Same here, it seems counterproductive for them.

I bought SSF4 for 360 and when my Gold account ran out a week later, I realized I had NO reason to resubscribe, so I traded in my 360 copy and bought it for PS3 since it's the only game I'm playing online on the consoles. Getting the PS3 version of the game was way cheaper than a year of live.

 • Netflix is on everything. No reason to pay to have it on 360.
 • Facebook/Twitter are REALLY on EVERYTHING. I bet there are calculators out there nowadays that you can tweet from. And a tv is the last place i want those services.
 • I think they mentioned on the cagcast that ESPN only works if your cable package includes ESPN. Pointless.
 • Last.FM .. again.. I can grab the nearest laptop, tablet, phone, whatever.
 • Zune .. its absolutely INSANE that they want you to pay for Gold on top of $15/month fo a zunepass. NO.

So, that's fine MS. Keep charging for what your competitors are giving for free and more and more of my game purchases will go to them. All for the sake of milking a few extra bucks a month out of people.
I've been thinking of getting Hasbro Family Game Night Scrabble for a long time. Anyone have any opinions on it?
Its Scrabble, you either love it or hate it.
I don't know much about Scott Pilgrim. Is it worth five dollars? This would be my first purchase on Live if I bought it. Thanks.
Have you played the demo yet? I personally think its definitely worth $5.

Two criticisms:

In local multiplayer, you can't look at your pieces during other players' turns. I can see how other people seeing your pieces could give them an advantage, but it really should be an option so that you can try to plan words in advance and make the game move faster.

Two, it stupidly asks you to create a save file or delete an existing one every time you play. There are 3 save slots, so after the slots fill, you'll need to chose a file to overwrite every. single. time. It's a nuisance.

Otherwise, it's a fantastic game. You can play with with parents and non-gamers, and it's convenient not having to count points or sort and clean up tiles.

Another thing that I would add is that there is very little in the way of options. This goes for pretty much all of the Family Game Night games. If I remember correctly, on Scrabble you cannot set any kind of time limit, so if one person wants to sit down his controller and walk away, you pretty much have to deal with it or quit. The other thing is that there is no option to end the game early if no one can find a word. As long as there is a possible word somewhere on the board, you will have to try every combination of letters until you find it. I haven't played it in a while so I could be mistaken, but this is how I remember it.

It is probably worth $5 but be prepared for possible aggravation depending on the kind of people you get matched up with. You could always buy the Family Game Night disc for a little more, but most of the games on it suck.
Unless I'm mistaken and haven't seen it somewhere, we know what's on sale for the week after next, but not for next week?
Either the date on Hasbro is wrong or there is a gap.

Bah, I misread the above; for about 3 seconds, I was extremely excited that they were porting over a Descent game.

Is Alien Breed still getting a disc based release with all the episodes on it? I read about that somewhere a while back. Could have been a different game though.
Sigh please don't let this thread be overrun with flawed arguments and general bitching about live.
Fixed.
Did someone complaining about Gold send up a bat signal or something, spurring you to rush in here and repeat a bunch of hooey that has -at most- nothing to do with the deals?
I guess so. Someone's panties must have been in a bunch.
I agree that the Live complainers need to go away. Completely uninteresting.
Gone for now.

Sorry for whatever problems came up after my post. Wasn't intending on it bringing complaints about the whole service. That's for another thread. :p

You won't really need to know much. The game has a sort of narrative that explains the story (sorta). All you need to know is that it's a 2D side-scrolling beat-em-up similar to River City Ransom, TMNT and Double Dragon. It's just plain fun as hell.

fucking awesome that Blade Kitten and the Dragon Age DLC are still showing up as on sale; I was really worried I wouldn't be able to get the DLC before it shot back up, but Blade Kitten still being on sale is crazy.

Glad MS has gotten somewhat lazy since the new dash update, haha.

For those Hasbro games going on sale, are any of those the ones that aren't included on either of the Family Game Night discs? I might pick those up considering that's the only way to get them.

Family Game Night: Battleship, Boggle, Connect Four, Sorry!, Sorry! Sliders and Yahtzee.
(No 2 for Xbox??)
Family Game Night 3: The Game of Life, Clue, Twister, Mouse Trap, Yahtzee Hands Down

Looks like Connect 4x4, Jenga, Pictureka, and Scrabble aren't on any discs.

I guess if I want C4, Jenga, Pictureka and Scrabble, I'll have to buy them on XBL.

I'd say buy all the family game night games. for $5 each they're worth it as they have xbl online multiplayer, new game modes and such. I also say Scott pilgrim vs the world is worth the $5 for sure. Don't know about Super meat boy just yet, gonna try the demo some more and see if I wanna purchase it as well..

Been waiting on the Family Game Night games to go on sale. Definitely picking up Connect 4x4, Jenga, and Pictureka to complete my collection.

I can confirm that Scrabble is on Family Game Night 1 disc in the US ONLY as I have it and got all the achievements for it. From my understanding on various message boards, Scrabble is NOT avilable in Europe or any other region.
I can't decide if I want to buy Super Meat Boy. I downloaded the trial, so I guess I'll try it out and see if I like it.
I'll probably end up putting more than a hundred hours of play time into Super Meat Boy.
I'm already at 9,000 deaths and around 50% completion.
Even if you play the trial and don't see what the big deal is,
the game has a lot more to see and do than the demo.

I know it's been mentioned before but...you might also try out the original Meat Boy game on Newgrounds.

It's basically the same thing. Which is to say it's 100% awesome.

It was brought up earlier. These were prior sales that never got updated in Destination Arcade. The price point when checking out will show the full price.
Picked up snoppy flying ace, Scott Pilgrim, peggle, and peggle nights 400MSP each.
wow, last week's dotw is still on sale? awesome

Cleaned up the OP

I don't think the 11/15 DotW will be a repeat of 6/28

EDIT (11/15/2010 12:25am):

Edited so I don't bump the thread. No info out of MS on next weeks sale. MajorNelson teased a Turkey Day sale on his weekly podcast. I will update the OP when I get up in the AM with the new sale (if it is up before I head to class)

I'll pick up Scott Pilgrim. I been waiting for it to go on sale since it doesn't have online co-op that was a deal breaker for me until now
Looks like Shank for 800 msp this week...

I liked the demo... let me know if you guys think the game is worth $10.
I'm not sure its worth $10. Cannot believe it wasn't $5, would have probably bought in a heartbeat. There is just no justification to spend a lot of $$$ on side-scrolling games (you know, like games some of us have been playing since 1985..)(Unless is Super Meat Boy, now that was worth it :D)

Ah so Shank is the week's deal? I might get it, I bought a 100 MSP code off eBay because that's all I needed, supposedly "sent immediately" and "same day", but he still hasn't sent it, which is a damn shame I really wanted SP.

But I might as well get Shank.

I'm downloading the trial for Shank. I'll have to really like it to buy it at 800 pts, though.

I started playing Scott Pilgrim and the game froze on me when I left one of the shops. Now I'm scared to go into any shop. :whistle2:|
