Lost Season 4 Discussion - Because You Left

dood so did anybody see the whale?!?!?!?!

you can only see the tail tho....

I was trying really hard to avoid this topic on CAG b/c I didn't watch the season finale until Sunday night.
I was ecstatic to see that my favorite character Desmond get a happy ending (for this season at least hehe). Hmm... my take on the future is that Ben wants his leadership position back with the others and needs Jack and the survivors to get back on the island to do so. Maybe he lied or tricked Locke into death to recapture the throne? He told Locke earlier that whoever moves the island can never go back, but he's lied plenty of times before

After a few moments of "Wtf is he talking about?, there's no whale in that picture", I finally got it.
The reason above made it quite comedic when Michael told Jin to "go because you are a father". Like Michael isn't.
It could be argued that was only an excuse, considering his actions prior to joining the crew on the boat. Either he believed he would survive, or he'd get what he was wanting.

I dont get it... care to explain :whistle2:s
Question
Is Claire really dead? I don't remember ever seeing her corpse
Claire has to be dead. I have a feeling that she was in the house that got hit with the RPG and died, though the fact that she later shows up (and shocks Sawyer) could be merely her spirit making sure that Aaron was fine before she could be at peace and essentially become part of the island.

She was under the rubble and Sawyer found her right after the explosion.

Right...but was it really her or
a manifestation by the island? I have a theory that when people die on the island, they get absorbed by the island, and therefore continue their afterlife as part of the island

By that logic,
Christian would have had to have died on the island.

Well, the body was on the plane when it crashed.
lol, yeah, it's known as the mighty "whale tail."
I didnt know that. I wish I hadn't spent 10 minutes trying to find a whale in the background

Might have been a 'return favor' nod to Valve. After all, some of the monitors in one of the Half-Life 2 episodes had "The Numbers" on them. (And no, I don't know where to look exactly, as I saw the screencap once on Kotaku.)

I think the common ground between Lost and the Half-Life series goes way beyond cheeky Easter Eggs and subtle references, though. Now that I think about it...Christian (roughly) = G-Man???

Now that you mention it, I think that Richard Alpert looks exactly like G-Man.... hmmmm... interesting...

there are too many characters that dont go along with that theory. boone, the pilot, the fbi agent, nikki, paulo, shannon, scott, steve, ana lucia, arzt... none of them have come back, even eko too (with the exception of crazy hurley playing chess with him off the island. not to mention the dharma people and the others that have died.

so really, while i think that the island some how incorporates people who "die" its certainly not absolute.

I think Claire is being manifested by Jacob. Yet Claire (as Jacob) told Kate not to bring Aaron back to the Island in Kate's dream. Yet Ben says ALL SIX of the O6 need to go back, that includes Aaron.

Why does she have to be?

The little kid has made "visits" and he's still alive.

I firmly believe that some/most of the apparitions, seen awake or in a dream, are Jacob/the Smoke Monster/the Island using real people as 'avatars' to manipulate people into doing what he/it wants.

The whole Claire dream for Kate is totally at odds with all other signs pointing to them having to go back. Then again, maybe that's the only 'good' vision, and the "Claire" we saw in the cabin wasn't really her.

Oh, who the fuck knows! That's why we watch, that's why we can't stop.

ATTENTION ALL RECRUITS
RE: CONFIRMATION OF LAUNCH DATE FOR VOLUNTEER TESTING

I am pleased to announce that, following an extensive security audit of all departments within the Dharma Initiative, I am totally satisfied that DharmaWantsYou.com is now secure. As a result I am able to confirm a date for the commencement of our latest volunteer testing program.

Visit www.dharmawantsyou.com to confirm the launch date.

I have heard from many of you in recent weeks via email asking what will be assessed in the program and what the nature of our latest research is. I have found your enthusiasm and relentless curiosity extremely endearing. However, in the interests of maintaining the integrity of the testing process, I cannot be forthcoming on these enquiries.

Despite this, I would like to affirm to you all that I am extremely optimistic about these upcoming evaluations and believe that they will yield recruits of the highest caliber.

Good luck to all applicants.

Together we can guide the world to a better tomorrow.

Namaste,

Hans Van Eeghen

Im guessing they'll have quizzes like these every so often (the first ones today, but it hasn't been updated yet) and the top 10 people to get these right will be on the leaderboard.

This show is the king of viral marketing. Nobody else can compare. What is this, like the 20th mystery website related to the show? They're too obvious about it now though. Dharma was a dead giveaway and there's even ABC disclaimers at the bottom. The first site they did was the coolest site I've ever seen and made pretty much direct Lost references.

Damn, looks like they shut down the handofoundation webpage. There's just a placeholder image of a letter from Hanso.

Sign up and take a test (Im pretty sure you can answer whatever you want and you'll still pass. I have yet to see anyone that has failed). There's another test (one that counts for the leaderboards) that you can take if you click on "Test 1".

However, the site isn't letting me log in right now for some reason.

EDIT: It's up and basically you arrange pieces of a square to form a square. You have 100 seconds and when you finish, the remaining seconds count as 1 point each. I finished with 1 second left so I only have 1 point.

fart_bubble isn't wanted by Dharma! :whee:

My best so far for Test 1 is 46. Someone on another forum got 86, which is crazy.

EDIT: I just got 59.

You can also score points by inviting other people to join Dharma. If anybody wants an invite to help me out (You don't need an invite, this is just to help me get points) send me a PM with your email address.

i followed the first game. juice isn't worth the squeeze in my case.. although the video they showed at comic con with marvin candle was bad ass.
The first time, I got 34. Second time, I got 63
I just got 62.
shit, now I don't even get the page saying "Site Is Updating". All I get is a blue screne
That "Site Is Updating" thing was up for everbody last night. Refresh the screen if it never loads. The site is pretty slow because of everybody using it.

EDIT: I got 77.
