RE: Brady's 2011, 2012 numbers... I know you're trying to paint a picture that Brady will never regress but just because he didn't at age 36 and 37 doesn't mean he can't drop off--at least a little--at age 38.
ANYWAYS, let's give this trade an examination BV has been waiting for! So NE downgrades 12 pts at QB here. Maybe in a year of progression that turns into 8 (Brady down 1, Colt up to 90... reasonable IMO). So for 12 this year, 8~ next year and to get the best QB in the game (I assume) is worth what? Patrick is a good start. 81 OVR CB, good for most teams #2 and A pot. I would say that right there is close to even. Maybe a 2nd rounder in a weak draft tips the scales a bit more even.
I guess this isn't bad. I think such a high draft pick a bit overkill. Ninkovich doesn't do much for me. I have a couple of mid 70, 30+ OLB on my team and they enjoy playing special teams but that's about it. I personally don't think Ninkovich turns Brady's Uber Book Value (TM) from Colt+Patrick+2nd rounder into a 1st BUT I also don't think this is bad at all. I'm splitting hairs here a bit. You asked for it BV! You got it! So in short: This is good. It is Brady, so he deserves a fairly large haul.
