New England Patriots 19 - Seattle Seahawks 0

The #1 seed Patriots traveled to Seattle and ran out their scrubs in a classic "nobody get injured" game, only the scrubs put up a great effort and came away with one of the more impressive victories of the season.

Rookie QB Evan Smith (who is apparently left-handed, who knew?) was 12 of 19 for 228 yards, 1 TD and 0 TDs. He showed excellent touch and made some very good throws, I was quite impressed.

Josh Freeman was 8 of 20 for 97 yards, 0 TDs and 1 INT.

Rookie Quayshawn Willis carried 15 times for 65 yards and a TD, though almost all of that came on one 55 yard run. He was pretty unimpressive otherwise (though a lot of that might have been the shitty O-line and no Gronk) and also coughed up a fumble.

Former Patriot Stevan Ridley was the leading rusher for the Seahawks, carrying 11 times for 52 yards. Rice had 2 for 33.

TE Julius Thomas (the only regular starter to play since I only carry 3 TE) had 2 catches for 113 yards and a TD. Rookie Nick Schexnayder caught 4 balls for 56 yards.

Deon Butler was the leading receiver for the Seahawks with 3 catches for 33 yards.

The Patriots got 2 sacks, a pick by safety Josh Barrett (playing CB), as well as a safety by Shaun Ellis.

The Seahawks also had 2 sacks, and forced and recovered a fumble.

---
Patriots finish their season 14-2 and head into the bye confident and healthy.

gg staticz! I honestly don't know what got into me, that was probably my best performance in months. I expected I could be competitive with this crew, but didn't foresee anything like this. I guess maybe I played much looser since I wasn't really concerned with winning or losing. That probably allowed me to relax more in the passing game than I typically do.

I'm borrowing a copy of Madden (from my old AP US History teacher, of all people) so I can play my last, meaningless game against Doom.
I think my rookie safety might have yours beat...I haven't looked at his stats tho (Bryant Skinner) I think he has 7 int an 2 TDs as well...
ya u beat me ints but i think i beat u in tackles sacks FF
The second one was clearly a situation where you just hit "A" one too many times...which is why I punted it back to you
Thanks for that btw. Much appreciated. Couldve put me in a big hole.

Anyone need a QB? Rookie Evan Smith in a game and a half filling in for Brady: 14/23 for 282 yards, 2 TDs and 0 INT, 132.9 rating. Oh, and he's A potential. :D

So the only thing left to decide in the AFC is who gets the 2nd bye, right? Ravens get it with a win, if they lose to the Chargers the Chiefs can get it with a win over the Broncos.

Will be interesting to see if the Chargers rest starters for that one, since they're locked in to the 5.
DROY jags SS Tiras Isreal 47 tackles 1 sack 4 INTs 3 FF 2 Fumble recoverys 2 TD on defense. monster year for a rookie

End of Season Report: New England Patriots (Season Three)

Season One Report
Season Two Report

Record: 14-2 (10-6 last year), AFC East champs for the 3rd season in a row, #1 seed.

Playoff History:
Season One: Beat Pittsburgh at home in divisional round, lost to Kansas City on the road in the AFC Championship Game.
Season Two: Lost to Pittsburgh (sub) at home in the wild card round.

(All rankings are pending the last week of games)

Offense:
25.1ppg (10th) - [Last year: 29.9ppg (7th)]
266.3ypg (20th) - [Last year: 318.1ypg (7th)]
140 passing ypg (27th) - [Last year: 156.7 passing ypg (22nd)]
126.3 rushing ypg (8th) - [Last year: 161.4 rushing ypg (4th)]

Passing:
Tom Brady - 128/181, 70.7% (#1 in the league), 2058 yards, 16TD, 7 INT, 121.7 Rating (#1 in the league)

[Last year: 146/208, 70.2% (#1 in the league), 2202 yards, 20TD, 15 INT, 106.7 Rating]

Brady continued his trend of throwing less, but throwing better. His attempts and yards have decreased each season, but his completion percentage (while always excellent) has improved each year, as has his QB rating. The big difference this season was the huge decline in INT, which is probably the driving force behind the improved record. For the third straight year he lead the league in completion percentage, though he once again failed to qualify for the league leaders.

Rushing:
Cobie Ross - 260 carries, 1760 yards (6.8ypc), 24 TDs (14 games)

[Last Year: 257 carries, 2092 yards (8.1ypc), 23 TDs (14 games)]

By any reasonable measure, Cobie Ross had another fantastic year as he was once again the workhorse back for the Patriots. The season only seems a bit disappointing when viewed in context of his phenomenal rookie season. Some regression might have been expected however, as teams keyed on him more. He probably would have once again reached 2000 yards if he hadn't been resting the last 2.5 games. Not much to complain about.

Receiving:
Rob Gronkowski - 36 catches, 628 yards (17.4ypc), 4 TDs
Roddy White - 25 catches, 493 yards (19.7ypc), 6 TDs
Demaryius Thomas - 18 catches, 330 yards (18.2ypc), 3 TDs
Julius Thomas - 18 catches, 294 yards (16.3ypc), 4 TDs
Wes Welker - 12 catches, 263 yards (21.9ypc), 0 TDs

Once again Brady was incredibly democratic with his ball distribution. That, combined with the limited number of balls the team put in the air, meant that no Patriots receiver really had a chance to shine. Roddy White in particular took a bit of a step back from his great debut season with the Pats, but was still good when called upon.

Defense:
13.4 ppg (4th) - [Last year: 16.9 ppg (4th)]
228.5ypg (8th) - [Last year: 254.1ypg (5th)]
139.2 passing ypg (4th) - [Last year: 174.5 passing ypg (8th)]
89.3 rushing ypg (14th) - [Last year: 79.6 rushing ypg (6th)]

Much of the Patriots' 4 game improvement this season was keyed by their defense, which lopped a full 3.5 points per game (though not back to the insane 10.5 ppg they allowed in season one). They were good against the rush and the pass, and generally improved in every defensive area.

The Pats remain a team who don't force an incredibly large amount of turnovers by individual players. Devin McCourty lead the team with 5 INTs, and several other players had 3. No one had an especially big sack year, with Vince Wilfork leading the team with 7.

Really the secret to the Pats' success this year was limiting their own turnovers while forcing their opponents into sustaining long drives and making mistakes. They gave up very few big plays, which is always a plus. These factors allowed them to win a ton of close games (half of their wins came by a TD or less).

Overall I'm obviously very happy with this season, which is definitely my best one yet. It's nice to get a first round bye again after only getting the 4 seed last season, and getting the #1 seed isn't something I ever thought I'd do. Signature wins over the Chiefs and Ravens are also a huge confidence booster. Time to see if I can finally get over the AFCCG hump (where I've lost 3 times in the past two Maddens) and make, and hopefully win, my first Super Bowl.

Dolphins lose to Colts 35-21.

Great game until the very end.

Final Touchdown came on a 28 yard interception return for a Touchdown with 10 seconds left in the 4th... Dolphins with zero timeouts. Run out of bounds and take a freaking knee. No need to run the score up there.

But it is what it is. Dolphins Moving onto next season.

Looks like MIA and SEA will be fighting over the 11th and 12th picks. Time to start scouting and coming up with a plan for next year.

Speaking of which, I'll have the tentative draft order up on the spreadsheet along with the traded picks sometime this week.

That is excellent news Kaster. Let me know when you'd like to play.

Was going to suggest picking up an ON DEMAND copy of Madden that Microsoft so kindly released for us today for the low, low price of $59.99 (6 months after release!)

What a bargain! Exclamation points!!!

The one attractive thing is that I'd never ever lose that copy, but shelling out a full 60 for Madden (again) at this point is going to hurt. Worst case scenario I'll get a discount and buy it from Walmart. (WALMART!!!!)

Yea I read about that deal....I don't see it happening. If the salaries wwere even maybe, but in order to make it work financially the celts need to add a few million in players. Who knows maybe it will happen I hope not tho

I haven't been following the NBA too closely this season, but I'm against moving Rondo period. Then again, I don't watch frequently enough to know if he's really become an issue.

Remaining Games:

Titans-Vikings
Ravens-Chargers+
Cowboys-Giants+ (Need a Giants sub)
Saints-Lions*
Bills-Texans
Redskins-Browns*
Bears-Rams+
Raiders-Falcons
Broncos-Chiefs+
Bengals-Steelers
Packers-Eagles
Bucs-Panthers+

* = Matters for playoff spots
+ = Matters for seeding only

I know the deadline is Friday, but I'd really like if we could finish by tomorrow night which would leave us the rest of tomorrow and the weekend for the playoffs.

We'll need a Giants sub only because the Cowboys do have a shot at the 2 seed. The Giants have been eliminated. I'm sure Doom will have a playoff post soon laying out all the scenarios.

Please let us know as soon as possible if you have difficulty contacting your opponent.

rondo is rondo, he is what he is ya know. hes not an elite superstar. hes an inbetweener. so i feel its gonna be difficult to find equal value in return since no1 is gonna give up an elite superstar for him. i dont think hes going anywhere. i just think hes the guy who willl always be on the trade block no matter what. if he had a jump shot he could prolly get a no trade clause in his contract.
who are the wild cards in the afc
1. Patriots
2. Ravens
3. Chiefs
4. Texans
5. Chargers
6. Steelers

The Chiefs can move up to the 2 if the Ravens lose to the Chargers this week and they handle the Broncos, everyone else is locked in to their spot.

I see....can anyone here get a hold of superstar? I'm pretty sure he works days, I tried pm'ing him yesterday no luck. Not a big deal the game means absolutely nothing but id like to play it. Going 9-2 after starting 0-5 would be good for my confidence lol but in the end it don't matter.

Go Browns! Not sure how it would all shake out but if he wins I might be able to jump two spots in the draft :D

I should have tanked like the Cavs did for Lebron
I'm sure BSETI or LV can contact him for you.
Cardinals finish the season with another disapointing 8-8 record.

Great game Deuce. You murdered my defense.

All and all it was a fun season, 8-8 definately wasn't bad considering that I started 0-4. I'm not keeping Brees (an official trade is pretty much all wrapped up), I don't know what it is about him, but he is definately not the quarterback for me.

Don't even know what I'll be looking for in the draft, but hopefully I can get a good start next season and finally win the NFC West for once.

Any thoughts on me permanantly subbing for DVO while he is gone? Along with playing with my Cardinals.

*- wildcard
x-clinched playoff spot
y-clinched division
z-clinched homefield

AFC

1. z-New England Patriots (14-2)
2. y-Baltimore Ravens (12-3)
3. y-Kansas City Chiefs (12-3)
4. y-Houston Texans (10-5)
5. x-*San Diego Chargers (11-4)
6. x-*Pittsburgh Steelers (9-6)

NFC

1.z- Chicago Bears (14-2)
2. y-St. Louis Rams (11-4)
3. y-Dallas Cowboys (11-4)
4. y-Tampa Bay Buccaneers (10-5)
5. x-*Detroit Lions (11-4)
6. *Washington Redskins (9-6)

In the Hunt

7. New York Giants (8-7)
8. New Orleans Saints (8-7)

A Redskins win clinches the wild card spot.

Realistically, the Giants are mathematically eliminated due to their division record. But with Madden being Madden I wouldn't count them out if they win and the Redskins lose.

If the Saints win and the Redskins and Giants lose, they're in.

A Rams win clinches a bye. A Rams loss and Cowboys win clinches a bye for the Cowboys.

A Tampa Bay win and Dallas loss would move the Bucs up to the #3 seed. Tampa is unable to claim the #2 seed however because of their loss to the Rams.

I actually had a thought, since DVO asked me if I could too. Since you're usually available in the evening, and I'm more available during the day (or way late at night) we could both be subs, depending on the availibility of the opponent. Not sure how if it would work, but it was just a thought.

not going to gain many fans here (don't care either ;) ), but I said it last year about Cru and I'll say it about this squad too. If he makes the playoffs it's bullshit. It is also bullshit that the Steelers are in the playoffs again.

I actually like the rule that the JV league put in place, 3 misses = no playoffs.

Not trying to start anything, I know BV has addressed this before, but damn play your games or get out. I'm sure you will both show up for the playoffs...

With Cru last season, his internet was to blame(looks like it's gotten worse this season) With Ballhawk, he just hasn't shown up on the thread or on xbox.

They should stay a CPU team so they don't make the playoffs.

I am 100% Cool with this.

I don't think BV or UBER have chimed in on all this. Any thoughts guys?

sounds good to me guys i think that a great plan that way its easy for the games to get scheduled good team work guys

Worked well enough to win the Super Bowl....that is the problem, when it matters they will show up. It isnt fair to anyone.

I know BV made a statement already, so I'm not going to drag this out. Just play the games or get out. I've missed one in three seasons, most have missed less than that.

Yeah, that's fine.

I agree with you 100%. I'm hoping that Cru, Ballhawk, and Zurezo will either re-commit themselves to actively participating or gracefully step aside. If not, I'm not opposed to taking action on it, but it's a conversation uber and I need to have.

I also agree that the Saints shouldn't be in the playoffs. Though I don't think they've actually had a single sim or sub win so far, pretty much all losses. Same goes for the Steelers, though he's played more of his games down the stretch.

but sometimes things happen i do not agree with 3 misses = no playoffs
but sometimes things happen i do not agree with 3 misses = no playoffs
Ya that got brought up in JV I think cause people were missing almost entire seasons and making the playoffs.

I agree, things happen, but it doesn't take longer than 30 seconds to post or pm someone to let us know what's up.

Action should be taken if this carries over to season 4.

"Too busy" isn't the same as "things happen".

Kaster was moving and missed a couple games, that falls under "things happen".

If someone is too busy to keep up with the thread and play their games, they shouldn't be in the league. It's a big time commitment which everyone enters into willingly - if you don't have time to play, don't. When you commit to the league and then don't follow through on the commitment, it's a burden on everyone else in the league.

DROY Adonis Burchette 43 tck o sck 8 int 3 FF (I think he is in the running)

btw we have to still play our week 17 game

Just as a heads up, it would be awesome if we could wrap this week up tonight or early tomorrow evening. That would give us a realistic shot at wrapping up the playoffs over the weekend, and we could then shoot for a mid-week draft next week.
