Madden 11 League-OFFICIAL CAG LEAGUE-That's all folks! Mini-tourney still coming tho!
I had to switch my defense once I found Andre Johnson at TE and Eric Smith guarding him. Everyone can probably guess what resulted in that play haha. But once I switched Revis to be permanently on AJ*,
*Just so everyone knows, I didn't go to depth chart and put A.J. @ TE. There is a specific package in 5 WR that automatically puts him on the inside.*

I usually don't like running toss plays but every time I called anything on the inside it seemed that you had two free D-linemen to make a play on the ball-carrier, I had to run outside almost exclusively.

I'm sure everyone will be happy to hear that EA has (according to the details for title update 4)

"Fixed an issue causing a high percentage of disconnects in Online Franchise, Madden Ultimate Team, and other online head-to-head games"

I'll believe it when I see it EA. Until then, I'll be playing some Fallout New Vegas.

Yeah, unfortunately it's not supposed to be out until November.

I don't like to be holding things up, but I still haven't heard back from Eddie on here and he hasn't been on Live since before we advanced.

Damn you! Mine is waiting at my door at home, but unfortunately I had a ton of meetings at work today so I couldn't take my typical "sick day"

I really wish this came out like 1-2 weeks later. It should be arriving here any moment, but I really shouldn't be wasting hours on video games this month with all the work I have stacked up. I have a feeling New Vegas won't make it through the night in it's Amazon box though haha.

I will PM you the league info shortly so you can join and be ready to roll when the rookie draft comes up in a week or so.

Let's give him until the end of the afternoon and go from there. He's usually good with PMs. I don't want to hold up the league beyond tonight though, especially since we only had 4 games and 3 of them are done.

Yeah, I don't think I'll have any willpower either. My girlfriend is having friends over for dinner tonight and I was like "seriously? do I have to even come out of my office? :D"

Your assumption that he was the guy I was holding the Bengals for is correct. ;)

Hah, I guess it could've been someone else, but I saw the new CAG member and just went with it.

Other new members should have PMs with the league info. I still need to boot pitfallharry so venom can slide in as the Vikings. As of now the Browns, Titans, Jags, Bucs, and Seahawks are all open.

Yeah, sorry for not being around for the past few days...I was busy. Yesterday especially was hectic for me. Normally, I'm quick with PMs because of the email notifications, but for whatever reason, CAG hasn't sent a single one to me these past few days, despite having 3 PMs in my inbox.

Anyways, sent you a PM BigAT. I'm free for the rest of the day. Hell, I could play right now if you want.
Ub...Im pretty sure u meant to put TEN as opposed to TE as an available team in the OP, just a heads up
Haha yeah, I hit the letter max though so I tried to abbreviate even more so where I could. Hopefully it gets people into the thread and they can see for themselves what's open. Is TE even an abbreviation for anything?

Obviously! I meant NFL city wise that people would get confused with.

BTW, Giants-Bears are in OT right now. :)

Wow, evidently the new post-season overtime rule doesn't apply in this league. That said, great game bigAT. I nearly had you. Giants win 23-20.

They do apply. The new rule is you need a touchdown on the first possession in order to win. After each team has a possession, it's first one to score basically.

Great game, working on a larger recap post now.

I'll advance us in about 5 mins, I need to hop on shortly to get a game out of the way.

Good luck to everyone in the Conference Championships.

Well, evidently I need to read up on the new rules.

Maybe we should start settling on a firm day and time for the draft? Especially with all the picks that need to change hands, it's better for us if as many people are there as possible.

The Bears received the ball to start off the game and put together a nice, lengthy drive that concluded with a Jay Cutler QB sneak for a touchdown and a 7-0 lead. The Giants quickly answered back with a TD of their own. A defensive stop forced a punt that led to another Giants TD, giving NYG a 14-7 lead.

The Bears managed to put together another nice drive, but the Giants held in the end forcing a Bears field goal with just 0:25 left in the half. I got a little greedy after this and tried to move the ball downfield to setup for a quick FG attempt. Unfortunately Eli Manning got intercepted and the resulting return left 3 seconds on the clock and gave the Bears a 55 yard field goal attempt that Robbie Gould nailed, giving the Bears two field goals in the last 25 seconds of the half. 14-13 Giants at the half.

The Giants drove downfield after halftime but were limited to just a field goal by the Bears D. After another defensive stop the Giants had the ball deep in their own territory when a controversial call resulted in the Bears recovering a fumble following a Julius Peppers hit on Eli Manning. Even in retrospect I still don't understand how this wasn't an incomplete pass, Eli's hand is moving forward, the ball goes forward.

This gave the Bears fantastic field position down just 4 points. Thankfully a clutch Terrell Thomas (user) pick in the end zone killed what was a promising opportunity for Chicago. The Giants were able to burn some clock and add a field goal on the ensuing drive, giving them a 20-13 lead with just 1:11 left for Chicago.

Unfortunately Chicago was able to effectively and quickly move the ball down field. They were on the 7 yard line with just 0:03 left in the game. Jay Cutler dropped back, looked for an open receiver and when he was unable to find one, ran the ball into the end zone for the game tying touchdown as time expired.

The Giants won the coin toss in overtime and elected to receive. New York was moving the down field well when the Bears managed to record a crazy (user) interception that bounced off the defender's arms, then Mario Manningham's back, then was caught by the defense.

On the Bears first play of overtime, Osi Umenyiora came up with a clutch sack to give the Bears 2nd and 22. Two incompletions later and the Bears were forced to punt the ball. A solid punt return gave the Giants the ball already in Bears territory, but out of field goal range. On the next play though there was a HUGELY IMPORTANT face mask penalty on someone trying to tackle Brandon Jacobs, giving the Giants 15 yards and putting them within field goal range. B-Jac ran another ball 8 yards to set up a better kick, then Lawrence Tynes put the game-winning 39 yarder through the net for the victory.

Again, great game Eddie. Shit got crazy.

I was kicking myself after that final horrible drive. I should've just played it conservatively, and slowly moved the ball downfield and attempted to set up a FG. Although, since I misunderstood the new rule, I thought that a simple FG wouldn't be enough, and would've given you a chance to win the game. I was thinking TD was the only way to end it so I opted for a big first down play which bit me on the ass.

Also that facemask penalty...:bomb:. I had Jacobs stopped at scrimmage(or at best a 1 yd gain) and then get called with that penalty.

How do you get to the saved replays? The one game that I had saved any, I was unable to access them so I just gave up on it.
Maybe we should start settling on a firm day and time for the draft? Especially with all the picks that need to change hands, it's better for us if as many people are there as possible.
Well, let's see... I assume the two conference championship games can be played tonight or tomorrow, so we can wrap up the Super Bowl either Wednesday or Thursday. I assume Fri-Sun is not ideal for most. So we could either try to do it Thursday at maybe 10 or 11pm EST. Or squeeze it in Sunday between the end of the 4pm EST games and Sunday Night Football.

edit: I added a poll to the thread. Please vote.

edit2: I realize that Thursday some of us are doing an NBA fantasy draft, but that starts at 9:30pm EST and I imagine if we're not finished an hour and 30 minutes into it for some reason that by then it wouldn't be all that difficult to manage both.

Part of me wants the next season to start ASAP, but I would like to fill out most of the league so maybe Sunday would be best to allow new members to join and get settled. I guess we'll see how the voting goes and how the recruiting goes.

doom, wheres the awards? I know your busy, but the anticipation is killing me:d (trust me, i know busy....i run a halloween haunt every year and am up to my eyeballs in props that need completing, and the rest of the NOT so fun spooky stuff that goes with running a haunt:( )

I've got to imagine starting at 11PM EST might be a little late for East Coasters (although it's fine with me).

We could do closer to 10:30pm EST. I was trying to make sure the west coasters were available too. The draft moves fairly quickly too. I think the one I recently did only took about an hour.

Yeah mid term week has been killing me. I wanted to put pictures and everything for each award but I just don't have the time to put all that together. Sorry guys, anyway here are the awards.

CONGRATS to all the winners. Remember this is just for fun. Don't feel like I intentionally screwed anyone over. I really looked to see who was deserving for each award and I even threw in a few extra ones because I didn't want some players to go unnoticed. There are still some players that deserve recognition but I was unable to fit everyone in. Nonetheless, great season guys. Again, congrats.

No problem, that award could have gone either way between Henne or Marshall. Tell Henne to share it.

Looks like we're leaning towards Sunday early in the voting. Please let me know who voted for Thursday so we can try to make some arrangements for you.
No problem, that award could have gone either way between Henne or Marshall. Tell Henne to share it.
And this comment is why you are the perfect man for the job of "awards". Unselfish, straight to the truth, and somehow have the ability to make people feel great about their players:) I was little saddened marshall got no recognition....but freaking Braylon "I catch balls with my feet" Edwards deserves the award for taking just under 1/2 of his receptions into the endzone for touchdowns. Congrats Mr. Edwards.

I'm taking the trophy over to my table saw as we speak...she's being cut in half;) 1/2 for Henne, 1/2 for Marshall ;)

Once again, Thank you.

As far as the voting I want to go with whatever is Sunday I think we need to make sure people that owe picks are def around too. Dolphins owe me one and so do whatever team was on that list from real life trades we are honoring so what exact time is it Sunday because I always go to the bar to watch ravens game.

Ed Reed would like to thank his coaches, teammates, fans, and the award committee (of one lol) for the DPOY award. He would like to extend a special thank you(no homo) to Jon Beason for putting so much pressure on him to perform well every game, and to all the QB's who contributed to interception total. The anointed Ball Hawk is looking forward to next season and improving on his numbers with Ray Lewis expected to retire at the conclusion of this season. Thank you and congratulations to all the award winners.

There's no way I can do sunday between 4 and 8:30. Thursday @ 11 would be cutting it close for me but since my pick is a later one, I'd probably make it. I voted for thursday btw

Should we open up a 3rd option? I don't think everyone is going to make it regardless of the time. We could also try for late Sunday or Monday night, but I have a feeling the same people who can't make late Thursday may have an issue there too.

Personally, I'm around pretty much all the time, but on Saturday night/Sunday most of the day (will be back 10:00 or after most likely) I'll be in Boston without an Xbox. Not sure about Sat. Night just yet, may be home, but I'm going to assume not for now.
