Here we go! The report you all have been waiting on, right??
Season 1 Report
Season 2 Report
http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/showpost.php?p=9069822&postcount=4634 Record: 9-7 (Season 2, 8-8), 4-2 division record, 7-5 conference
Well, I picked up an extra W this season in the division. Instead of getting swept by Miami, I split the series. Progress! Looking back to Season 1 though, I can't believe I went 12-4 and lost the division on a tiebreaker. Now I'm two seasons running 1 spot out of the playoffs. Your 7th best AFC team two years running, folks!
Offense:
21.7 ppg (17th) - [Last year: 25.8 ppg (10th)]
265.4 ypg (21st) - [Last year: 332.9 ypg (5th)]
109.2 passing ypg (32nd) - [Last year: 246.6 passing ypg (3rd)]
156.1 rushing ypg (4th) - [Last year: 86.3 rushing ypg (21st)]
Well, this explains a lot. Middle of the pack ppg will get you a middle of the pack record. I find it fairly amusing I went from the 3rd most passing ypg to the 4th most rushing. Maybe next year we'll figure out how to do a little of both.
Passing:
Mark Sanchez -140 for 253 (55%), 2,041 yards, 19 TDs, 20 INTs, 73.9 rating (17th in the league)
[Last year: 234 for 450 (52%), 3,890 yards, 34 TDs, 32 INTs, 77 QB rating (10th in league)
I threw for a slightly higher completion percentage, but I'm still sitting right near that 1:1 TD to INT ratio. Not much to say here.
Rushing:
Shonn Greene: 307 carries, 2,273 yards (7.4 ypc), 23 TDs
[Last Year: 138 carries, 921 yards (6.7 ypc), 9 TDs]
Bilal Powell: 56 attempts, 299 yards (5.3 ypc), 2 TDs
[Last Year: 41 carries, 321 yard (7.8 ypc), 2 TDs]
The surprising stat here is Greene's higher yards per carry. You think doubling his carries would at least lead to a drop in YPC, but nope. And his TDs and yardage more than doubled alongside those extra carries. Just a great season for him. Looking at his numbers, Powell disappointed a bit. He likely would have matched or just surpassed last year's numbers without his Week 14 injury but this was no two-head monster.
Receiving:
Dustin Keller - 53 catches, 759 yards (14.3 ypc), 5 TDs
Golden Tate - 36 catches, 650 yards (18.1 ypc), 6 TDs
Santonio Holmes - 19 catches, 285 yards (15 ypc), 1 TD
Cameron Patterson (R) - 9 catches, 146 yards (16.2 ypc), 3 TD
Jason Avant - 10 catches, 97 yards (9.7 ypc), 3 TDs
Holmes is
not going to be happy this offseason! 19 catches? Yikes. This is coming off a near 1k receiving yard season. Tate seemed to take over the Kilgo/slot WR role seamlessly. Same ypc and TDs from last year. The tighends (Keller, Patterson) were nice safety nets along with Avant. Reliable, but the lowest passing offense in the league doesn't look very good here.
Defense:
13.5 ppg (3rd) - [Last year: 28.6 ppg (23rd)]
197.1 ypg (2nd) - [Last year: 322 ypg (24th)]
124.5 passing ypg (1st) - [Last year: 189.4 passing ypg (13th)]
72.6 rushing ypg (6th) - [Last year: 132.6 rushing ypg (26th)]

I ended last season's report with a list of the changes the team went through going into the offseason. The final words were: "maybe they can turn it around" and they did.
I'm not going to pat myself too hard on the back here, because in Season 1 this team was in the Top 10 in all categories. This was more of a return to form than a new look, but I'm happy with the results nonetheless.
Standouts include: Dontay Moch with a team-leading 45 tackles and 5 FF. New full-time nose tackle Kendrick Ellis led the team with 9 sacks. Revis had 8 INTs, while new SS Chinedum Ndukwe had 6 despite missing a few games at the end there. Not many changes here going into Season 4. It's on the offense now to keep up with the D.
