Trade Revision

The Arizona Cardinals send

HB Adrian Peterson 98 Ovr, 31 yo, A Pot

Cardinals 2nd round draft pick. Replaced by 32 Year old DT Edwin Johnson 77 Overall B Potential

to the Giants for
RE Jason Pierre Paul 84 Ovr, A pot, 25 yo (went down)
C Beau McQueen 92 Ovr, A pot, 24 yo (went up)

----------

Some people (and I agree) thought the 2nd was too much. And even said that AP straight up would be fair, I didn't really think so given the age gap, but adding this DT (espescially because Blade wanted one) I think makes it very even for both of us.
once again. 32 years Old is NOT OLD. ffs. i'm approaching 30..and i'm about to slap some of you people upside your heads....
I'm 22 and feel old. Don't hurt me.

Did Doom or Sprice post anything about the Super Bowl?

What happened? Was it an amazingly awesome run vs. pass 42-38 score game?

Nope it was a 38-7 blowout. It was close early but Cassel just kept fucking up so Sprice did what he had to do and turned those into points.

I got out of my element early and it cost me.
Never put faith in Cassel. You will lose.
Or you go 11-5 and don't make the playoffs . (Stupid 08' Patriots Season)

I think Brett Favre was actually to blame that year, and the Ravens maybe? Neither of which I like so I'll stick with blaming them. Probably can blame a bazillion teams and players for that kind of thing. So yea, fuck Brett Favre!

Edit: fuck Bernard Pollard!
Hillis is now a 94 according to the EA site for anyone interested.
I heard from a little bird that your inbox was full Matt. In case you missed that.

On another note after trading today I am so freaking excited to get this draft going and start another season fresh.

Vick is coming for that NFC West Crown.

I emptied it a little while ago.

He must be good if he's trying to win two divisions ;)

Yep, he's coming for the Broncos. That Typo was directed squarely at you Kaster.

Draft is officially Sunday at 9pm.

I'm going through my trade offers now for those who sent them. But after that it's Mass Effect 3, so c'ya at the draft haha.
Man the opening video sequences in The Show are awesome. Red Sox/Braves fans may want to steer clear though ;)
Decision not to buy: Confirmed. :D

TRADE ALERT!

Jets trade:
Kyle Wilson, CB (77 OVR, 28 years old, B pot)
2nd Round Pick (52nd overall)

Bucs trade:
Jahvid Best, RB (87 OVR, 28 years old, B pot)
Myron Lewis, CB (74 OVR, 28 years old, B pot)

The main part of the deal was always Wilson for Best, then we tried to add the parts to even things out a bit. Wilson will be the Bucs #3 CB (as he was mine), while Lewis at that point was being bumped to #5. My hope is that Best+Greene can compliment each other better than Greene+Powell. I've been looking for someone with some more speed, and while I preferred a more all-around back (MJD, AP, etc) no one was budging there and I didn't want to have to gut my team to get them either. Lewis fell 3 points OVR this year, but his zone is still solid and he may see some time at safety if his OVR doesn't take a huge hit moving over.
jets need to add something i feel like its not quite even
I'd say more than a little something. Without Lewis in the deal it might be more reasonable, but as it stands the Jets are getting by far the better end of that deal.

His last offer was for it to be a 1st instead of a 2nd. I thought that was too much. You do have to realize despite Lewis's overall he is not a very good CB and is apparently in the decline. Best and Lewis wouldn't even see the field for Tampa unless a starter is injured.

not trying to hop on the bandwagon....but i tend to agree....this deal needs to have more from the jets side of things..... otherwise...... this trade is silly.
Best and Lewis wouldn't even see the field for Tampa unless a starter is injured.
I'm pretty sure we established long ago that that's not part of the equation when evaluating these deals.

All the players are the same age and potential, which simplifies things. Let's just look at the overall ratings (hardly perfect, but a good "quick glance" measuring stick):

HB and CB are both pretty important positions, and there Wilson is giving up 10 points to Best. So in order for the deal to be "even" in overall (which I'm not saying is an absolute requirement) Tanabeo would need to get someone around 84 in the draft. There's certainly not going to be a desirable player of that caliber available at #52. In a class this weak (I think the cat's out of the bag on the poor depth of this draft class, sorry savvy drafters!) there might not even be a guy of that caliber there at #20, although it's possible. It's definite that there's no way the Bucs could recoup their investment at 52 though.

Sorry, but I see this trade as miles off.

Ok. So Tampa doesn't play best. That doesn't mean the dude isn't a badass.... and he would START on 31 other teams in the league. (if they had him/noel devine/etc.

Because a player chooses "NOT" to start him does NOT make his value go down.....surely?

We're working on some adjustments now, but despite Best's OVR he is far from a complete RB. He has speed, he can catch a bit, but other than that he's pretty one dimensional. (Devine does almost everything better so I can see why he starts him)

Wilson on the other hand is more complete at CB. He won't need to micromanage at the nickel spot with him there and is serviceable at the #2 spot if an injury occurs. I really think the difference between Best and Wilson is a 3rd rounder. You add Lewis and his 49 awareness, 65 play rec and 74 man coverage (he's good in zone, as I said), and I think that turns into a 2nd. Especially when you consider this draft may be a wash after the 2nd round ends. That's my logic. Don't need to buy it. We'll work something out.
Especially when you consider this draft may be a wash after the 2nd round ends.
It may be a wash well before that, which was my point. :D

I look forward to seeing the new version of the trade.
It may be a wash well before that, which was my point. :D
The weakness of this draft has been greatly exaggerated. By my calculation, at pick #61 you can still get a 74 OVR (or higher) that is A or B potential. So I don't think the #52 is some throwaway pick.

TRADE ALERT:

Titans send QB Matt schuab 83A 34yrold and 2nd round pick (19th)

To Denver in exchange for WR Brandon Lloyd 84A 34yrold and QB Kyle Orton 77B 30yrold

I don't think it has. But we can agree to disagree on that I guess.

Uber.... a B Potential is one thing..... but here's the rub.

AND AT #26" it's a 99% probability that all A Potential players are GONE.

People come to this draft for A potential players. B's suck! :D

There are only 25 A Potential players in this draft. Sorry for all of those who were trying to hide this fact from the less knowledgeable in the league...

lol and the matt schuab curse has been moved. hope he only plans to make schuab a back-up not a starter.
also it so sad to see he didnt go to the colts as the curse should stay inside the division. from texans to jags to titans now broncos.

also trade looks fair to me

This seems reasonable. All these players went down in OVR from last season. Schaub has declined some, but from a passing perspective he's still more dangerous than Tebow.

So...color me strange but I don't think the deal is that bad. I took a long look at Best before passing. He has a high OVR but other than being quick he's pretty weak.

We usually get stuck on big names, this time I think we're stuck on OVRs, something that can be way overblown, see Noel Devine for an example.

REVISED TRADE ALERT!

2nd Round Pick (52nd overall)

Bucs trade:

You guys don't know how many renditions this just went though. I hope two mid 70s B potential (at minimum) = Best. Fingers crossed. I have another deal almost done too. Get your "DENIED" stamps ready!! (JK )
I hope two mid 70s B potential (at minimum)
It's not necessary to massage the facts. ;) There's no way an A potential player will be there at #52. There are less than half that many in the draft total. Yes, he can definitely get a player in the mid-70s there, but that will be the maximum he can get, not the minimum. I'm assuming he's okay with that if he's accepting the trade.

That said, taking Lewis out is what I said was needed to even the trade in my initial post, so I'm fine with this version.
