I tried a few times all night. didn't bother trying after that. Such garbage. Broken day 1...

Defense is non existent and Momentum totally sucks. If you fumble once, your team fumbles like 4 more times and screws up badly on simple plays..

Dont give up.....dumb yourself down. Thats the key. You have to change your mindset and recognize the fact that you are indeed playing arcade game that is similar to blitz than actually football.

Once you stop expecting realistic things to happen you will enjoy it better.

I hate that it's like this sooo much. I was telling a friend last night that I hate that I HAVE to play cheap in order to win. If I try to play realistic football, I get blown out; if I keep using the same wildcat and screen plays over and over, I blow them out. It's really lame.

I'm trying to beat all the Madden Moments to get myself ready (and allow myself to be versatile playing many teams in different situations), but I'll be damned if I can't recover an onside kick for the life of me.

Also, after a bajillion kickoffs, I have only seen one get past the 25 yard line.

Alrighty, OP updated so those who have NOT checked in are highlighted with the arrows. It was getting too cluttered.

I don't think I should have to PM anyone to bring their attention to this thread this early into it. So hopefully it doesn't come to that. Ideally everyone will be checked in by or on Friday, with the league kicking off officially during the weekend.

I will send out a PM and friend requests on XBL in the coming days though. The PM will explain the FA rules and mostly unwritten code of conduct that has already been discussed somewhere in here.

edit: And while I do think general discussion & criticism of Madden 11 are welcome in this thread, let's not overrun it with complaints. It is bordering on becoming a buzzkill. I'm still very much looking forward to the league this year, despite the game's shortcomings.

Thats only half true.

I only play in this league...thats right I love you guys so much that I buy a game just to play with you. That and I am really good at the game for whatever reason.......And once the league starts then I will spend a equal amount of time writing cool things for the enjoyment of all. You have to take the good and the bad with Soodmeg, you want the write ups, MVP, game reviews, standings, etc etc...you have to listen to me bitch the first couple of days!

Well, that was fun. 4 different games dropped at the coin toss.
Servers too full to even take my code so I just used the free trial. Tried to play gbpackers too but he seemed mia every time I accepted his invite.
 
Hahahah okay I'm joining the complaints committee. This game needs to be patched asap. I just played the Super Bowl game mode. Figured if the servers are swamped (PS: EA, don't you know how many people buy this game at release date every year? How can your servers be this overwhelmed in the middle of the day on a Wednesday?) that I would try a quick offline game.

Coin toss went without incident. Kicked the ball off, things are looking good. Ut oh the Saints fumbled and Kyle Wilson jumps on the ball! I easily win the fight for the fumble and I'm pretty excited to potentially go up 7-0 so early. "YOU'VE FAILED A MADDEN MOMENT, RETRY OR RETURN TO MADDEN MOMENT" Wait...what?? That's seriously what came up on my screen after I recovered that fumble. Was my Madden moment let the Saints win to recreate the Super Bowl and my early fumble recovery was too much for them to handle!?

I know this will be fixed. I seem to have the same problem every year as an early adopter to the NBA 2k series. The product is somehow always released with glaring glitches and bugs that make the game for the most part unplayable out of the box. Which btw IS IDIOTIC. I don't think I've experienced this type of half-assery with Madden, but they seem to be swinging for the fences this year.

I sent out the first batch of invites to the league just to test it out. Please check to see if you received one. (If you're not on my friends list yet, you haven't). Let's hope that whatever issues there are with the servers and game itself doesn't slow down the start of the league by too much.

played last night with the Rams (since thats who I have in this league) against some person using the Packers. Got my ass SPANKED. final score was something like 70-45. Sam Bradford is a fucking beast, but the Rams refuse to play any defense.

Almost all my games have ended with similar scores. It's hard to believe that they playtested this thing, saw what the scores looked like and thought "yeah, this is football." Pretty much every game is the 2007 Patriots against the 2000 Rams. On steroids.

Just a heads-up with those Doritos codes. I got two of each code because I was going to throw one set up on the in-game auction block. You can enter the codes a second time and it appears to work (it even says that I've unlocked some Doritos cards when I enter Ultimate Team), however, you will not get a second set.

Also, you cant put any of the cards up on the auction block except for the Injury Recover cards. The Injury Recover cards are also the only ones which can be sold back to the game (50 coins if you're wondering).

Just figured I'd let people know.
 
Wow I am just allergic to winning. I wouldn't be surprised if I go 0-16 in the franchise.
Up by 7 to 14 the whole game then in the last 4 min this is what happens: up by 7 and near the redzone I fumble and the guy drives and ties a with a TD and goes for two successfully giving him a 1 point lead with 1:30 left, I drive and get to the 1 with 30 seconds left, all i need to do is run out the clock call a timeout and kick a game winning fg as time runs out, but I end up scoring and going for two successfully giving me a 7 point lead. I kick it off and the guy returns it to the twenty three. He has no timeouts and has to go 77 yards, all i need to do is tackle him in bounds once or twice and I win, 50- 43, but he throws deep to simeon rice and i go for the int for some reason but miss and he catches it and takes in into the endzone for the tie. In OT, I win the toss and he stops me for like the second time the entire game, and runs it in with AP for the victory, 50-56. It was actually an amazingly close exciting game that I made two wrong decisions that made me lose. BTW I was Jets and he was Vikings, and Shin Greene had 200+ yards.

I have a few questions about the game maybe some of you can answer:
1. for the hit stick on defense does it matter what direction you push it or do you have to point it at the ball carrier
2. What exactly is ultimate team mode? (or whatever its called)
3. On defense it says press (A) for defense assist. Anyone know what that means/does?
4. What does strafing do and what are the benefits?
5. Anyone have a way to stop screen passes to the RB?

Hm...just joined the franchise and the rosters that are being used there are NOT the same as the ones they pushed forward with the recent roster update. For example, Keith Bulluck is not an MLB and is not on the Giants, Terrell Thomas is rated 78 instead of 84, etc.
 
I checked and a lot of people are saying this very same thing. Havent seen a fix yet.

Wow, online franchise is fucked as far as roster goes.
lowest team overall in the new rosters is a 78 - Lions

you do the math. They pretty much bell curved the new rosters, gave an increase in players across the board to EVERY team almost. Very generous, the new rosters are very good for a buffer compared to the old ones were there are some really bad fucking teams.

Apparently, the new roster update we are playing with vastly improved every player and team across the board. Without it not only do we not have players on the right teams but their ratings are vastly different. This throws one hell of a wrench in the our plans and we are going to have to decide what we are going to do going forward? Its not a question of a the right roster its if we want the current ratings to be reflected in the league. It makes practicing offline or against other CAG impossible because guy your playing with might be a 80 updated but a 72 without. Not only that....its seems that EA missed a shit ton of players. Virtually everyone from rounds 5 and onward. Half the rookies are not even in the game.

Honestly, I dont think we can start a franchise with the current roster.

I joined the franchise as well, and noticed this on my team when I looked at the depth chart. Quincy Black (MLB) listed as DE, as well as Dakota Watson. Hmm...

Well, hopefully by the weekend that gets sorted out and hopefully worst case scenario everyone just has to rejoin the league.
 
A twitter response from EA says they are working on the online franchise roster "as we speak."

Its mind boggling the things we put up with for this company. We should hold off the league for a couple days until they sort this out.

LOL. So I put off redeeming my 20,000 coins code from Gamestop, and right after I did it, my game froze up. Now I have 0 coins, and a used code to show for it. Seriously, fuck you EA.

Sorry we couldn't make it work, the lag was unreal. 10 seconds, easily. That's pretty excusable for a major company like EA, they have to be able to anticipate the traffic their servers are going to see. It's pathetic.

Anyone here know if there's a way to undo an online franchise game? I'm running the PS3 league and some doucher joined as the Saints and played a game against the CPU before I could boot him (I had it public btw because I figured most would've joined already thus we could fill the rest of the league with friends and whatnot).
 
Holy Shit Madden is going to hell. EA really did censor the words crime, GOD, and little from Let it Rock. All the other song censorships also make no sense.
