Lumines Live! - Drops to 800pts This Wed. + Holiday Pack 20 Skins 400pts October 17th

The constant stringing along made me lose interest, like, three months ago.

I'll download the demo, but I really don't want to pay that much if I like it. I'll use shipwreck's guide and get it for 50% off, with my friend, if he likes it.

I got up early and picked it up. I own the PSP and Cell Phone versions of this game. I really like it. I only had enough time to play 10m of it b4 work. It was fun, the bocks are bigger than I thought they would be, I am on a 32" Samsung LCD HDTV (Widescreen) and it looks just how I would have hoped. That is easy to see from a distance. The colors look great. I hope to get in some multi player tonight.

I hope several of you get this so we can play.

The Major sez:

The full version of this game is 1200 points. In addition, the optional 'Lumines Live! Advance pack is available for download for 600 points.

Edit: The Advance pack will be along at a later date. Sorry about the false alarm, as you can imagine things are moving quickly.

I don't know. I'd rather not support this nonsense, but I do not have Lumines for any other platform so it somewhat takes the bite out of it.

Lumines was one of the main reasons I wanted to get the info out there. I'll definitely be finding a friend to split the cost on this one.

Got this from another forum... God if true this game is going to be around friggen 50$ w/o someone finding deals on Pnts. This is just super gay since I thought I was buying the *FULL* version. It seems like a dam 1200pnt demo.

You cant even buy the rest yet if you wanted to.

Ouch...thats too bad. I started thinking positive about this at first, thinking, well the PSP version is $20 so, I guess its the same, but knowing that they are selling us an incomplete package pisses me off. Damn, I hope I hate the demo so I'm not inclined to purchase it.

I played the demo in the morning it was Lumines just like you would excpect it to be , but I didn't buy it yet , being I been waiting for reactions from other people who bought the full game version(Which Doesn't really sound like it's a full game). I can't see myself buying a game that is incomplete that makes me buy extra packs to make it a full version game when it already cost a hefty amount of money. I will have to wait and see how this turns out.

That's the worst part... that the rest of it isn't even up on the marketplace. They just sold us a 1200 point demo.

Major pass for me, maybe if the base game was 800 points, but I'm not paying 1200 for a demo.

I only hope people don't buy this because the more people that throw down all the points are just letting developers know that "Hey, this is ok!"

Full version my ass.
I played the demo was good didn't pay for it cause I was waiting for reactions and BS extra packs like this to give me more reason why itsn't worth it to me.
MYYYYYYYY... BRAIN!!!!!!

Indeed. You're a tool if your opinion is "I don't like this, so I'll just buy the main game."

You aren't getting the full game, and you're supporting their market test whether or not you think so.

Besides, when the shock of paying $15 for a downloadable game wears off, along with the luster of the game, in a few months time, $6.75 (or whatever it is) for a refreshing expansion pack is going to sound like a great idea.

Maybe by "Full Version" they meant:

Full of Shit Version
MYYYYYYYY... BRAIN!!!!!!
Haha sorry for the bad grammer maybe it makes more sense now.

I completely forgot the D-pad was a peice of crap, it was almost impossible to play for me. I was willing to pay the $20 for it too since well, what other options do we have for Lumines? Either buy a PSP and it or buy the equally priced PS2 version.

I don't know if it was just the trial but didn't the song switch after every level? It felt like the song went on forever.

On the PSP version, if memory serves, The song/skin/theme changes about every 5 levels.

Buy the equally priced PS2 version that comes with all the game modes, you forgot that part.

If this was the full game and not this test market crap, I probably would have got a points card today.

At this point, I rather they would have made a 360 retail version for $20 and included everything rather than string us along.

Well the most upsetting part is even if you want to pay unlimited amounts of $ for "everything"..... you can't. Spacing out release of the rest of the game just because they can is stupid as hell.

Okay, so let me get this straight--

VS CPU mode isn't full.

but Challenge mode is? that's pretty much all I play in Lumines, so CPU mode wouldn't matter so much to me.
I just noticed that Lumines doesnt show up in my gamer tag after playing it. I dont see it in other peoples.
Xbox.com is down.

Shit. This is what I was afraid of. It's the same reason I didn't buy any of the arcade releases after Frogger. The SNES pad is like 15 years old - why can't they get it right?

Just use the analog stick?

I never use the D-Pad unless I'm forced too and I can't think of a game that didn't let me just use the analog stick.
good time to get the hori X360 gamepad
I actually found that D-pad to be worse. at least for DoA4 and Sf2. It way too tight for me. it's all a matter of opinion of course.

My D-Pad is messed up and won't register "right" half the time. I got used to using the analog stick on Pacman and Dig Dug but I don't see myself using it for 2D fighters.

I gave the demo of Lumines a go before heading to work this morning, the analog is very responsive and the game sounds good in 5.1. Considering that I owed a PSP for Lumines (and I miss it), I may give the 360 version a go. It is cheaper then buying another PSP and a copy of the game.

After playing the demo their is 3 extra advance packs all together. They have a Mission pack, The Advance Pack and a Puzzle Pack I think it was. Which all together means they should have never made this a Xbla title and just made it a real game you can buy in a store.

the second song in Challenge mode is one of my favorites :D makes me wanna buy this NOW! but I'm waiting till sunday, with the BB points deal (Buy and 360 game, get 1600 points for $4.99)

D-pad is awful. Analog stick is somewhat better, but for something like this I'd rather use the pad.

Not a deal-breaker as I'll probably still get it, but disappointing.

*Edit* - Never mind. The deal breaker is the multiple 600-point packs you have to buy. I would be ok with it if it were around 20 bucks as it's a newer game and good quality, but I won't fucking support this "the sky's the limit!" pricing unless I can find some 1600 point cards for 10 bucks a pop.

thought I'd make this REALLY obvious for those who are bummed about the price:

LUMINES LIVE: THE CHEAP AND EASY WAY.
A FAQ Production by A. Possum
Published by CAG Inc., a subsidiary of Devil Customer Productions Ltd.

1. Our close friends at Best Buy are having a nationwide sale on Sunday.
----Buy any 360 game, get 1600 MS Points for $4.99

2. So far, there are no exclusions. It's entirely possible there was some error with this and it may end up YMMV.

3. Buy games, buy MS points. I recommend Ridge Racer 6, since it's $19.99.

4. You should be able to return the games and keep the points. I'm gonna say this is YMMV, but since it isn't a BOGO or anything like that, I'm guessing the blue shirt will just look over it as a normal $4.99 item.

5. ???

6. Lumines Live, the Advance pack and a spare 1400 MS points for $10.00, at the very least

Please, no bitching about the ethics behind returning the games. It's no worse than, say, paying half price for a live game by sharing it with your friend.

me too :) I added a disclaimer...but I don't see why it wouldn't work.

Shhh, talking like that will get you flamed by some around here like a wiener on a spit.
Puzzle mode, Mission mode, VS CPU mode are stripped down. This fucking sucks !
Oh yeah that was the 3rd one so stupid what they did. I was looking foward to this game so long , but I can't support that bs.
If this is true I'm going to bleed BB dry.
Better make sure to hit different BB's... most BB's around me, at least, always have the same customer service rep's and they will catch on to something like this real fast, espically if it's the same person over and over.

The only reason it wouldn't work is because the receipt will somehow mark it somewhere as a deal, and if you get a very astute CSR or someone who knows the ad for that week, it won't work.

Lumines live is pretty stripped down and shitty. I knew I should have just stayed playing the PSP version. Oh well. Too late now.
