Lost Odyssey - Gen. Discussion & Info

It's really just for the achievements though - missing that last seed will keep you from getting a unique (and utterly useless) item that you need for the 4 immortals to learn all available skills. That's 4 50 point achievements there...
And thank you to io for the original link. Are you happy now, io?
No, because I didn't get the Treasure Trove achievement (to make it a nice 1000/1000) and I have NO FREAKING CLUE where anything else could be . I decided enough was enough and went and ground levels for the Blue Dragon achievements instead. At least those are straightforward (if time consuming).

4 20 point achievements. ;)
4 20 point achievements. ;)
Yeah, you're right. I guess it seemed like 50 to me because I didn't want to finish the game until I got this done. So I got the 80 and then the 125 for completing the game right afterwards - which sort of kind of adds up to 4 x 50... ;)

Yes...yes indeed. I have 980 and have totally run out of ideas for the Treasure Trove. All I can think is that maybe there's a little stream of bubbles in the middle of the ocean that I missed...but I've had quite enough of running around looking for shit after those seeds. Blah!

With the sheer amount of combing over areas I did looking for seeds, I'd better get the treasure trove achievement after finishing the Temple of Enlightenment (I found many missed items in Uhra and the trees in the Ipsilon Mtns.). I'm set for every other achievement after that.

That will be my goal for the next few days. :D

Don't count on it. I found all of ONE additional item besides a seed when I was down to my last 4 seeds and I went just about everywhere. And yet, no Treasure Trove ach when I got the last seed. I'm pretty sure I checked the ocean thoroughly as well. I'm sure it's just one thing, somewhere. Some day if I ever get the guide dirt cheap (like for a penny) I'll go through the areas again and look but without a detailed guide it is kind of pointless.

A link to a map with all the underwater treasures:
http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/showthread.php?t=60418

OMFG I just got the treasure achievement! After my seed hunt, I was still missing:
- A chest in the burning cavern that blended well with the background.
- A pot in Tosca that was partially obscured by the bridge.
- A chest in Gongora's mansion: same area as the three chests in the back room, but you have to pull out a box to get to the fourth chest.
(maybe counts) - A sidequest with the kids from Numara that opens up near the end of disc 4.

Awesome. Time to finish the backyard fights!

^^^ Bastard ;)

I wish I had a clue as to what I was missing. They should at least have put some indication on the map which ones still had items left. I wouldn't mind thoroughly searching an area if I knew for sure something was there. As it is I'd have to search *everything* thoroughly from the beginning.

So how did you find those last 4 things so easily?

I just literally started from the end of disc 3 (Burning Cave) and worked my way backwards, fleeing from every battle and checking the guide as I went. It did take about two hours to do, though, so I wouldn't call it "easy". Just set some time aside and be methodical about it. At least now you have a sea treasure map available. ;)

Anyway, finished the backyard, skill grinding and just beat the game. Damn fine ending; it didn't fall into much of the "WTF?" phase that a lot of JRPG's hit in the end, and I was quite surprised at a few of the plot elements.

Mistwalker, are you reading this? If so, I DEMAND MORE OF THIS FRANCHISE.

Yeah, see, I don't have the guide and as far as I'm concerned I went everywhere already. So without the guide I won't get too far trying that.

ohhhh i never pulled out any boxes in gongora's mansion. wouldn't it be great if that was the only one i needed. i may pull it out and check

EDIT: checked the chest and, alas, it was not the only one i needed, although i had indeed missed it. Pity. Well, that was my last foray into it. I yield.

Is this worth finishing? I'm on disc 4, 55 hours in, level 51 for my immortals in the "Legacy of the Eastern Tribe location...and I just got wiped out by some normal enemies an hour after a save point. Kind of frustrated with it. I've liked the story, but is it really worth pushing forward to the end?

Guess I just want some moral support maybe :D

Absolutely.

Dude, you made it that far. If those normal enemies keep killing you, maybe check out a FAQ, but don't stop now!
Hey guys I just started this, any tips/hints for a newbie? Things I should keep an eye out for, etc?

Thanks
shiny, twinkly things and posters flapping on walls. :)

Seriously, though. Just the standard RPG stuff.

Get some tissues, Moxy.

I ended up just running from every encounter in that place (they only gave me a few experience points anyway).

This is such a fantastic story...
Do you guys think I should read all of these memories? They're very long and cheesy. :X
Cheesy? I think they're excellent :(

Let me see if I have the skill system straight. I just started the game...

I can link Kaim and Seth to Jansen, and they will eventually learn certain skills. After a few battles, Kaim learns how to do blk magic level 1. Now, if I want the other level 1 black magic skills, I need to buy them? Or will Kaim eventually learn them from battling?

Then, if I picked up a skill for blk magic 1, would both Kaim AND Jansen learn it? Or just one?

By Black Magic Level 1 skills, I assume you really mean spells. The skills are the things the immortals learn from the mortals and then equip. The ability to cast level 1 black magic is a skill, but the various things you can cast are spells and they are found and/or purchased along the way. All chars who have the Black Magic level 1 skill can then use them.

Robots aren't meant to play Lost Odyssey.

Finally got the Treasure Trove achievement. Beat the game with 1000/1000 after 75 total hours. My last item was in the Black Cave in the second section on the far right. (Not the treasure chest where you have to fall from the floor above.) I actually ended up missing a few things from Uhra and one hidden item from the Burning Cave.

I'm sad the game is over and there's nothing left for me to do. :whistle2:(

75 hours? Damn, this game doesn't owe you a penny.

I'm on boss 2 now...any tips?

I'm in the Boa of whatever right now, I'm enjoying this game thus far.

Sean, the boss is pretty easy. Just have K+S attack the small guys while J Aquas the main baddie.

I actually recommend concentrating on the little guys only for the first round. Always leave one alive and then start pummeling the big guy.

Wow... I'm up over 90 and it would probably take another 5-20 hours to find whatever else I'm missing for the Treasure Trove achievement. I just find it hard to get motivated for that much time spent for the possibilty of just 20 more points ;).

I'm (I guess) basically at the end of the game, but I'm stuck:

I've gone through Grandstaff, and had Gongora take off on it. So I'm back in the White Boa...but I can't figure out where he went. I know I'm supposed to follow him, but I can't figure out how. I've flown around the whole world in the Nautalis and can't find where he went. There's a weird tower thing in the middle of the world, but I can't land there.

I've checked FAQs, but they just say to go towards this one village. I have, and nothing happens, there's nothing there.

In the mean time I'm just leveling up...

Head toward the outer west bank of the area with the Tower of Mirrors in the Nautilus. Get close to the shore and a cutscene will trigger which will open the path to the tower.

In the interest of sounding even dumber, where's the tower of mirrors? Is that the big tower thing I can't reach? I just go to the big cliffs to the west of that?

I guess this actually worked out for the best since I've leveled up at least 10 extra levels so far :)

The tower of mirrors in the thing in the lake surrounded by mountains in the approximate very middle of the map, that area you can't fly into. Just go up to the coastline to the west of the tower and it should trigger the event. You'll know it works when a kick ass FMV starts. :D

For those of you who have finished already.. is there a trick to fighting
Experiment Number 1
? I just keep getting rocked by it.. I hold my own in the rest of the battles. I'm stumped.

Not much. If you fight just a few battles in each area you'll be plenty leveled. Every level comes when you gain 100 XP. If you're underleveled in any way, each and every battle will give you the full 100 XP. Once you get past a certain level though, enemies in a given area will give like 4 XP for the rest of the game. Ergo it'll take about 25 battles for each level if you fight all the same enemies for the entire game. If you move to the next area and are underleveled, you'll start leveling like crazy again.

So yeah, I hope that made sense. Basically there's no real grinding required for the main game. Maybe a bit for some of the optional fights at the end, but even then it's not too pesky.

Thanks! I FINALLY found it. It's a REALLY little area you have to hit to trigger the thing.

I had the same problem finding it, too. It's the only part of the game where I had to consult an FAQ, and even those were only marginally helpful.

I got stuck a few more places then that, but it's not too bad compared to a lot of games!

One weird thing I just noticed:

I'm at the confrontation between the the party and Gongora in the tower of mirrors, and it seems like all at once Kaim's voice changes, like someone else is doing his lines (and they're not nearly as good). Maybe I'm just not used to him emoting that much, but I actually didn't know who was talking until I saw Kaim's lips moving :D

Now i tried to use babelfish to translate and got this

' Lost Odyssy ' download contents 3rd feature transmits from 2008 April 10th
"The search person of the John extra Don abyss" transmits For Xbox 360 which is in the midst of selling from Microsoft software ' lost Odyssy ' download contents 3rd feature, is transmitted from 2008 April 10th. As for the latest download contents, "search person of John extra Don abyss". It is possible to purchase with 400 Microsoft point. In John this additional Don, besides the fact that super rare it is not possible to get only here, the accessory is prepared, also the new boss appears." The strongest "avoiding in the prayer which you aim, you have become John Don who cannot pass. Furthermore, in order to play John this additional Don, the saving data of scenario final stage is with necessary. Already, the person who clears the game, also the person whom you intend probably to play from now on calls the download contents of seeing necessary may.

What i got from that, is that it is a new area in a underwater compound. There are new accessory(s) and a new boss. It will release on the japanese marketplace on april 10th. And you also must have a save file with the completed game on it to get to this place i think it says.

Im thinking we can get this DLC just like the others by creating a japanese gamertag and downloading it like normal, and it will just autotranslate like the other dlc packs. Hopefully its true because i would so get this. I loved this game and a new boss would be awesome.
