Yeah I still can't join you lilboo, and daroga hasn't shown up on my list yet.

I can see both you and botticus are racing, but like bluelobstah I can't join.

We MUST do this some time. When we have an even amount of people, then we should try balloon battle. I'm actually really curious to see how vs team racing will work. Maybe we should all try this tomorrow? :)
 
I would love to schedule tournaments or something along those lines.
Make some rules.
Like 12 people, vs race, all karts, EVERYONE USE THEIR WHEELS. LOL That could be pretty fun, IMO

I would love to get at least 8 people on tomorrow and try 4 on 4 team racing.
So many things to do! I wish more people were playing this game :lol:

All 3 of us who used the wheel always came in last, lol. I was the last of the last, but that's just cuz I suck.

Is there no way to request to join in an ongoing race? I saw lilboo hosting, but couldn't join. Also, the first tournament is up now in the Mario Kart Channel. You face against 11 cpu opponents in one track (with some interesting differences) and upload your time.

I can't play with that wheel, it aggravates the crap outta me. I need to have the precision of a controller.

I love the wheel in the 50cc grand prix (I haven't done 100cc yet), but yeah it doesn't seem good enough for the faster stuff. My biggest problem seems to be drifting in the wrong direction, that really fucks you up.

Today was my first time playing with the Wii wheel. I was playing online on 150cc, and normally I drift the crap out of Wario's Gold Mine.

Cut to me falling. Four times in the same area.

Does anyone know how many matches it takes to get the gold Wii Wheel? I want to do precisely that many matches before I quit using it.

Yea the wheel works surprisingly well, but i have the same problem, drifting. everytime i come up on a corner i always drift in the wrong direction, I like to start my drift before a corner comes up. plus i haven't figured out how to look behind you using the wheel

I think looking behind you is A. I never use it (that might add to my sucking), so I'm not entirely sure.

EDIT: I just played a few matches online with remote/chuck and I did seem to do a lot better (still not 1st, but usually 3rd or 4th). I could stay in 1st or 2nd a lot of the time until right near the end...then I'd get fucking murdered. I hate that feeling when you're in 1st place, right near the finish line, and you can hear that red shell coming...and there's not a damn thing you can do about it....
 
Good rounds last night, guys. :) We need to figure out an AIM chatroom or a skype setup or something.

I was laughing really hard at my cheesy 1st place finish on Shy Guy Beach. Last item box, golden mushroom, 5th to 1st. ;)

Glad to see Kart's online is rock solid. I'm not sure I'll be able to play tonight, but I'll at least check in to see when you guys are going to play. That time of day works alright for me.
 
I"m in the same boat I find I"m much much better with a nunchuck and wiimote setup especially on the bikes I can't do anything with the bikes using the wheel. I love the idea behind the wheel but for faster carts and most importantly the bikes it just doesn't work that hot :( (bummer to because I really really like the wheel).
 
I need to practice more with the bikes. So far, with the wheel anyway, I suck at them. Anyway, what's up with stunts? You just have to shake the damn thing right? I can't seem to consistently do stunts.

I can't seem to consistently do stunts.[/quote]As you're lifting off a jump, yank up on the remote/wheel. You gotta do it as you're getting air, not while you're in the air. That was something I didn't get for a little bit. Works in carts and bikes.

That sounds like a real strategy. What it looks like when I do it is as I'm driving up a ramp I start flailing around like a complete... ahem... spaz, and it seems to work alright. ;)
 
I'm still loving this game. I only have two more people to unlock. Baby Daisy cracks me up with her dance. I need that for an avatar.
 
I played a little more with my wife last night and she beat me every cup we played! Her Baby Peach in the Tiny Titan (or whatever the monster truck is called) is a beast.

We really miss co-op Grand Prix though. That is about the only way we played Double Dash. Having to unlock content for each license sucks.

Hopefully we can race with some CAGs tonight!

Agreed. Next time we setup a room like that we'll need to exchange skype names.

So I've met the requirements to unlock several characters, but they aren't showing up... what's going on here? I've unlocked a bunch of fast staff ghosts and done time trials on most of the tracks...

I tried the tournament but when I tried to send my results, the connetion to WFC was down so I just got booted back to the title screen again. My tournament times are still on my system locally, but I think I have to do the race all over again just to send them.

To save you from going through 900+ posts, they should be unlocked the next time you reload your save file or start the game.

I'm not positive, but I think the gold wheel is based off of the percentage of time you use the wheel for. I'd also assume that you'd have to use the wheel online to get it to appear next to your name, since the white wheel only appears if you're using it.

It does come down to luck to a certain extent, but that can work in your favor too.

Case in point: I was heading towards losing the first cup, with Peach and Wario each having six point leads over me because I got blue-shelled at the end of the first two tracks in the circuit. The Mushroom Gorge race starts, and right before the first series of mushroom jumps, someone pulls out a POW block. I'm far enough back where it doesn't hurt me, but Peach and Wario go hurtling into the abyss and finish in the back of the pack, giving me the breathing room I needed to go on and win the cup. :)

Just keep at it, and you'll win eventually. I dominated the first two levels, but the best score I've gotten in 150CC is a 47. Still, that doesn't take away the fact that you cleared it with the gold cup.
 
I almost gave up on the game last night after only 20 minutes of local multiplayer with my roommates. It just seemed like the same-old, same-old- something I could sell and still have '64 to fall back on. I went to work and came back 5 hours later to find the three of them ravenously addicted. So I gave it another shot, and I gotta say that this is quickly becoming my second favorite Mario Kart now, behind '64. The motorcycles add a completely fresh take on the racing, and they're all we ever use. With all the variety, it may keep us occupied for quite some time.

As far as characters, I've always used Bowser in Kart, but
Rosalina
controls leagues better than he does without sacrificing much in acceleration or weight- plus that
Luna
following you around is money.
 
G/f and I are still having a blast with this game. Just unlocked the
1st Mii outfit
last night and was wondering if you can customize it at all.

On a slightly related note, after ignoring Brawl pretty much since launch, I went to my buddies place and we played HRC for three hours and he showed me how to customize the controller (to an extent). It's too bad that wasn't an option in MK Wii.

Just tried to copy to wii, and you will need to backup your save to your PC or something because you can only have one save per wii. Won't work if you added anybody either. Sorry for thinking it would be better.

Does that mean, then, that if I want to play local with a friend that he would have to have his own licence on my Wii, or can we play on the same licence?

To further that, what about if you *do* have the game, but want to play it on someone else's Wii... can you transfer the data in the remote like the way the Miis work?

I'm just curious, since I'm sensing that since the unlocks are tied to the licence, that every person has to do it themselves.

I may be wrong, though... hoping I am.

no, you dont have to have a separate license with every person. on local you can play with a friend on a single license. if you go online up to 2 players can play and your friend can use his own mii online. they will just show up as a guest, therefore they cannot accum. vr points. you can't however, transfer your data or mii onto someone else's wii to get unlockables. you can try to transfer saves via SD card like the method above to obtain those.
