Major Xbox Announcement on Tues. June 5th
I'm hoping that it's ad supported X-Box Live, but I doubt it.
In all honesty they already have XBL setup to use adds. They currently 'advertise' new demos/games/movies/music/etc. so replacing those spots with actual ads for like McD's or Pepsi or something wouldn't be all that hard.

I'm guessing they're finally going to take Cheapy's suggestion for Microsoft success in Japan and make their motto, "Xbox 360 - You put your dick in it".

I wish they would just push out the Halo 3 beta indefinitely, or make it available for free to the masses. That or lifetime warranties on systems.. now THAT would be an industry-changing announcement. It'll probably just be another contest sponsered by Namco or something.

I could definately see a MGS4 announcement hitting "gaming history" levels; after all, it's the #1 game that will boost the sales of the PS3. IMO, the GTA IV announcement was on that same level so I could definately see that as having that potential.

Edit: After reading the original context of the message, I'm going to recant my speculation. Instead it's going to be something dumb like a free copy of PacMan on XBL.

Wakka*wakka*wakka*wakka*wakka*...

My guess is Tekken on the 360. I realize that doesn't "CHANGE THE HISTORY OF VIDEOGAMES!!!" but no one said that the announcement was properly thought through in context.

The major announcement is that Peter Moore fires Pac Man?

$hady no XBLA announcement yet....

I'm betting on a motion sensing controller that won't be anything special. Maybe a price cut which I hope is not the case because I just got my 360 last week and I'll be quite pissed!

Video Game F'ing History!

Today Microsoft Corp. and NAMCO BANDAI Games made video game history by unveiling the “Pac-Man Championship Edition” — featuring the first new Pac-Man mazes in more than 26 years — available only on the Xbox 360™.

The “Pac-Man Championship Edition” is the same beloved “Pac-Man” game played in arcades of the ’80s but is updated with new features that former “Pac-Man” fanatics and new generations of fans alike will love. It includes new mazes that dynamically change shape during gameplay, six new timed game modes, new soundtracks and high-definition (HD) graphics. Details include the following:
• Classic 2-D “Pac-Man” presentation with a new, modern look in HD
• Six new, timed game modes:
 The Championship Mode. This is the main game mode designed by NAMCO BANDAI Games and Iwatani specifically for the championship round of the Xbox 360 Pac-Man World Championship. This mode – as well as all others within the “Pac-Man Championship Edition” – features redesigned mazes with wide maze walls and a widescreen configuration to better enable high-speed game play. Timed limit of five minutes.
 Challenge Mode 1 (Patience and Reward Course). This mode is an evolution of the Championship Mode. Patience mazes strategically offer fewer Power Pellets and Reward mazes provide a large number of Power Pellets – providing unique challenges and rewards for the player. Timed limit of 10 minutes.
 Challenge Mode 2 (The Darkness Course). In this mode, only the area directly around Pac-Man and the Ghosts is visible and the maze walls are completely hidden. Timed limit of 10 minutes.
 Extra Mode 1 (The Freeway Course). An extremely high-speed mode for advanced players, this mode features warp-speed Pac-Man and Ghosts and plenty of tunnels. Timed limit of five minutes.
 Extra Mode 2 (The Manhattan Course). A mode inspired by the streets of Manhattan — the home for the first-ever Xbox 360 Pac-Man World Championship. Timed limit of five minutes.
 Extra Mode 3 (The Overall Course). A mix of all other modes resulting in extreme mazes for the most devout Pac-Man fans. Timed limit of 10 minutes.

"Maximum hyperbolic bullshit levels detected, Captain. Exceeding even previous Reggie readings. Bracing for massive letdown...."

I absolutely love the 360 and despite everyone elses opinion, I'm a fan of Microsoft in general ... but I'm pretty confident in saying this announcement is sure to be lame and is almost guaranteed to not change a single thing about the history of video games or have any impact whatsoever. Hopefully they prove me wrong though.

EDIT: Apparently I was right

Pac-Man, fucking Pac-Man?

Man, these PR Goons, sure promise the sun, moon, and stars, and deliver a 20 year-old ham sandwich.

Yes, file a new pac-man down in the history books. Jeez.

 so now we have 3 pac-mans on XBLA. Nice!!

It's funny, because I'm a pac-man fan, so I'll probably get it. It's even funnier NOW because I have Pac-Man and Ms Pac-Man.. then with this makes 1600 AKA $20 points spent on Pac-Man!! oh, ripoffs. How lovely =)

Maybe I'm the crazy one here, but does anyone care about Pac-Man anymore? This is like releasing Tetris with different shaped blocks .. who gives a shit?

Oh, it's all from NeoGAF.
As soon as the link is posted, I'll copy it.

Pretty sure this is right though.

It's a big Pac-Man event, the news was going to be about Pac-Man.

This is the biggest moment in gaming since one of those shit-ass blogs promised monumental news, then broke the story that Wii chips were being manufactured.

I would have thought Microsoft was going to announce MGS4 for the 360. I mean, that would totally make sense. I'm sure Namco, who helped sponsor this whole waste of time, wouldn't mind getting step on in favor of Konami. And then a giant Square Enix robot would jump out and announce FF XIII exclusively for 360. Then Ghost Rider would ride in and announce that Blu-ray is dead. Then Megaman would announce Marvel vs Capcom 3 available only on the Zune. Then everyone on stage would brawl in order to win our applause.

The best thing is that even with this 'history-making' announcement, they still don't have a Namco coin-op title on Live with any sort of multiplayer. I guess that's the 'big announcement' for the 30th anniversary edition on the next 'next-gen' console.
Who's dick has to be punched for this announcement?
Your own. And anyone else that bought into the hype machine created from an off the record IM convo between a marketing guy and a low level blogger. Yeah, that is sure a credible source.

I'll punch it, squeeze it, slap it, and rub it. All for you.

the difference is i might actually buy a tetris game on xbla, while i wouldnt waste 200 points on this, let alone 800

I never cared about Pac-Man to begin with.

This goes down in history, the day they figured we can add stuff to pac man and charge $10 for it even though the classic game is already on x-box live. Yeah nice job there Namco.

Haha, I knew it. What sense would it make for them to announce something really big right before "E3", and come on it's at a fucking Pac-Man convention for christ sake.
