Madden '10 - Gen. Discussion & Info

How in the hell did the Lions get a 65 rating???

I mean they did lose 16 games last year. Damn, I'd have expected a 12, but 65?

EA must be run by Lions fans!!

On a serious note, it is starting to look good, I haven't picked the game up in a few years, I preferred NFL 2K, but might give this Madden a go. Can't wait to see the Giant's stats!
 
As a random heads up, I'll be doing running another Madden CAG League.
This time, I won't have to do anywhere near as much, because its PROPERLY SET UP ONLINE THIS TIME!
Signups will begun mid-late July, and don't bother taking the Vikings :)
 
I was planning to start a league if you didn't. This saves me some work! My Packers will dominate your Vikings just like they did when we clashed in Madden 09. Mwahahaha!

It's such a shame EA sports got so scared of 2k sports that they had to buy up the rights to the NFL for all these years. With Madden not having any real competition, they have continued to put out a slightly better game each year.

won't be buying it, but it looks pretty awesome... they have photo realistic graphics this year and it looks awesome.

Also, the Wii version this year is more like an arcade type game, it looks really fun as well.

No it hasn't. I loved 2K5, but the last 2 Maddens (especially 09) have been better than any 2K football games. And All-Pro 2K8 was really bad.
 
I really liked '09, I'd like to convince myself that I'll be able to resist this year but in the end I'll probably give in like I always do.

Could not disagree more. Hated Madden 08 and 09.

Agreed with you. Played 09 for a week and just could not get into it. I'm definitely looking forward to this one though. Sounds like a nice upgrade.

That's a pretty dumb statement considering the LEAST you can expect from a game made 4 or 5 years after 2K to be slightly better.

With that being said, a lot of the reason why Madden "has gotten better" is because they have taken a lot of what made NFL2k so good.
 
I would say All Pro 2K8 was better than Madden 06-08 on the 360 and 09 being slightly better than 2K8. Lots of features from 2K5 still not in Madden makes me sad.

Only reason I'm getting Madden 10 (used from EBay or Gamestop w/ 360 weekly email coupon) is because of Jay Cutler on the Bears. If that hadn't happened, I would of just kept Madden 09.

The Gamestop demo will actually be different than the regular one released on Live. The Gamestop demo will be 5 minute quarters with the Cardinals vs. Steelers, while the publicly available demo will be 2 minute quarters of the Cowboys vs. Giants.
 
It's going to be absolutely incredible.
I think I'll start up league signups in 2-3 weeks (it comes out mid-august).
No live draft though. Those are no fun :)
I'd say allowing everything else (trades, free agency) would be awesome.
I REALLY HOPE that they have a great dropout system, so I can easily kick/add new users, because as we know, people are going to sign up and then they will disappear.

That first sentence doesn't make any sense. I said the recent Maddens were better than even the newest 2K football game which was released, what, 2 years ago?

And yes, developers generally do copy what works for others, regardless of genre.
 
Wow, I am surprised Matt didnt just burst into flames have saying one of the biggest lies this year. 2k5-2k8 (never played 2k5) is still light years ahead of Madden in terms of football expression. I am not getting into this any more though since me and Frisky already went around that.

Anyway, I am going to get this solely beacuse its the only football game to get. It still has the same glitches that madden 04 had so it can only be average at best. Tron joggin, rocket catching, suction tackling....all on display in the game play trailers.

The new features sound decent though although most should have been there from the start. I dont really understand pro tak yet. It seems a little over the top in my opinion and kinda pointless....but I am all for it if it makes it more realistic.
 
It's not a lie; just a different opinion. The 2K games were better than Madden up till 08. 08 and 09 have the 2K games topped in every category except for he online setup. But as for the fire, it is so hot here that I could conceivably spontaneously combust.

I already preordered, (should have said that) but from my understanding Gamestop usually gives you a card with a number on it that allows you to download it when it comes out.

I didnt get anything when I pre ordered this time.
 
Did they ask for an e-mail address? That's how they did the COD: World at War beta. A code was e-mailed within 48 hours.

If they didn't ask for one, I suggest going back there A.S.A.P.

It's my understanding that the commish can boot people whenever they see fit. Rule with an iron fist Azu!

The only issue with the game I see so far would be with the free agency system, or lack thereof. I think there is no real waiver system, salary cap or much else to determine who gets which free agent. It sounds like this will have to be done manually.

Awesome! As time goes by we should be getting more and more information, so hopefully things work out well. It's already 100000000000000000000000000x better than Madden 09....that wasn't even an online league lol...that was just terrible.

Also, soodmeg, I can save the Titans for you (assuming that's who you want), but yeah, you can tell me who you want and you will get them. I can only do it for the winner since there are hopefully going to be tons of new people this year.
Oh, and if you joined last year and fell off the face of the earth, and want BACK in this year, you can go fuck yourself.

I'm pretty excited about this game, and I would really like to be in a league where people play their games. Azu, I think we played each other last year in that terrible league that disbanded after six weeks or so.

Has anybody been able to pick up that full 5 minute quarter Steelers vs. Cardinals demo Gamestop has a pre-order bonus? They wont be available in my area till tomorrow but the GS guy said some places might have them already.
