Just tried to download the demo and I am having the same problem.

Here is a audio interview that just got release today with creator Tetsuya Mizuguchi. He talks about how he plans on releaseing tons of packs basically and holiday song packs. I can't afford this game and you can't resell the game what a load of $hit.

I wouldn't care if the packs were reasonable priced, but cmon, 600 points? That's almost the cost of SF 2.

I hate how they hold back content thats not right.

though it isn't resellable, it isn't a bad idea.

okay-- let me preempt this by saying the initial 1200 point base pack IS a load of shit. the mission pack, advance pack and other one should've been included.

the new optional pack idea is great though. It's cool if they keep on building on top of the base like that and add new songs every few months, as long as it's like 20 new songs...eventually the game will be huge.
Do these extra packs affect the achievements in any way?
No , which I'm suprised they wouldn't. Unless they knew if they did that people would complain like crazy to them.
This game is going to end up costing like $25 in the end.
More then that. Imagine all 3 packs are 7.50 each + The actual game 15.00 and on top of that any other music packs they may release , but those are okay to be optional. but the other 3 actually complete all the game modes. Your looking at 37.50. Which makes it a game that should have been sold in a store.

fuck this nickel and dime shit. I'm just going to spend the $30 and get the retail version for PSP.

I'm usually all for XBLA pricing, but this crosses the line. Thanks MS for fucking up a great game.

Jeremy

This game is actually 1800 point if you want to play all the VS CPU levels. 22 bucks for an XBLA Game...not to fond of that idea.

Honestly, when I heard the term "micro transaction" I assumed it would be small things, like Oblivion's 150 - 200 point limits... EA going for 300 was a bit excessive, I thought.

But it's no longer a microtransaction when you push past 300 points, imo. The sad part is I reeeeeeeeeeeally want Lumines, because I'd play it so much more on the 360 than on my PSP.

I just can't give in to being ripped off like this it's just not right.

So... what's missing with just the demo? Achievements?

If it's just achievements I can live with that.

I was definately going to get Lumines but I don't like all this add on BS for extra points. I want the full game now, not part of it and then you keep nickeling and dimeing me. This went from a must have to the backburner for now for me. Thanks for all the info everyone.

I think when all is said and done, it'll have more content than the PS2/PSP versions, but it's going to cost a little more...like all 360 games.

as a standalone game, I would've been happy to pay $30. The XBLA is making it look a lot worse though.
Thats probably the best thing for everyone. They screwed this up for sure by trying to get the most money out of it they could and its backfired on them or at least it seems like it might.
this 1up article brings up a good point: maybe some people don't want mission packs etc and won't have to buy them....but you still need the advance pack for the fuller game experience.

I think this is sure to backfire though, and hopefully never happen again :)

I took the plunge since Q? is a huge influence on my life's dreams... I can say I'm happy with it, though some modes were a bit too limited. Plus the vs. live games can lag at times where it's nearly unplayable.

I had about 200 left over, so I had to buy the 1000 extra points. Long ago I already decided I was going to get this, so the microtransactions dont bother me. As long as it's not overpriced, I'm good. 600 for 22 new skins is great, but if I have to pay for everythign else (mainly vs. CPU, sincne it was my favorite mode) then I'll just buy what looks good to me. But again, the Lag makes online matches near unplayable since you'll always be thrown off on where you want your blocks to be...
Well did you at least have points from a pervious sale?
are you talking about pr0n? who buys pr0n with ms points?? :D
I'm sticking with the PSP version. fuck this.
I thought this was going to be the 2nd great XBLA game after Geometry Wars (IMO, many of the other games are way over priced and are only worth it for easy achievements), but I guess I was wrong. Luckily I only paid $20 for my PSP Lumines, that contained 40 skins. Lumines II will only cost me $30 and I could buy Lumines Plus for PS2, for around $30. I rather buy them because I only pay ONE price, and get ALL the content, instead of a stripped down game, where I gotta pay for more.

Now I wonder what those who thought Lumines Live would mean the PSP version is no longer needed, are thinking right now.

Had to get it too since Lumines is awesome. I was gonna wait for the sale Sunday, but realized that buying the base game won't put me in a cardboard box.

Live really needs to be fixed. If they fix the lag, I'm going to be on this a lot :)

Can't beat the reggae song. fast blocks + slow clear line = >_<

Now I wonder what those who thought Lumines Live would mean the PSP version is no longer needed, are thinking right now.

We're losing some content and have to buy this piecemeal (i.e. we're getting raped) but I like the game better on a console. if they fix the lag on live, then I'll probably forget about the PSP/ps2 version altogether.

Am I the only one who's having problems downloading it? Maybe too many people are trying to get the demo at once.. I've been trying all night, and it dies at 1%. However, I'm downloading everything else on Live just fine. Jesus tapdancing christ MS, get your shit together.

Hi:

I've not been able to download the demo all night. I get something like "Error code 800700003" but I've been able to download other items.

Anyone having this problem?

Kevin

They may have screwed with the demo, and figured people would pay for it out of frustration. Then they can release inflated nominal #'s in a press release.

I say download it, and call MS to bitch about the problem to get your points back (that you wanted to play the game, but technical difficulties prevented you from trying the demo.. it blew.. and you want your points back). Voila! Free Lumines.

It's a long shot.. but hey, think like a cheapass :)

The Challenge mode Advance Pack is the first add-on pack for “Lumines Live!”, and includes 22 new skins (20 skins + 2 bonus skins) for additional, challenging game experiences. Due to a technical issue with yesterday’s upgrades to Xbox Live, the Advance Pack is temporarily unavailable, but will be available for download by 2:00 a.m. Pacific Time on Friday or earlier.

What is this sale you speak of?

Best Buy - Buy any X360 game get a 1600pts card for $4.99

Damn I wanted to hate this game, but I was finally able to play the demo and loved it. The music is awesome too.

The D-Pad is a little weird, as usual. The Thumbstick is a little to sensitive, you try to move a little and it goes over to the far right or left, it takes time getting used to but the game is addictive.

Personally if I had to choose between having to pay 2000 points (whatever it may cost) or 1200 & 800 more for the rest of the game, I would choose the latter. I'm perfectly content with the 1200 price point and I really don't care about all the extra stuff.

This whole situation is justi folks grasping at something to bitch about.

I might get this game regardless. I was able to pick up 3200 MS Points from Overstock during a sale for a total of $8 or so dollars so I'm still saving, but I'll wait 'till I hear about pricing for all the announced packs.

I was and still am exicted for this game, but I won't be buying it. As far as microtransactions are concerned, camel, straw, back, etc.
Quick question about the BB 1600 MS Points for $4.99 thing, do the points on the card have an expiration date?
Nope. Just be careful scratching off the back part. Goo Gone, amazingly enough, works quite well with that.

I could not even download the TRIAL after about 3 tries. This was last night, when LIVE was having issues. I guess I'll try again today.
