off bots, flippers, & other collectors.
Adding these vita games to the blind box is playing to those paranoid fears. Lowering the quantity available for the future sale but more importantly enticing collectors to take a gamble in securing these games now. So you now have extra people interested in buying your blind boxes that otherwise wouldn't care.
Great business strategy thou.

I don't care either way.

I was working also don't really care that much. The only game I was even slightly interested in was papers please and I'll probably pass anyways. Now if they can get the developers to release it on switch id bite.

As for the big deal about the game being in the mystery box.

Based on that tweet the bigger deal for me is the fact they still haven't set a release date for 2020 yet already have it printed and ready to go and are already selling through the copies that are suppose to be held for replacements seems ass backwards but then again I have never delt with this company.

Well, I really wanted the last 3 VR games I was missing, completely screwed up the timezone on my end. got 1/3.  So Just Light Tracer for me.

LOL, no one's commented on their monthly Limited run shirts yet?  Kind of an interesting merchandising idea, but way too expensive for me (after shipping).

Congratulations to all the bots who scored!
Every deal/flip/cook group discord I'm in was telling people to bot the CEs, Jax 1 ce only added 3 in stock that I ever saw so if you were trying to get that manually it was probably a bad time

Regarding the unreleased vita games, they've consistently said that blind boxes were leftover stock from held back inventory for replacements, and overstock from minimum order quantities. Even their advertising banner specifies "warehouse leftovers". So while everyone anticipates a bloodbath when these games finally go on sale, they are already reducing the number available to those waiting patiently to purchase, all to entice people into more blindboxes. I get why they are doing it, but it's slimy to say the least.

If anyone wants to trade either version of Shantae: Pirates Curse, I’d have quite a few other releases I’d be happy to swap. The delayed availability really screwed me over this morning.

So what you're saying is ... good business/marketing strategy on LRG's part.

Folks here need to get a hold of themselves. There are far, far, FAR greater and more important issues to be angry or anxious about. This one over LRG is the epitome of a first world problem.

I don't expect to see people talking about Hong Kong, Australian wildfires, or Brexit on a video game deals/discussion forum. Nobody's dying over this and nobody's acting like they are. But complaints about how Limited Run Games is selling their games on the Limited Run Games thread seems perfectly topical. We're all here because we like games, and we're allowed to because fortunately no one person decides what humans have to spend their time doing.

I'm laughing to myself, because you are all totally correct from each side of the spectrum. It is absolutely the epitome of a first world problem, AND it's a discussion thread about LRG. I'm pretty sure most of us are here because of all the above.

Wow a lot of outrage here. Definitely caused me to rethink what I was planning to buy.

Because of all this garbage I only bought 5 PS4, 5 Vita, and 2 CE blind boxes. I hope they get their shit together because I feel bad screwing them over like this. Even though they're doing the same to us.

You forgot the Breach and Clear reprint

Wow..  I can't actually believe the copies of Paper Please & Super Meat Boy in the blind boxes are actually real.  I figured it was just a typo, but wow...

I've been a customer since Saturday Morning RPG, missed the start with B&C, but what can you do.  I was never into the collecting side of LRG releases, didn't have the money to do so even if I was inclined.  I simply bought the ones that I wanted to play to have a physical copy, so most of the shenanigans everyone complained about with them never really bothered me because of that.

Never had a issue with buying during a sale, their choice of releases, needing to get a replacement, all had good experiences.  Hell even had a Wait List experience pay out well several months ago.  Having a release that already physical release or Best Buy copies again didn't bother me because again I was buying to play not collect.  If something became collectable later on that was just a bonus.  But stuffing games you haven't even released yet into blind boxes...  That's just a really disappointing move.

The way they are stringing people along with these Vita releases is unbelievable.
I saw some people suggesting that they are trying to wait until after nicalis releases some final vita carts (I really don't know which, vvvvvv maybe?) so that they can lay claim to being the ones to drop the final vita carts to be released?

I saw in a email they were selling packs of cards but I couldnt find them. Was going to get one and that 90s sticker for my box of lrg odds and ends. Just as well, I didn't need them.

Apparently they sent an email saying you'd get a pack of cards for spending $100 but then said it was a mistake cuz they couldn't figure it out

Well, considering Salt and Sanctuary went up 2 minutes late- everything else worth trying for was gone. It was the only one I really wanted but a shot at bloodstained and dragons lair would have been nice.

Ah ok. Email made it look like I could also buy one for 10 dollars. But since I couldnt I didn't get anything. I'll just get that sticker next time they put a game up I want to buy.

Holy fuck, they wanted $10 for a pack of 5 cards? lmao spend that money on 2 packs of pokemon cards and you could make money back.

Thank god, I'm pretty more or less done with them at this point.

Yeah, this was something I was very much looking forward to a year or so back(when it was first announced), as I bought one of their card cases and everything. So about 6 months ago I gave up on it ever happening, and that was when I decided to trim back on stuff like this. Now having seen the prices, I guess it was for the best, as no way in hell I would pay $10 for 5 cards, and then what, another 5-6 in shipping.........NO THANKS!

So they can figure out how to give everyone a card they conveniently printed enough of to give everyone without having to put it in shopify but they can't figure out how to sort sales by amount and make sure whomever is packing the $100+ orders would throw a pack in the box?

Yeah, right.

That's REALLLLLLLY sketchy. Wow.

That's REALLLLLLLY sketchy. Wow.
Cmon, is anyone really surprised? They are doing a “shirt of the month”, they force bundle soundtracks with games, and they put the last few vita games in blind boxes before selling them “because they don’t know when they will release them.”

As it’s been said before, it’s definitely a first world problem but LRG is greedy and will do whatever it takes to make an extra buck, even if it pisses off their early supporters. I won’t be surprised when they start force bundling pins, posters, keychains, etc with their more in demand games. I fully expect this to happen with the last few vita games. It’s an easy way to pawn crap off on their customers because they know it’s the only way to get these games.

by reading this thread, sounds like LRG getting worse and worse
It's the end game of any industry where one company is dominant. They're at the point where their base is beholden to them, so any moves they make can be slightly worse than before, to eke out more cash.

Instead of expanding their business and earning good will, they're making it more expensive and more like gambling with every chance they get.

I'm a longtime customer but I'm actually close to not buying anything from them anymore (will give them a few more chances), even the stuff I really want to get.  I'll just wait for a good digital sale on something they are releasing that I really like.  Kind of sad that LRG is driving me to buy more games digitally rather than preserving them with a physical purchase, but that is what it has come to.

i stopped collecting when i found out Bards Gold is $5 retail. and most of the time it goes on sale for $1. that pissed me off. collecting them getting way too expensive for me. i only buy the ones i really want. ppl who buy them to resell, not gonna work. barely worth more than retail.

Well, when most games need patches anyways, the "physical" then becomes about 10% digital, which in turn means it's 100% digital, as the game is incomplete otherwise. Sadly, I don't put this on LRG, as the developers are the issue here(new industry norm), but as you say, it just makes the digital all the more inviting. Physical will always be my "thing" I guess, as I could always sell something after the fact, and that is of course no longer an option with digital.
