Got my Animal Well NS CE today and I gotta say, they did a pretty shit job packing it. Normally my LRG CEs come bubble wrapped in a box but this time, it came in a box with paper padding on the bottom and one single sheet on top, with nothing protecting the sides. No dings or dents from what I can tell.

Towards the end of 2024 LRG decided to let their shipping team go and replaced them with temp workers. The existing employees were offered a job with the temp agency at less pay and no benefits. Needless to say no one took them up on that. So now you have people with no experience packing stuff. Thankfully, I haven't gotten anything damaged recently. Although there have been a couple head scratchers as to the way they were packed such as your Animal Well CE.

Not that I don't 't believe LRG wouldn't do that, but I think you should at least tell us who said what where for that claim.

That would explain the last interaction I had with customer service where they basically no longer offered damaged game exchanges. You can either have a refund or a partial refund. I have seen many other people have the same experience lately and some were even told to just keep the damaged item even if they received a full refund. They are almost certainly doing cost cutting.

Infuriating that they didn't let the Xbox version of Legacy of Kain be open pre-order.
None of the LRG Legacy of Kain standard editions were open pre-order. It seems a different publisher is doing the PS5/Switch versions similar to the Tomb Raider trilogy having a standard/deluxe release different from LRG's (also missing Xbox outside of LRG). LRG Tomb Raider was open pre-order on all platforms though. It's still annoyingly inconsistent.

Any numbered Xbox releases are still open pre-order.

I think for those diehards collecting for xbox, I don't think you can lean back and just wait on this stuff. The physical side of the platform is kind of dying as is and it's likely most games that even get a print run are going to be kind of limited because not enough people want them. I think this is a side effect of game pass and other similar subscriptions. You get people to buy the subscription and they just convert over to be mostly digital since they get used to getting everything digital anyway.

It was worse. They were numbered for few hours to a day then changed without announcement.

Here's an odd one. I googled "limited run games fired shipping team" and it gave me an AI Overview claiming that it's true (I copied the text below). However, scanning through the top results showed no supporting articles for that AI summary. So who knows

"AI Overview

According to recent reports, Limited Run Games did indeed lay off a significant portion of their shipping team, citing operational changes and a need to streamline their fulfillment process as the primary reasons for the job cuts."

An AI overview is about as authoritative as my buddy's Uncle who works at Nintendo from when I was eight on the playground.

First time I've seen someone claim it as a source for something...

You won't find any articles on it. I can't reveal the source because I don't want them to get in trouble, but they're trustworthy.

I'm looking forward to possibly grabbing some Variants this Monday through the LRG Vault - or just even some games I might want.. sure most of em are on VGP or ebay for cheaper but I'm addicted ok lol -

Some of the Foil Variants look nice I think.. be cool if they made some steelbooks available separately.

I'm trying to think but didn't some stuff sell out like immediately when they did something like this before? I remember wanting the Persona 3/4 variants but think they were sold out immediately.

last time they did a comic con variants sale and some of the stuff sold out with in the 1st min

Anytime they do variants they sell out quickly. I remember going for the PAX variants for Stranger's Wrath Vita back in the day, and I know I have one other PAX variant (think it's a shoot em up PS4 title). Also last chance for Front Mission 2: Remake pre-orders closing tomorrow. I was waiting for them to put up something like the Gex Trilogy to bundle the titles, but alas I'm not missing out on this one. Hopefully this will be my last LRG game order for a while.

that what they all say but they just keep coming back LOL😈

P3/4 were going to sell out no matter what covers they had considering the resell market alone. Just standard edition copies alone sell for about $100 P4 and $90 P3P. Other stuff sat a lot longer. The main thing I wanted from that last blowout sale was Tiny Metal Ultimate, which I got a copy of that.

Not much for me but I did pick up the Turtles Shredders Revenge Ultimate Edition on Switch. I missed the pre-order window on that one. I will probably me kicking myself when it's on Amazon with free shipping in a few months though.

I was going to wait too, but I don't have this game physically and I like the 80s cartoon cover, so I got it because I was going to get it regardless eventually.

And hey! A couple of Vita titles! I passed on Rocketbirds 2. I played it when it was a PS+ title, and was gypped the trophy for beating it because the game glitched out, and I wasn't enjoying it enough to replay from my previous save. I did get Rock Boshers DX. That seems like a cool little game.

They got me for contra operation galuga. I thought about shredders revenge but I’ve already bought that game twice now and 2 extra dlc characters doesn’t do enough for me.

The Vault includes titles that were on the $10 table in the store, IIRC. They had a clearance pile that the two guys who buy from the store and ship to people had it in their photos for a bit.

So yea, they're just clearing shelf rot from the physical store. There's nothing really interesting in there, IMO, that you cannot get for cheaper on the market for the most part.

This is good for those who haven't really bought anything there in years, i.e. me. :D

My last purchase was a Vita one, and that was more than 6 years ago.

Well played LRG.

If anyone was expecting a sudden influx of stuff like Pirate's Curse or Breach & Clear, I have a bridge to sell you. I am somewhat surprised there weren't more Vita leftovers since they billed this as the rest of their stock, though.

They definitely added other items, but it was billed as event/convention variant items though.

I actually liked a few of the books they had on sale, added 2 to my cart...and then their prices doubled. Seriously. One book was like 4 bucks and one was 7 or so, then they both doubled. So, not sure if it was a pricing error, or if they jacked up the price because they almost sold out.

So...I didn't buy anything. womp womp.

Looked through the vault, found so many things I had no interest in. Nice to get the confirmation it was, for me anyway, a bunch of nothing.

Right, and I think people here mostly had reasonable expectations. But if you look at Reddit or Twitter there were plenty of people who were expecting it to be all of the "best" stuff back in stock as opposed to just convention leftovers and other stuff they generally have problems selling. LRG's marketing has always been bad, but they continue to fumble over bars that are astonishingly low. It wouldn't have been hard at all to publish a list in advance instead of whatever word salad this is:

I was gonna order Doom Eternal and Lollipop Chainsaw Event Exclusive Editions for the Switch.. forgot to finish order and went back to see em no longer available.. that's my fault yay - I'll find em one day somewhere I guess

I was stuck in a meeting when this went live but I got an order in for Lollipop and Tomba just 10 minutes after. Didn't realize they'd have Contra but also not sure it was still in stock when I placed my order.
