Well, OTT. I just recently got an email from my counselor today about job that seems to suit me. It's located in the same city I lived in when I went to college, and it's actually just down the street from my last apartment.

I'll admit I'm too familiar with what two documents you can provide as proof of legal employment to be honest, but I should be fine.

Anyway, I ask the OTT (because I've been unsuccessful with a bunch of other) because I'm given contact information to the H.R. Director, address, phone number, and email. Now, I'm trying to figure out what the best way to sell myself good for the position. Should I call the number or email the H.R. Director asking questions about the position (TBH I never did this, partially because I'm not always sure what to ask)? Or should I jump to just sending an email (or hard copy) of my resume? It doesn't say on the email I got from my counselor (or their job posting on the company site) on what to do. If I send an email, so I just send my resume saying very little, or should I try treating it like a cover letter?

I figure one reason I've struggled getting some jobs (the reason I got rejected) was for doing something wrong, so I just hope I make the right approach to this job.

I'm just not really into calling people personally (I probably do a better job handling a situation via email than phone). But I just asked since I wasn't sure if some have tried both and got any better results one way or the other. I would say email as well. If your industry is anything like the industry I work in, we got like 120 applications for 1 position, the HR people couldn't keep track of anyone that called (so basically it didn't matter if you called or not because their phone was ringing off the hook) it was just based upon your resume/experience if you got an interview.

I expect several in my major to want the position. Although this company might prefer to get someone local so they don't have to pay for re-location (although I could easily move myself there without the help, since it's 2 hours a away).

While I'm thinking too far ahead, if I got the job, a few things would be great:
-I could see about moving back into my old apartment complex, since it's down the street from the company (nice apartments too).
-There's next to no traffic in the area, so driving to and from work would be easy (for someone who doesn't drive much and doesn't have a lot of experience, this is good).
-I could get my haircut at the same place I always have (just drive home every few weeks for it), not have to change my banking at all (since as long as I stay in my state, I can stick to the same bank, and do my banking at similar banks), and it would be an easy transition regardless.
-Nearby restaurants I like, supermarket, etc. if I want to go.
-I could still stay involved with my college, showing up to fighter events, DDR Club nights, and doing stuff with friends (who still have a while to go).

Although the bad part about me living and working in the adjacent city by my college would be that I'd never fully get the chance to live a distance away from my parents (forcing me to be more responsible and being 100% on my own) and I wouldn't have to work so hard to find friends (because they are already there, and I just expand based on their friends).

But we'll see. The business is now closed, but I'll be sure I send out an email first thing tomorrow morning with my resume. :) I guess I'll just continue doing this.

I like reading his shit cause of how absurd it is, but then I remember he's not in his mid twenties like T_? or Big Mike and it seems normal. :(
