LOST - The Final Season - LOST Auction Aug 21-22 (Post 1439)
i was also thinking the mother was sarah because isnt juliet in miami with her sister and the pregnancy thing? and jack is from somewhere else
Yeah, but this is the alternate timeline. Rose is supposed to be living in New York, but in the alt-timeline, she's shown working for a temp agency in California.

In the Flash-sideways I wonder if they'll have someone rescue Jacob from a burning building with an ominous pillar of smoke coming from the flames.

I'm not sure what to make of all this. That's two episodes in a row that didn't really advance the plot. What did we learn? We knew Jacob has been watching everyone and we knew they each had numbers assigned to them. We knew Hurley could see Jacob and we knew that Jack was defiant and couldn't be told what to do. We knew Claire was a crazy jungle lady and we knew that Kate was done with Jack. Seriously, what happened? OK, Jack has a kid who can play piano in the sideways world - who cares?

The Claire being the new Rousseau thing is just dumb. She doesn't remember abandoning her baby in the middle of the jungle and following her dead daddy?

What ever happened to Rousseau anyway? Did she die?

shit man, people need to calm down. they are setting up everything for the rest of the season. did you expect them to just reveal everything to us in the first 4 episodes? cmon now, we all know they arent going to reveal something until the inevitable 3 hour finale, and even then they are going to leave a lot of things up to the imagination.

all i know is that claire is now the most bad ass person on the island now. im and looking forward to a kate/claire meet up.

They've got so many loose ends that they couldn't possibly tie it all up in one, two, or 15 episodes. This is where Lost loses me, when they try to convince me that the answer to a given question isn't worth a direct treatment because either there's a newer question out there or the question itself is somehow "open to interpretation" and much hand waving.

They should've looked to BSG. I'm not sure that I like BSG's final season as much as its other seasons, but I do appreciate that in that final season, just about every episode felt big. It was the opposite of this situation: with BSG I was concerned that the show was moving too fast in tying up unresolved plot lines. And despite this pacing, BSG's final season somehow kept barrelling forward -- it didn't provide too much too soon and fall apart. It attempted some resolution, introduced a few smaller elements to keep things moving, and raised a few challenging issues in the process.

I'm going to see Lost to its end, but I don't think it's unfair to expect more of these episodes. I think the problem is that the writers still want this to be character based, where they're still giving us a chance to explore characters (e.g. good daddy Jack, repentant hardened criminal Kate, etc.). Well, guess what? We've been with these characters for over 100 episodes. The writers have had a lot of time to detail these folks. That time has passed. Now make an honest effort at resolution, don't duck out on it with character studies in an alternate timeline.

EDIT: Also, yes, to bmulligan, Rousseau is dead. She got plugged by Widmore's boys. C'est la vie.
michael better be dead and not show up on the last episode and shoot someone in the back and save the day haha
More like Walt will show up and become a badass. Then finish the episode with "They took my Father!"
What ever happened to Rousseau anyway? Did she die?
Yes.

Suddenly, Miles slows and looks uneasy as whispers and flashes swirl about. He stops walking, listens, and asks, "Who's Danielle and Karl?". He starts pushing aside the leaf litter to find both of their bodies semi-buried in mud, flies swirling.

On a side note, it's a bit sad that the only interesting thing about the alternate universe is Jack and the mysterious injuries he doesn't seem to remember getting (i.e. appendectomie from Julier, gunshot graze to the neck, etc.). Aside from that, I really don't think we need more/alternate backstories for characters who've already had 8+ focal episodes.
i think the real question people have is... whos talking to dead people power is better, hurleys or miles?
Miles... no question. Hurley can't control his, while Miles can open up and hear things no problem.

The problem is that's a lot of our fears. That we've been watching this show for 6 years, and we won't get a satisfactory resolution. Oh well, I'll enjoy the ride, and if the ending sucks I won't bother picking up the series on blu ray.

That said I liked the last couple episodes, especially the one with un-Locke and Sawyer.

I'm curious to see if this weeks episode lives up to the hype of the preview where they
showed barely anything saying the episode revealed to much to do a full preview
.

oh im sure well get a resolution. but for something people are going to have to be satisfied with vague answers last week (like the skeletons in the cave) for less cental issues, or perhaps even no answers.

There will be a resolution, just a matter if it's satisfactory.

I don't care so much about little small questions like that, just that the main story is wrapped up convincingly and in an non-cheesy manner.

Yes, I'm in the same boat. On a different message board I was shouted down and characterized as wanting "answers to everything" because I wanted to see the larger issues in the show resolved satisfactorily. It's not like I want to know HOW DID EKO'S BROTHER FIND THE ISLAND? or WHY ASH AND NOT GUNPOWDER OR FAERIE DUST? But I would like to know, for example, how Christian fits into the picture (his shoes on Locke, for instance), how the Island heals on one hand but hates fetuses on the other, maybe the origins of the donkey wheel, so on.

These aren't trivial issues -- they're points that have been raised to move the plot along and support/rationalize future events in the viewers mind. They've taken on such significance in the show that it's dishonest, in my opinion, to treat them as unimportant and not worthy of a little resolution.

I don't get why Claire would want to kill Kate if she knew Kate was raising Aaron? Claire abandoned Aaron to chase Christian, and when she couldn't be found Kate did what was best for Aaron. The only thing I can think of is what the psychic told her. But still...

Lol, so THAT'S who Jin was supposed to deliver the watch to?!

Yeah, Claire's psychic visit makes sense now. Glad to see that despite the episodes being rather underwhelming (up to this point), they fill in some holes. I don't think this show is going to pick up though until a Ben- or Desmond-centric episode. Those are the only ones the seem to move the plot forward by more than just baby steps.
I missed it. what happened? Who was jin taking the watch to & who r on the sides?
It's implied that Jin had to take the watch to Keamy. The scene is not shown, but because he doesn't know much English and is part of some organized crime, he probably only had a name and address leading to Keamy.

The sides so far is
Man in Black (Smoke monster): Sayid, Claire, Sawyer, many of the Others, possibly Kate and Jin (They're physically with them but not necessarily taken his cause like the others to leave the island or some wild promise)

Jacob: Jack, Hugo, Ilana, Miles, Sun, Ben, Lapidus

I went to the Paley Fest lost panel last Sat and the writers told the crowd "If the characters don't care about the question then chances are you shouldn't either". Its kind of a decent response to the mountain of questions fans have come up with over the run of the show.

It was a good show, again the alt universe had Jin and Siad meet up. And they killed off 2 characters so that gives the rest of the crew more screen time. I like that. Glad to see sides being drawn.

It looks like the promo shot from season 6 might show the way the battle lines will be drawn.

Except Ilana and Richard are both on the far left.

SAYID- "Who is he?" (smoke monster/unLocke)

TOGAN- "He's evil incarnate."

Really? That's it? He's evil incarnate. That's all we get?
Evil incarnate. Yeah, we knew that already.
Yup, well, that answers THAT question.
Whew, I was afraid they weren't going to answer any mysteries.

Yeah... ten episodes to wrap every question up... i just don't see it happening based on the rate things are being shown this season.

I thought at least they would go into some kind of backstory with it... but no.

which leads me with all the question answering.

I think they have it tied to what I call "Lost for Retards" repeat that they show before the show. Spelling it out for all to see.

It's like we already assume what the answers are, and the answers that they are given are just what we already know except actually spoken for in the episode...

I'm praying for a Desmond episode.

anyone know why SAYID refered to the women he loved as IT instead of Her

i think he said he would never see IT Again ... why wouldnt he say ... He would never see her again?

IT ?

Well he referred to it as the 'thing' he wanted most, Sayid replied with the only thing I loved died in my arms, and I will never be able to see it again. I'd say it's safe to assume without much of a leap it was meant to be Nadia.

I'm assuming they will show a backstory for both Jacob and the fake Locke/smoke monster by the end of the season. Hopefully they start at the beginning of their whole relationship.

Solid episode. Didn't live up to the promo from last week which said a lot would be revealed etc. Not much revealed, but at least a lot happened. Killing off the two main new characters in the temple was a pleasant surprise as they won't have to waste more time on them and can focus on main characters.

Better episode than the past few, but I agree, still not a lot of answers. Knowing only 10 episodes are left has me a bit worried though. I really hope the ending isn't as cheesy as the Battlestar Galactica one was.

10 episodes plus the 2 hour finale to be clear. So 12 hours total left (counting commercials). So 11 or 12 episodes, depending on whether the finale is one 2 hour episode or two 1 hour episodes aired on the same night (probably the former).

I think we got a shit-ton of answers/ reveals. The problem with the show is that for 5 seasons we've been conditioned to question EVERYTHING and it's a hard habit to break. I see people arguing the significance of cooking eggs. C'mon.

Do we really want them to spend the last eleven or twelve hours (depending on the math) just downloading answers to island mysteries? I'd rather them focus on telling an awesome story. Last night's episode was great. It made the Man in Black threat more real, further solidified the "sides" to the coming war, and proved that Sayid can kick serious ass when he wants to. Besides, how creepy is Claire now?

I think that was the best episode of the season yet. I have heard that the 8th episode will focus on Richard, so I'm looking forward to that one.
I'm praying for a Desmond episode.
hes been listed in the credits the past couple episodes... its gotta be coming.

yeah, i think they will. just like they took an episode to introduce them last year, i think theyll take an episode to go into their whole story, the island etc. i bet it will be one of the last 3 or 4, so be patient.

i agree. the flash sideways thing is getting frustrating, it needs to start coming together quickly.

i really like how the show is shaping up, characters that weve gotten to know and think of good people are now taking sides in a secret war. should be very interesting to see how this all pans out.
