Mario Kart DS

Wow, just played a little bit of Super Circuit. Now I remember why I was so giddy that DS wasn't going to be a mode 7 MK. I suck at them... a lot.

I could've had this yesterday, but someone *coughcough* forgot to bring it with them when they decided to go home.. oh well. I should have it tomorrow night.

I think we have a problem. MK is only two or so days away and I have not found a deal!

Every place has it for $35 or more? Have you guys found a good place yet? I'm trying to save as much as I can -- I still need to buy that expensive USB Wi-Fi thing later on.

And why is Tony Hawk DS $40 everywhere? :(
 
Haha, they finally caught me over at GameFaqs. I would have gotten away with it if I didn't post here telling 40k+ members about it :roll:

If you got this month's Nintendo Power, there's a coupon for $5 off MKDS (though I think it's Best Buy or TRU). If you don't have it then it might not be a saver for price.

I am so tempted to buy a ds just for mariokart. Im a huge mariokart junkie and its why i bought a gamecube when mk:dd came out. I just have a couple questions:
how much are used ds? is this game single card multiplayer? and is there an adapter needed or just having a router work to get this bad boy online?

Up to 8 people single card (somewhat handicapped, but still playable). Used DSs run like $99 I think (personally, I think the extra $30 is worth an unused battery and touch screen), and most 802.11b/g wireless routers should let you online. check www.nintendowifi.com to see if yours is listed, but even if its not, give it a shot. It'll probably work.

Yeah, teached those GameFAQers for stealing info on all of our deals. I can't beleive some people don't just CALL before using there gas and time to go in a store and look in a glass case.

Anyone work for GS or EB know how many copies they're getting vs. number of preorders? Just wondering if that'll be an option for the 5 copies my friends and I need to get. ;)
 
I'd imagine all retailers will get more than enough copies to cover pre-orders and beyond. We ain't talkin' X360, here.

I live in St. Paul, MN and have called a bunch of GameSpots, EB Games, a GameCrazy, and a couple Best Buys and Targets in the Mpls/St.P area. Everyone is saying the same thing: The game is shipped today and they'll have it tomorrow.

I don't know if it's true, but I'm not in a position to know what's what.

Right now the best thing to do is to wait until 4 PM or so and make another round of calls. My guess is if they're actually getting it today, they'll know by then. But again, I don't plan on getting it any sooner than tomorrow afternoon here in the midwest.

I'd love to hear from other people on this.
 
Well I went to Wal-Mart for the hell of it and they had a little Mario Kart DS "display" on the game case that said 11/17/05. What the hell?

EDIT: Called EB to check on my pre-order and they are saying the 15th which is what I expected.
 
I just went to Wal-Mart in Vadnais Heights, MN and picked up 3 copies :) They had at least another 6 left. It looks like they just put it out as they were unloading boxes when I got there, and the price wasn't even up yet. It was $34.88 each.
 
i jsut went to best buy to pick up a GGC for it to use with the $10 i have in reward zone. Mario Kart probobly wont be there until wednesday though.
 
Man I still don't know if I'm going to get this game right now. I'll just wait to see what you guys say about the wifi.

Ha, the Wi-Fi is almost irrelevant at this point, since every review I've seen is calling it one of the best, if not the best, Mario Kart game, and the Wi-Fi is usually the only disappointing part of it. I would be out to pick it up, but I'm waiting on my bundle at the end of the month.

The best part of Mario Kart is the multiplayer. If the wifi sucks and one of my bros doesn't get a DS in the future then I dont' know if I want it.

The WiFi, while limited, is still uber fun (from what I've read). Full report in a few hours ;)

Picked mine up at Target, I think they just put it out. The guys were unloading a bunch of DVD stuff, and the price wasn't even on yet. Can't wait to fire it up!

after thinking about it...could i just go and buy Mario Kart today at Walmart. Then when Best Buy gets it in buy it with my GGC and reward zone certs for a total of $20 and return that one to wal mart?
