Madden 12 Official CAG League - On official hiatus until Madden 13.
My interest has been at zero for a while.
Yeah. I've got no doubt that if I wasn't running it, I would have left after last season. I made a commitment to keep running the league through this season though, so I've got no problem honoring that.
Hell I'd play straight up. Can't believe it is this hard to get a sub, you can tell it is season 5.
Good deal, I've got some work do to late tonight, 10:30 should be perfect.

This is Random but does anybody know anyone who can get me tickets to E3 this year ? I know you have to be involved in the gaming industry somehow to get tickets.

This is getting ridiculous lol, just left Office Depot where I dropped another $130 on the full PC Diagnostic/Repair service which may or may not fix my issue (the guy couldn't figure out what was wrong after an hour or two of testing). He ran an adware scan and found like 200 or something small viruses (no Trojans), so he doesn't think any of them could be problematic enough to cause a major CPU crash, but there's a chance...wishful thinking. That brings "Operation: Get Diablo 3 up and Running" to $430 so far...plus all the headache that comes with making 3 trips to Office Depot in a span of 24 hours...and I'll have to make a 4th later tonight when my computer is ready to be picked up. Well I suppose I have already managed to get Diablo 3 up and running (I played it for 4-5 hours straight last night on my desktop lol) but I would like to be able to have it up and running AND be able to browse the internet too...the latter being the issue now.

FWIW, it alt-tabs pretty smoothly.

Yeah I know it does (in case that was partly directed to me), my issue is just that I can't browse the internet PERIOD...nothing to do with D3. Any internet-browsing is what triggers the crash...D3 requires a constant internet connection though so it's not ACCESSING the internet that crashes the computer, it's merely opening up a Firefox or Internet Explorer page. I could just leave it on in the background and walk away and then my comp will crash. I haven't tested it extensively but so far that's all that seems to crash it. Like I said, I played like 5 hours of D3 with no crashing...and once I just turned my computer on and left it on the desktop page for 30 minutes and nothing. Then when I open the internet it crashes within 5 minutes usually :(

And alright that's my last post on the topic lol, sorry for being a debbie downer in here.....I'll just let y'all know (BV, ferocious, and Doom) when everything is up and running.

Could it be a heat issue?? Try taking the side of your case off and see if it still does it. I know it sounds stupid but your basically at the stage where something dumb will fix it.

The guy had the side off the case the entire time it was at Office Depot and it still did it several times. There's no way it could be a heat issue lol if I run Diablo 3 for 5 hours straight and nothing happens, but I restart my computer and open up Firefox for a few minutes and then it crashes. Diablo 3 is a million times more demanding than Firefox. And I put my hand on the side of the case every 30 minutes or so while I was playing D3, and it felt pretty cool throughout the whole night. The guy at Office Depot said the graphics card wasn't very hot either.

Okay I'll still obviously respond to anyone in here if they have any suggestions lol, I meant that last post was my last on the topic on my own behalf.
There's no way it could be a heat issue lol if I run Diablo 3 for 5 hours straight and nothing happens, but I restart my computer and open up Firefox for a few minutes and then it crashes.
not true at all. Prior to hardware acceleration Flash was known to overheat PCs pretty consistently. All of the ads you see....flash.

The guy at office depot isn't going to fix your pc...he cut your case up with a pocket knife for gods sake. Have you pulled out the video card to see if it keeps happening? Have you switched out power supplies to see if it keeps happening?

Personally I haven't done a whole lot myself to try and determine the issue other than seeing what programs seem to cause the crash. I have a feeling if I try and mess around and unplug things here and there that I'll make it worse. Personally, the guy seemed to know what he was doing so I kind of let him do his thing for a while (yesterday there was a different guy working on it so I've had 2 different people try to figure this thing out so far). He was working without charge so there was no harm in letting him try and figure it out. After he discovered all the adware, he mentioned it to me and said if I WANT, I can have them clean it all out but it's not cheap at all...he mentioned the $130 but also said that there aren't any major viruses but it would just make my internet run slower. So at the end of the visit when it looked like he was running out of options...I was pretty frustrated at that point so I decided to spend the $130 to get this issue resolved as quick as possible. Worst case scenario, I'm at least rid of 200+ viruses and my computer will run smoother assuming I can get my issue fixed down the line. He also said the $130 diagnostic/repair service is done by a separate company that works in conjunction with Office Depot, so I'd feel better knowing that I'll be having a fresh perspective on my problem and maybe these new guys can figure it out on their own. But he said they don't actually come in and take a look at it in person...they do everything by remote access, so I dunno what to think about that. He said he'll be there to take a look at the screen and call them when it crashes so they know when it happens.

If it's anything like when I went in 2005, they have badges with your name on them. That year, I actually posted on CAG asking if anyone could get me in and one guy did.

Man, Aaron Rodgers tore his groin in my simmed game vs. the Bears. I was lucky enough, through rain, a magic catch, and some turnovers on both sides, to pull out the 17-14 win, Packers over Jets. Good game, Nate.

Tough loss to swallow. Jets shut out the Packers in the 2nd half and outgained them 221-174. I had a couple of opportunities to tie it up, but I kept playing for the lead for some stupid reason. I guess I thought maybe I'd catch a lucky break sooner or later. When this happens on the first drive of the game, it just kinda sets the tone I guess. Definitely not the reason I lost though. I just couldn't get my head right. Still super gay though, lol.
Getting rid of viruses shouldn't cost over a $100 though. Defender and Malwarebytes work well.
Shouldn't really cost over $0.

MA, I'd suggest hitting up these forums: http://forums.techguy.org/

The guys there are great, and they'll help you out more than some moron at Office Depot ever could, without even needing to look at your computer. Every time I've had an issue I can't figure out on my own, I go there.
Any word on getting the rest of these games played? I'm not sure what time to shoot for in terms of advancement.
Haha Widow, I guess Manning can't win all your sim games.

I assume it got simmed, we tried to play last night, but had complications (Widow's Vagina)

Well when I pick up D3 tonight it is going to be lazy staticz

Alright sorry guys I really need some advice here lol...the guy called me from Office Depot and said he THINKS he knows what the problem is. This is all from a voicemail so I may not have ALL the details...but for sure his idea is that my power supply is too weak. On the official Radeon website, it lists the required power supply at 500 Watts or greater and I bought a good one (Corsair) right at 500 Watts. It doesn't make sense since they LIST on their own website that a 500 W Power Supply is adequate (although I'm guessing not ideal). But do you guys think that could be it? Keep in mind that I played 5 hours straight of D3 with no issue...opening an internet browser always crashes it within 5-10 minutes though. The guy recommended I buy a freaking 750 Watt Power Supply...I really need advice on this cause I've already spent upwards of $400 in the past week alone on my computer and if I have to upgrade my PS to a 750, I'm looking at roughly another $100 assuming I can return my 500 W one to Amazon. I'm just not comfortably doing this cause this darn Office Depot guy "thinks" he figured out the issue...although he said he came to that consensus after talking to a few other experts...or "experts", I dunno. I don't think Office Depot sells Power Supplies that high so I don't think he's just looking to make additional sales at my expense.

And I did see your link earlier BV and I'm gonna ask the same thing on there once I get home...I had to post this on my phone.
If I've heard right it hasn't been open to the public for like 3 years now or something like that.
It has never been open to the public, but I do think they have tightened security since I went 7 years ago.

Ok that guy is an idiot. You don't need a 750 watt supply for a 6850 low-tier card(or was it 6870?). 500 watts as it says on their website should work fine.

Don't listen to this guy.

Shouldn't need that much, I was running 2x 6870 and much more on 750w, and I didn't need that much.

Here is a power supply calculator:

This.

Well I just talked to the guy on the phone for 10 minutes and he says he was going on all kinds of forums and talked to a bunch of people about my problem (that's something I could have done myself lol I didn't need to spend $130 for that) and he seems to be backing off what he said about the power supply now. We've come to an agreement that it has to be a video card issue (although he said he never actually removed the video card to see if things would run smoothly without it...I thought that might be the FIRST thing he would try), so I'm gonna do a pretty significant downgrade and go with a Radeon 6650 or something which is $80 at Best Buy ($20 off this week). I talked to a guy there earlier about it and he said Diablo 3 will run fine on it on medium settings. Diablo 3's recommended settings for the video card is a Radeon 4870 or something so I should be just fine I'm assuming. I don't need a TOP TOP graphics card...like I said earlier, the Windows Experience Index showed my graphics as a 7.8 out of a possible 7.9...that is way freaking excessive. That's why I said earlier I don't need a top-of-the-line graphics card just to play Diablo 3 but somehow I ended up with this beast here...

Any faulty reasoning from what I just said? Or do you guys think another graphics card will solve my issues based on what I've said on here?

How the fuck does somebody get a job at Office Depot as a computer tech without ANY basic troubleshooting skills? staticz and I recommended several things that could help pinpoint the problem without even looking at your system. That's all troubleshooting is...process of elimination. As you said, you could have gone to forums yourself and asked for advice. $130 for that is a freaking scam (I'd even consider complaining about it to management).

As for switching to another card, it's probably not a bad idea. I'd just be careful going with another ATI. If it is some kind of "hand shaking" issue with your motherboard (like I had), you could end up with the same problem. I guess at this point, the biggest thing you want to make sure of is that you can return it if it doesn't work. For anything you bought from Amazon, you should be well covered. Hell, you could even blame it on them and say it "doesn't match the website's description" since it fits your motherboard...but not your case. I'm sure by now, the biggest headache is the time you've wasted on this. But at least if you can do some damage control on the money you've put into it, it'll make you feel better.

Are you talking about graphics or gaming graphics? There are two separate ratings in the WEI. Not that it matters, the WEI is usually off.

I'd stick with the card you have. It will be worth it.

If you would've bought an Nvidia card you would have been fine ;)

You really should be able to work on this thing yourself, it isn't hard at all. Here is a link to get you started - http://lifehacker.com/5828747/how-to-build-a-computer-from-scratch-the-complete-guide

Read lessons 1 and 3. If youre still confused then maybe you should take it to another shop, however I have a feeling you'll be alright. PM me if you have any issues, this should be an easy fix we just need to find out what (power supply, gpu, or something office depot did) is causing the issue and replace it.

I already went ahead and bought the other cheaper card and the guy is installing it now. I think it's an XFX Radeon 6570, 1 GB, DDR3..the card is less than half the size of the Sapphire 6870 lol. I honestly don't care about the darn graphics as long as it runs decently. I played on my laptop with the crappy original integrated graphics card and I wasn't that overwhelmed with the difference in graphics...just that my FPS hovered around 12-16. Like n8 said...at this point I'm just so sick and tired of this whole thing. Assuming this takes care of my problem...then I still have to pack up my Sapphire card and ship it back to Amazon then I'll be finished with this nightmare! I really appreciate you guys helping me out on this...we all suffered together and will be relieved to put this behind us I'm sure lol.

Doom I'm pretty sure they were both at 7.8.

Shit for as much as you spent now you should have just picked up another computer.

I have found WEI not that accurate in rating graphics anyway.

Shit...had to send laptop in to get acreen rwplaced, bunch of pixels out, thought the advance was tody...shit i figured manning would have handled the raiders in a sim but i guess not....and the show goes on...

I am still looking for a job almost 6 months later, I think it's cause I'm looking for something other than programming.

Thanks, I am not a fan of programming, and would rather do something I enjoy. Seems like it would be easier to find a job programming though. I probably should have put more effort into it before I graduated.

I hated programming in college. Now that I'm out doing networking stuff, I see how much it could help me. Needless to say I'm working through codecademy to pick it back up.

So, do what you want but don't forget how to program, its utility is infinite.
