Madden 25 Official CAG League - 3 Seasons Completed. Shutdown for 2013-2014.

The NFL Draft is very very rarely full of Blue Chip players who come in and dominate. For the players we just drafted all we have is the hype about how great they will be, but the only way for that to be confirmed is for them to go out and play great. I think this class, while a lot of the overalls are low, probably reflects a more realistic curve for player drafting. If you want your young guys to be great, they will have to play well. There are a ton of guys who have the building blocks to become great players but they'll have to have the appropriate amount of XP dumped into them. No rookie steps on the field better than the men that he now has to compete against. He may have the tools to become that player but, it takes the coaching staff of the franchise to get him there.

I'm one of the guys who traded pieces for draft picks and I don't regret it at all, especially after I wasn't able to improve my team in free agency. My 9 picks gave me some great opportunities to fill some holes. I don't have a player that would come in and start right away, but thats usually the case on a team that is as good as mine is across the board and a couple of the guys I did draft have the tools to be dominant, quickly with a little bit of development. The base states for my rookies seem really solid and I'll have to develop everything else. To me thats just like real life, you have a kid with a tremendous amount of athleticism, who dominated in college because of it, now he's in the NFL and has to master his technique...gotta coach him up.

I'll take this over any draft class that we've had before....and we get to play with the real college names

The only issue I have with the drafting process is that the game doesn't allow you to do more extensive scouting. I really hope we do another imported class for next season and every season.
I 100% agree...this draft was way better then any I was apart of last year...yea there was a lot more stars in the other drafts but everyone knew who they were and it made drafting retarded. I ended up with a starting DT out of this draft and prob 2-3 more next year when players either retire or leave my team. I do agree they need to let us scout better

Buccaneers Draft Breakdown 2014

The Bucs made a deal with the Raiders that gave them two firsts and two second round picks, giving up Gabe Carimi and Jeff Demps in the process. With the 4 picks in the top 56 the Buccaneers could afford to take fliers on a few guys and hope they pan out. The 2014-2015 Bucs return all 22 of their starters from last season and weren't looking for any immediate starters in the draft, here's how it turned out:

1st - Chris Smith - RE, Arkansas (6'3, 270) - 77spd, 78str, 79agi, 91acc, 80hpw. Smith will probably not play at all in his first season. He's got a decent first step off the line of scrimmage, will have to develop some more functional strength to be useful at the point of attack, probably a situational pass rusher early, definitely a liability in the run game.

1st - Justin Gilbert - CB, Oklahoma State (6'0, 200) - 92spd, 95agi, 95acc, 72mcv, 68prs. Gilbert has the athleticism of a shutdown corner. He'll have to hone his craft and become an NFL corner, but his combination of size and athleticism is rare.

2nd - Ryan Shazier - OLB, Ohio State (6,2, 240) - 81spd, 86acc, 80agi, 83hpow. Decent athlete for the position, great in the run game, liability in coverage. Could be moved to middle backer at seasons end.

2nd - Josh Huff - WR, Oregon (5'11, 205) - 91spd, 97acc, 67cth, 71cit. Quicker than fast, with unreliable hands. Probably a return specialist until he masters the subtleties of NFL route running (46rte).

-No Pick in Round 3-

4th - Jason Verrett - CB, TCU (5'10, 180) - 90spd, 93agi, 91acc, 91jmp, 79pur, 62mcv. Pleasantly surprised he was still there in the 4th round, probably fell because of his size. Smaller, off-corner, think Asante Samuel, not afraid to stick his nose in there in the run game, above average athlete for the position, has to become a technician in coverage.

5th - Fou Fonoti - RT, Michigan State (6'4, 296) - 92str, 87acc, 57pbk, 66rbk. Developmental offensive lineman. Lean frame, athletic tackle, suprisingly better in the run game than he is at pass blocking, could be a better guard than he is at tackle.

6th - Isaiah Crowell - HB (kicked out of Georgia in real life) (5'11, 220) - 91spd, 92acc, 88agi, 88car. The pick I'm most excited about because he's a rehab project. In high school he was the number one RB in the country played as a true freshman at Georgia, had some off the field troubles and has been out of football for the past year. His size and athleticism are great tools, once he gets his elusiveness, juke move and trucking enhanced, he's going to be a really good NFL running back.

7th - Mason Walters - RG, Texas (6'6, 320) - 83str, 84acc, 66pbk, 58rbk. Developmental offensive lineman, may be kicked to the outside probably better suited to play tackle instead of guard.

7th - Rob Crisp - LT, N.C. State (6'7, 298) - 90str, 82acc, 67pbk, 69rbk. Developmental offensive lineman. Another lean, athletic guy with some good tools to build on.

What I don't think most people understand is that overall is a poor reflection of a player in his entirety. In these drafts, you are looking athletic players with low position stats. Things like Man coverage or throw accuracy are easy to upgrade. However, stuff like speed, elusiveness, and throw power are very difficult to upgrade. In a season, with practices, you could easily turn your 51 OVR corner into a 70-80 OVR corner just by raising his Man, Zone, and press. I actually thought this draft was cool because it allows us to develop the players, as opposed to just reading a spreadsheet and taking the superstar ones we're told to take.

I agree with Ramses and everyone else who enjoyed the draft. Obviously it's greater for some of the teams with bad records to get immediate help, this is more realistic and it's nice to see only a few star and quick dev guys.

When do we advance past preseason week 1?

Draft was good in my opinion.

Browns vs. Eagles should kick off around 7 or 8. Hopefully we don't advance, I think me and SETI will be putting 10 bucks down on this one.

We'll be Advancing tonight sometime before i go to bed...Ala Midnight...planning on giving us 24 hours per preseason week. Free agency will follow along the same path. Groups 1 and 2 can pick at 6pm and 11pm tonight. I'm posting this shortly, just having a hard time compiling the list of 16-32's....can't remember the playoff/wildcard schedule, and daddyleagues doesn't have it.

We've decided to do 4 Rounds of Free Agency this go-around, as there are still a large number of good players available. We'll Go #1-32 for the first two rounds and then #32-1 (reversed) for the second two rounds. See the schedule below.

Reminder: We go by what is posted in the thread. You must post who you're adding, and who you're dropping, in the thread before it is counted. There is no order of selection within each group, it's first-come first-served.

Free Agency starts AFTER I Post to kick it off. Any posts posted before my kickstart post will be ignored.

If you're not around a computer at posting time, and can't use your phone to post your free agents, feel free to pm me and i'll post it for you.

Team Name:
Player Added: Name (Position)
Player Dropped: Name (Position)

A few things to note:

1. If your roster isn't full, you don't need to drop a guy. But please post who you pick up.

2. Keep your cap space in mind. These guys do take contracts, so you might not be able to sign the expensive guys without dropping someone.

3. As always, we go by posts in the thread, not who adds them first in game. Once you post in the thread that you added a guy, he's yours.

Opening kickoff of preseason was fumbled and then the Cowboys picked up the ball and broke 3 tackles for a touchdown....good thing it's preseason. lol

Anyone else's rookies have giant shoulder pads, no matter what their position is? Definitely fixing that after this game, lol.

My rookie Wide Receiver is pretty nice. I didn't take the best receiver, but he is 6'6 and looks like a giant lol. I already threw up balls high and he was able to go snatch them in practice mode. He will be fun.

Colts win 31-22

Junior Hemingway was beast in this game 109 yards 2 TD

Best ran for 199 yards 1 TD he might acctually get the starting job if his carry doesnt become a problem

Peyton will be holding a press conference tomorrow to speak on his soon to be new role as Cam Newton's tutor on not throwing INTs

Any word on my trade?
You submitted this 7 hours ago.

Unless it's for a Draft/Trade Deadline... please do NOT expect trades to be voted on within 24 hours at the least. The Trade committee has a lot of varied schedules. Sorry. I'm not even going to look at this trade until tomorrow while i'm at work because i'm attempting to spend time with family.
