I liked the Afterburner demo a while back, definetely getting that. I only have 400 MSP and getting this over Megaman 10 (although I used to be a big fan, and I always thought that making new games "retro style" is a load of bs).

Thanks for the heads up OP, I was hoping Afterburner would hit a sale soon.

Ugh, these damn XBLA sales every other week are breaking my bank.

Half off is just too good of a deal to pass on Mega Man 10 or After Burner!
Definitely getting MM10, on the fence about After Burner... and not a chance on Scrap Metal at that price.
I too am buying MM 10. I won't be getting After Burner because I own it on PS3. I can say it's definitely action-packed, and reminds me of the original arcade version but on a console. If you have any interest in flight-simulator/arcade games, then it's definitely worth your time.

HAHA Microsoft you almost caught me.

I was about to drop full-price amount on After Burner last night but something told me to wait and make sure they dont put it on sale soon.

Feels good to dodge that bullet. I will spend the extra 400 on Mega Man 10.

I'd like to get Tecmo Bowl but I will wait in case they do something around the time Madden comes out.

You're not helping my willpower to resist Afterburner :(

I'm really thankful that I won copies of Perfect Dark and Toy Soldiers awhile back, as otherwise the past few months would have been even more insane... so many sales :D

Now if only they'd have an adventure games sale week--I'd gladly buy all of the Sam & Max and Wallace & Gromit games at half price.

Edit: Even though I know it'll go on sale eventually, I picked up PQ2 yesterday... really superb! Reminds me of just how much of a step backwards PQ Galactrix was...

May get Megaman, but doubtful.

Holy crap at all that Rock Band content though.. So much on there I want to get..

Happy about Afterburner, although I may hold off to make sure it doesn't go on sale on PSN as well.

I wonder why Outrun hasn't ever gone on sale? (or has it and I missed it)
Anyone snag Duke Nukem yet? Is it worth the 800points?
not really it's just 7 levels split into 3 parts each doing the same thing over and over

Oh hell yes, I'm so glad I've stopped buying games on release. I'm even more happy that microsoft has been doing multiple games for dotw. I am definitely grabbing mega man 10 and after burner.

was ready to day 1 both Lechuck's Revenge and Tango Down, but with all the insane deals, I'm thinking of holding off. I honestly havn't played enough of Monkey Island 1 yet, and probably won't get a ton of progress done on Tango Down anytime soon, so if I can hold off 6-9 months, they might go on sale.....points....burning.....in pocket
I barely have over 2000 points to cover both. to save or spend?
I'm going to go completely broke this summer.
well since youll be going broke just $5 at a time you will last the WHOLE summer!

-im tempted to pick up winterbottom because i dig the art style and kind of like the puzzle-ness. but a lot of people compared it to braid, which i am far from finishing because it makes my brain hurt, will i be entertained for at least a couple of hours before the crazy levels?

Yes. It's short, but fun to whereas braid you gotta rewind and it makes you think more so it's more challenging. I already got 30gs achievements and i've only passed the 1st level. So far it's fun and i'd say it is worth the $5.

Finally bought Defense Grid, and love it. It should have been a "no-brainer" due to my affection for anything Tower Defense related, but I held out until playing the demo. Games like this would be perfect with a handheld Xbox machine (Puzzle Quest 2 as well).

Picked up PB Winterbottom, Poker Smash and Chime and I'll be getting in on MM10 and Afterburner on Monday. Once I finally get my 360 from GS, I'm going to have a hell of alot of arcade games in my DL queue (not including the ones I already own).

I grabbed Chime...its fun and very cheap at 240 points. I'm probably going to grab Scrap Metal on Monday, although 800 points still seems a little high for me.

Great games. But you can already pick up Puzzle Quest 2 on handheld. Infinite Interactive developed a version for the Nintendo DS, and D3 Publisher released it on June 22, 2010. I own the original Puzzle Quest on PSP and 360, so I can definitely vouch for the fact that it suits itself well to portable gaming. :D

I bought the following:

:360:

Chime - 240 Points
Darwinia + - 800 Points
Poker Smash - 400 Points
The Misadventures of P.B. Winterbottom - 400 Points

I look forward to next week's deals too!

I'm surprised to see MS putting recent releases on sale. We usually have to wait at least a year for an arcade title to be considered in the DotW.

That's right. The only reason I bought PQ2 for XBLA was the fact it's 1200 Points ($15) instead of $29.99 on DS. Also, I thought there'd be a better online community with Live.

I take it today is the last day for this weeks sale? I know I have gonna grab chime for the 240 MS, but still on the fence about PB winter.. & Rocket Riot.

I thought my 9 year old wanted Rocket Riot, which I was cool with because of the multiplayer, but she not interested. But she likes PB which I'm worried will never be played after its passed.

Update: got chime & PB. Maybe I'll catch Rocket Riot next sale.

I've been buying so many of these sales, sadly, my harddrive is out of space and I'm deleting games I bought not long ago already.

Anyway- I guess I'll be in for Afterburner next week. God save my harddrive.

Cheaper weak than I thought! Tried chime, absolutely hated it. Upon playing it I realized I really hate any type of puzzle, scoring, timed based games. It's not actually bad but instead I want characters or a narrative or something. I just don't care to even play it or about "scores" whatsoever, even if I did very much love the one song in the trial. Reminded me of the mirror's edge theme. Maybe I'll look into the soundtrack.

Darwinia is kind of fun but I know I won't play through the game or touch the multi-player. Because of my experience with chime I felt poker smash would be a bust and I own winterbottom/RR.

I wanted to like chime for the reasons I like rez, the music is cool and flows into the gameplay, but I just have absolutely no want to do well or get a good score; I don't care.

I had the same initial impression of the game that you had from watching videos of it. It came across as a "Lumines clone", which is a game I absolutely hate after buying it for PSN (I wouldn't have bought it had I had an opportunity to play a demo of the game prior to buying). However, once I played the demo of Chime (I'll iterate just how much I love XBLA for allowing me to play nearly every game available for purchase prior to buying- PSN isn't even 60%), I enjoyed the game!

For me, it comes down to whether or not you think it's worth $3 (240 points)? I'm of the mindset that 240 points is a no-brainer, though if the game was 400-800 points on sale, I'd probably pass.

It might be about that if I could stand playing it lol. It just feels pointless. I'm getting a score..why? To get a score. To compete? No cause I won't be any good compared to leaderboards and don't want to be frankly. So...for the music? Yeah pretty much. The evolving music was really nice but I couldn't take building blocks into squares for long. I very very rarely get so turned off on a game so quickly but that one did it. Again though, not because of quality but taste; I know the difference.

I get what you're saying. My influence to buy had more to do with it's price than it did the gameplay. It seems we both agree the music is awesome, and I think we also agree that it's the kind of game that doesn't have much replay value. I guess I'm looking for content for my Xbox 360 Slim that I recently bought, and this meets that need for me. I'm more likely going to buy anything they offer on sale to build up a library of XBLA games.

However, 2 or 3 Months from now, I may regret even spending 240 points for this. Let's hope not! ;)

Got Winterbottom and Poker Smash, gonna pass on Rocket Riot... would have gotten it if not for the fact next week's deals are Mega Man 10 and Afterburner Climax, which take priority for me.

Lol. That's another thing, I bought like..5? arcade titles in the big e3 sales and had 2 or 3 older ones I hadn't played. Not counting the 100 retail discs in my tower between ps3/360 of which a fourth are finished. I know I'm getting comic jumper, limbo, deathspank, shank(are they all xbla? 1 or 2 multi or psn only? I forget) so no need to waste points on what amounts to a soundtrack =)

Never really did like tetris. I like watching people play this kind of puzzler if they know what they're doing but not play them myself.

You mention "wasting points", and I'm 50/50 about whether Chime is a waste even for 240 points (I can safely say that Zombie Apocalypse, Poker Smash, Castlevania: SOTN, and Defense Grid: The Awakening are anything but a waste for 400 points a piece!). However, I've been taking advantage of the 1600 points for $16.54 offer at Amazon.com (I've successfully bought 4 cards so far, and will probably buy a couple more from Walmart due to my inability to buy any more from them), so I have plenty of points to burn.

I've also bought Puzzle Quest 2 for 1200 points, and have enjoyed it so far. I have 960 points remaining from the 2nd 1600 point card I redeemed, and still have 2 more 1600 point cards left (I bough some of the games using 1600 points I bought with my credit card- I was afraid the offers would expire before I received the cards in the mail- I was right in that they came after the initial sale offers expired).

I'm getting my points at half off from the MS retailer loyalty site, for as long as blockbuster IS still a retailer =P so yeah I've been liberally spending as well but I usually feel a bit more into the games. Kind of that hook "yeah, this is going to be fun". Sorry, wasn't trying to shit on the game(for anyone else reading) and posting over and over, just discussing, heh.

Now that I think about it, I find it funny how many indie games I've bought that are probably "worse" than chime. I usually don't feel the need to support developers but I really love the idea of the indie games and have found a few very fun ones.

It's 7/5/2010, I'm trying to buy AfterBurner Climax, on the "featured Downloads" tab, it says 400pts, but click on "Unlock Full Game", the price still says 800pts! What gives?

The prices likely haven't been updated yet. It usually takes a few hours. Try around 9:30-10am.

Wait, what? Elaborate. I'm in need of like like twenty thousand mspoints and want to find them at a discount before buying.

Don't worry, even though it says '800', you are only charged 400 points in both ABC and MM10. And I thought this was only for today?
