I rented American Psycho again. God, what a fine film. I should buy it, but I'm a bit short on the monies.

'Let's see you get reservations at Dorcia now, you fucking bastard!'

Memoirs of a Geisha

Not bad though I envisioned a few things differently (though I'll admit I would probably say that about almost all movies based on books I've read)

The Sound of Thunder

ASSRAPING of a Ray Bradbury classic. Seriously, the movie is a piece of poorly done CGI Hollywood crap. How they got Ben Kingsley to do this confounds me. :bomb: Poor ol' Ray's probably wishing he were alive so he could kill himself at the abomination of his literary classic.

Juliet of the Spirits

A visual feast, with wonderful cinematography; a great film overall, one of the finest Fellini's I've seen.

I know this is a thread about movies we've seen but I gotta plug Brick. I just saw the preview and I popped a woody (or Buzz Lightyear, whatever floats your boat). It's a noir-ish detective story set amongst a highschool (or college?) backdrop. And it starts Gordon Levitt from the tv show 3rd Rock from the Sun.

Just watched Fargo, amazing movie.

I am open to any coen brothers recomendations you guys might have - I've seen Raising Arizona, Big Lebowski, and O brother Where Art Thou

Umm, The Hudsucker Proxy - directed by the Coen Brothers and featuring Bruce Campbell.

If you're a Coens fan, The Man Who Wasn't There and Blood Simple are required viewing. I have the feeling that Hudsucker Proxy and Barton Fink are too, but I haven't seen either yet. And I'm pretty sure you can skip The Ladykillers (or, better yet, watch the 1955 original).

Wedding Crashers. FINALLY. I've been wanting to see it since it was at the theatres!!!

I watched it twice. In a row. That's how great it was.

I look forward to Red Eye this coming Tuesday.

Shallow Hal(it was on tv and like a train wreck, i couldn't look away) and Akira on UMD!

Ya, the Ladykillers was pretty bad.

Donnie Darko: The Directors Cut

Watched the non-DC version a while ago, I must say this version was more explanitory. Excellent movie. Jake Gyllenhall's second best movie after Bubbleboy :D

I just saw Fantastic Four. It was surprisingly not as bad as I thought it was going to be. It fills the gap nicely between the crap (DareDevil, Hulk) and the good stuff (Spider-Man, X-Men).

If I had to rate the Coen's work, I'd rate it as such:

1.) Barton Fink (one of the best screenplays in film history; period)
2.) The Big Lebowski
3.) The Man Who Wasn't There
4.) O Brother, Where Art Thou?
5.) Miller's Crossing
6.) Raising Arizona
7.) Fargo
8.) The Hudsucker Proxy
9.) Blood Simple.
10.) The LadyKillers
11.) Crimewave (The XYZ Murders)
12.) Intolerable Cruelty

In regards to "The LadyKillers", by film standards, it's better than most -- by Coens standards, it's not their best, but still terrific. A very nice representation of "karma".

And then we have "Hail Caesar" coming out this year, along with "Suburbicon" and "No Country For Old Men" coming out next year.

Wow I've actually seen Ladykillers, I had no idea that was a Coen movie it was so crappy, I think I actually turned it off about 3/4 of the way through it was so bad.
TMNT 2 secret of the ooze!!!

and what a secret it is....

*** SPOILER ALERT ***

it MADE the turtles...AND splinter!
and Toka and Razor (Toh-ka, Ray-Zar...Destroy them!)

Ever seen the director's cut of Daredevil? Quite a bit better, I'd rank it higher than Fantastic Four which was a bit too silly for my tastes.

I've never seen the director's cut, but the normal version was so awful that I can't imagine a different cut would make the movie any better for me.

in the theatre - harry potter
on dvd madagascar and serentity...spending most of my time watching all the tv box sets i got during the deep discount dvd sale

Andrei Rublev

I just couldn't get into it, I got really disconnected and distanced from it fairly early on, and the three and a half hour runtime made watching it a chore.

Grandma's Boy, I don't recommend seeing this one unless you just really like dick and fart jokes and it has a little bit do with video games.

King Kong, I enjoyed it but it just ran a little long for me.

Audition: Uncut Special Edition

Going on my top ten favorite movies. You WILL turn your head. Had to watch a less disturbing movie just to go to bed last night.

The Silence of the Lambs

An excellent thriller, and Anthony Hopkins as Hannibal creates quite simply one of the best villains to ever grace the screen.

Just watched 12 monkeys for the first time.

I think this movie could have been done better. Maybe it was better when it first came out.

Barton Fink

Sheer brilliance. The surreal atmosphere, the wonderful characters, the askew humor, it's all so perfectly Coens, and one of their best films, if not their best film. It's just what I needed to watch right now, a movie I could completely fall in love with.

Syriana

Decent flick has alot going on buy very predictable

I'm looking foward to The Constest Gardener on DVD this week

Memoirs of a Geisha. Now I gotta read the book. My wife said it was a little different than the movie.

Next up: Transporter 2

What one are you talking about?

Give me some details here.

Anyone watch the Grizzly Man yet?

My most recent rewatched favorites are The jacket and Boondock Saints..

Otherwise Into the Blue (which i happened to watch) was 5-6/10 Wedding crashers was pretty good.

I still think 40 year old Virgin gets better each viewing...

I have a Hollywood Video movie access pass... and I've watched every good movie available.. now I'm onto the crap.

Sky High - god awful

Slipstream (with Sean Astin) - doesn't even look like it was finished...

omg I need a life

These are some of the most useless threads on the whole forum...and thats saying alot...Plus the titles are always gay.

Lil' Pimp -
Watched it because of the interesting backstory and cuz I love animation. Well...yeah...no, there's a reason it went straight-to-video. It was lame.

The Wild Parrots of Telegraph Hill -
Eh, kinda dull at times but worth seeing for a nice light rental. The parrot's behavior is amusing.

I guess this counts--La Portrait de Petite Cossette [Portrait of Little Cossette].
It was--interesting. Some of the animation was bizarre/stylish just to be so, and I felt like I missed some exposition about the characters relationships, but the story itself was pretty cool.

Tom Yum Goong - thin plotline but yet another showcase of the incredible tony ja, if you haven't heard of this man then go rent or buy Ong Bak you'll be amazed by the things this man can do and no stuntman! This movie is pretty much like Ong Bak but this time tony ja fights to find his elephant and the fight scenes are incredible especially the end.

I couldn't convince my wife to go see Hostel, so we ended up seeing The Ringer instead. OMG, was that terrible. I fell asleep at least 3 times during the movie and my wife kept waking me up. It's one of those movies that if you've seen the trailer, you've seen all the funny scenes (except for the whole ice cream conversation).
