Its true though, thats what makes the cutoff too high. Once you get in the top 10, its weeeeeelll I can play 1-2 more nodes and get in the top 5, then oooooookkkaaaayyy 1 more & I can be top 2. Get bumped down to 11-15, you figure ok I can get back into the top 10. Hit 20 & its screw it.

Seriously the tiers are stupid. Its divided between the top 10, then the next tier is 11-50 before you get the standard tokens. Tournament tiers are so better divided.

 
Call me crazy but the character Im focusing on next is Falcon.  After my rewards Ive got a cap of 102 and he's currently at 85.  20K Iso needed for the difference.  Hopefully in a week he'll be there.

Havent started the Falcon tournament yet but last time I mentioned my rainbow team (Hulk, Classic Mags, Black Panther) those teams started popping up more.  I wonder how many Punisher, IM40, Falcon teams will be out and about now. That or Hulk, IM40, Falcon teams, thats just as good, but I like having a black power.....OOOh sub Torch for Hulk or Punisher.....must go experiment!

It really is amazing how rare I use OBW now....

 
Odd question, but since it's tangentially-related, is there a thread like this on CAG for Marvel Heroes?

I keep missing free hero giveaways and I don't wanna lurk the official forums constantly.

DS, I totally see the merit in Falcon and if I had more covers I would likely be exploring his usefulness on a team as well.

I never use OBW now. I feel like the level boost screwed her more because now comparatively with a team with Hulk and Thor she has like no health and dies super fast in comparison.

I am going to focus on Steve now like I said but since he is so close to power max I will leave him be for now and hope for good luck. I am going to save up my HP now again with the intent on leveling up Hood after I get Steve to a strong usable point

But yeah it is funny how I never even use OBW at all anymore. It is like she is a child that has disappointed me and I have disowned her haha

Seeing as Marvel Heroes is a PC game, not sure if the Android deals are the place to be. I checked around and couldnt find one at all. I would suggest bringing it up in the Steam Deal Discussion thread seeing as they are all avid pc gamers of all sorts.

I like that being our origin story. That makes me Professor X! : D

Yeah its funny when you're forced (maybe too harsh or a word) to change your tactics & try new people. Just tired of OBW & her fake healing. I mean I know espionage & AR are still good skills, but that healing. Anyways a useable purple and wow Falcon didnt suck.

But I know how you get when you "see the merit" in a character: Ares, Punisher, God I know there was someone else (Modern Hawkeye or Dr Doom?). It took me forever to convince you on Black Panther! Now you're finally seeing Steve Rogers in the light too. Im almost afraid to ask how you feel about Psylocke.

Have you got Steve to 100 yet? Im too lazy to look at your roster. Around that & he's more than useable. As long as you have his blue creating a protect tile at the end of the countdown your good. I keep screwing up on my cascade set ups. I'll place the blue, expecting a cascade when the countdown expires, only to get a protect tile. Then my red countdown goes off in the wrong place & I get nada.

Oh and with OBW out of the way, can I get a Hulk nerf? I mean Anger, thats pretty much it. His green is an ok attack but I mean other greens are better and more powerful. Save hulk for last & hit him all at once with the AP youve saved. Done, not really that hard like people think.

As for Marvel heroes, I totally was thinking of that mobile game War of Heroes. Then I remembered if you want to see the poster child for mobile game cash grabs, look at mobage.

And I never was against Capt! You must be mixing me up. I avidly used him as a 2* and preferred him over Thor most of the time. I pushed like CRAZY with the events that gave us Steve rewards and so that was why mine had such a strong base. But yeah mine is only at like 78 or something right now. He still has a while to go but he is like I said at 3/4/4 so he just needs some ISO loving!

After getting destroyed by Psylocke in Hard mode on both of the nodes I definitely see how useful she can be. I just still dont even have one of her skills at all!

I think there are far more pressing balancing issues at the moment than nerfing Hulk. Making Daredevil usable at all for example haha

I want to focus on Falcon, but he doesn't support my top two characters as well as he does others. His purple conflicts with my favorite glass cannon, and neither of the other two characters create anything for yellow to buff (see previous sentence).

That being said, I think GSBW is going to the sidelines for the Falcon tourney, and I'll bring out Doom instead. I have visions of Inspired Demons dancing like sugar plums. Don't really have an interest in Ragnarok covers, but maybe I can go crazy and get progression rewards.

Quiet, you! Hulk doesn't need a useful power beyond Anger and an obscene health pool. That being said, I only use his green when Natasha gets squished, and his red is a nice closer if your board is clean.



I'm having trouble focusing on the simulator this time around. I'm not interested in 2* Torch, and all of my tokens have been 2*s as well. I fought my way to the top of a lightning round and got 2*s from those tokens, too. I'm not in a complete drought, but the pendulum has definitely swung. Maybe the game figured out I maxed my third 3* today, and decided I needed no further soup.

Really wish 2* Torch was done like the Ares one. Hopefully he goes into the token rotation quickly, so at least Heroics will have a brief period of improved cover usefulness.

Wow, yeah. Too bad my Daken sucks at 1/1/2. You'd have to break some match habits to run a team that doesn't use an active green or red.

Patch might be even better, but I don't have many of his covers, either. Redwing would clear out those pesky side effect strike tiles. Pretty close to a rainbow, with only yellow as a passive.

Punisher is the only 3* I have sufficiently leveled for strike tiles, but I'm not sure the AI plays black correctly when you have both Punisher and Doom on your team.

Punisher/falcon run pretty tight together too.

Well a Doom/Daken/Falcon is cray on the simplicity. No active red powers means you never need/want to match red tiles. As for Greens, they power dakens strike tiles, so your matching those to deny the enemy team green & get strike tiles. Issue is the no direct attack except for Dakens blue, so everything you do is passive damage. Still you gotta admit if playing against a full 141 (whatever it is now) Doom/Daken/Falcon team would be a really annoying team youd probably want to pass on.

You know Ive never had a doom/Punisher team, idk just doesnt seem like they go right together.

 
Playing through the events with my insanely powered up Torch, I have come to realize that the dynamics of a Torch, BP and Hulk.

Torch's Red is really strong and costs very little and resupplies two red and causes cascades. His green then is extremely powerful if you keep a decent supply of green even. Which is why Hulk is there to get angered and generate green. He basically functions as a tank but obviously still has strong red and greens to fall back on if they need to be used. Then you have BP with his yellow and blue creating strike and protect tiles to boost base damage and his black as an all around finisher.

Doesnt sound all that amazing but when playing through it works really well.

Game heard me complaining, so it gave me a 3* black Torch. Thanks? Wasn't really looking for yet another Green/Red/Black character to beef up, but he's boosted in the simulator, so good timing. Got him at 5/3/3 now.

Although, now that I think about it, if you aren't running anyone who needs the other colors, his black has no down side. Hmm.

AI is definitely smarter. I watched it avoid a 4-in-a-row because it had a friendly defense tile in the match. Never saw that before. I'm still convinced the AI has access to the next few rows of incoming gems when it makes a match decision, still seeing a lot of 'lucky' cascades. I know there might be some confirmation bias in there, but seems to happen too often.

I have been saying how good Torch is from his release! Glad to see more love for him with this event. His black if timed correctly or when paired with a team not using that color makes 8x ~200 strike tiles. Not to mention his red that does over 3k and cascades!

The big downside is that he has a fairly low health pool

 
All good team suggestions.

I use whoever's boosted and isnt running low on health.

I like pairing Magneto with Hulk for massive board clearing.  And then Punisher for Black and massive Red Damage. (But Magneto's red  does more damage, at a higher cost)

In this tournament I like using the boosted Torch but his black takes too long to power up (compared to Punisher's). And for Red I'd rather use Mags or Punisher.

There definately is alot of options. I do wish I had a strong Daken and Falcon like you suggested. The idea of numerous boosted strike tiles sounds unstoppable.  You'd do all your damage from matching as opposed to powers. Totally different strategy.

 
Now that my Falcon's at 1/1/1, I'm looking forward to using him with Punisher, and eventually LDaken when I finally get his purple!

The only issue in the current PvP is that I can't really place any strike tiles until the other side's Falcon is gone.

Definitely enjoying Torch3 now, so personally I don't mind the idea of having a Torch2 as a backup that probably won't take long to max out.

After Punisher, who needs another R/G/B character? It gets hard running them both on a team together. Actually when I have Torch, which Im *ahem* warming up to, I hoard greens. I mean flame jet, I honestly dont worry about any of his other powers but flame jet.

Still on the fence about a 2* Torch, I mean I just dont get it. How bad will he be neutered? 2* to 3* cap is incredulous in its improvements. So how bad will Johnny be nuetered?

I am having the worst F2P game luck ever this morning.

In Marvel I accidentally used a healthpack on my Thor when he was only down 200 health.

Then in Monster Warlord I hit a bump on the train and paid half of my gems (HP equivalent) to 'recover' a failed combination of monsters that I cared nothing about and is worthless to me. And then there is a combine event in general and I used up 1/3 of my money in the game and lost nearly all of my top monsters in failed combinations.

Then playing Marvel: Avengers Alliance on FB I accidentally bumped the back button my mouse as I was about to win a PvP match.

I am done. Ugh.

I apparently am an idiot thinking it couldnt get worse.

I literally now have 1/3 the money I did in Monster Warlord (that I have been saving for over a year) and worse monsters than I started off with this morning. And the gem thing. Awesome. I need to just actually do work or something haha

I play Kaizen Rumble daily and it keeps bringing up 'offers' of Monster Warlord for me. ( ie, play Monster Warlord, get 100 coins)

I like it as a mindless game but really in the grand scheme of things it kind of sucks hahah

It is just that basic addicting click buttons kind of monster collecting boss fighting game. I feel like if I started playing it now I wouldnt keep playing but at the time I did get hooked and now since so much time (and some money) has been invested I still regularly play.

What game everyone should play besides MPQ is Hero Academy. That is such a great asynchronous multiplayer game.

When I saw this was an asynchronous MP game, I really regretted skipping out on the Humble Bundle. I've been watching for it ever since. It's not on Amazon, so I can't use coins, and it hasn't seen any good sales, either.

I haven't played that in ages. I think I stopped playing around the time the Steam version came out? Maybe a little after? Never uninstalled from my iPad, though.

I haven't gotten back in to it because I'm sure I suck compared to the veterans who have been playing it regularly.

Yeah I was trying to hunt down a copy for a friend who I was trying to get to start playing but it was difficult. I found pretty much what seemed to be the last CAG who had one from that bundle available. I scored it for $1. $17 or whatever for everything is a bit out there but in reality the game is pretty awesome and is well worth it.

Try steamtrades or one of those other sites as I was able to see a couple out there that still had them available.

We all are friends on FB now for MPQ and so it would make playing that much easier together with our MPQ friends!

The game is pretty easy to get back in the swing of. I havent played it in many months and have started back up again and halfway through a few matches I am already back into it and remembering all of the little nuances of the teams.

I actually own almost all of those and had them up in all of my places I lived during undergrad hahah

I may pick up the couple I don't have just for shits and giggles.

So I landed top 5 in both sub events but somehow was squeeked out last second overall to #6.... I really couldn't care less about the green torch cover... I just really wanted that 3k extra iso : (

Oh and the 4 tokens got me all 2 stars and a Red Torch which I have had maxed out for months. Cooool.

 
I did well enough to get one red, which was probably from the alliance.

Got two gold covers out of my subevent tokens. A yellow IW and a purple Daredevil. Lazy Bagman and the only Daredevil cover I don't need. Heh.
 
I got a Red two star torch from the event. Promptly sold him off.

I'll play slightly in the Rag tournament, but I don't care for Iron Man 40. I'm about 1100 away from the 5000 point 10 token reward.

Real world stuff happened & I virtually missed out on the last day for everything. I didnt even play the Falcon tourney which at least lets me know you get the alliance rewards even if you dont play a round.

Got a red Johhny storm too, dont know how, whatever. He's gonna be like all those Ares covers soon. Now there's really nothing to do. I mean the Butt crack of doom for IM40? I want the blue, but thats too much effort.

Same, I completely forgot to play the Falcon tourney and I even had the seed teams ready haha Plus I was gone all day yesterday and barely got in a game or two after noon. We didnt get the Alliance Torch though so the ones you guys got were because of your individual ranking. We were at like #137 as an Alliance.

 
Steve is the reward for the new PvE.

I need to get top 50 overall and top 100 in the Alliance and I can have a maxed out Lazy Captain America at the perfect 3/5/5

You can GUARANTEE I will be doing lots of random booting to make sure we get to the top. We need to really push with this one guys! Not just for me hahah Steve is a great character in this game and so the more you have the better! Plus his Blue is arguably now the best Blue move in the game

It sucks though my buddy Juggernaut has been in Jamaica and not playing at all and since he is usually a top scorer like us it really is negatively impacting our rewards!
