Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2: Fusion - Gen Discussion & Info - DLC RESTORED!

Mmmmh, I wasn't gonna cancel until I got the code anyhow, but he will be available for DLC sometime soon. He will be timed exclusive, the PSN DLC proved that they are ready to have him offered as paid DLC in the future. They are saying that mainly as a way to calm fans who actually reserve and they don't get the "exclusivity".

I hate it when gaming/software companies assume we're idiots. Even if this is the case, they'll come out with a "Gold Edition" months later which will have him. With this and the lame Robo Nick Fury (who I figure somehow will be more powerful than half the characters listed), I'm almost tempted to save my loot and just grab ODST the week after. Our Targets will have this bad boy red stickered by the middle of November due to so many other highly publicized games coming out.

With that said, where is all the PR for this thing? Wolverine Origins was all over the place. I think I've seen 1 commercial about it (but that might have been on G4). Come on Activision! Have you decided to put all your chips in on DJ Hero and COD MW2 this holiday season? And these people wonder why their games don't do well.

I don't know if Activision is specifically running any spots for this game, but I know for a fact I've seen several TV spots for the game from Gamestop mentioning the Juggernaut pre-order code. Actually, I think I've some commercials during WWE Raw for the game.

Edit: Robo Nick Fury is pretty lame. They could have thrown in a Namor or a Captain Marvell or even a Black Bolt perhaps. Oh well. I wonder who will be in the first batch of DLC character. Anybody ready to throw out some names?

Namor, Marvell and Black Bolt! ;)

I'm hoping for Ronin at some point, but it will probably be Cyclops, Psylocke, Blade, The Sentry and She-Hulk, since those are all console exclusive to Wii or DS and they already have the game code written for them.

I really like that Green Goblin is in here, so I'd love to see more villains in a DLC pack. Give me Morbius, Mysterio, Kraven, Super Skrull, Absorbing Man and Mandarin
Namor, Marvell and Black Bolt! ;)

+1 for ronin. I gotta say I prefer him to hawkeye.

and robo nick fury...seriously what were they thinking? Normal Nick Fury is badass enough, he doesn't need to be a robot.

It's not exactly Robo Nick Fury. It is sorta, but not exactly. I can't say much without giving away the story of the game. It was definitely fun. Got my copy early from a local mom & pop shop. They will eventually get in trouble for letting games out early, but I'm not going to complain. Got it yesterday afternoon.

For me I'd like to see Nova, Herc, Blackbolt, Namor & Thanos.

I'm pleased with the current roster. I'm still debating who my team will be since there's so many combination's I want to use. Do I make a T-Bolts team, New Avengers, or just personal favorites?

The roster might not be as big as MUA but I didn't use more than half the cast anyways. And that's mainly due to poor movelists and generally weak stats when compared to other more powerful characters. Hopfully we have a more balanced game this time around.

Ronin would definitely be killer. I was hoping for him as DLC for MUA1. With the exception of Cyclops, I can't really complain at that list you gave for DLC (don't forget Juggernaut at some point). I wanted Sentry in the first, and I think he would be extremely over powered and killer in this one. She-Hulk would be a fun female to play as well. Black Panther should also return. There's another stupid move for leaving him out when he was playable in the first.

Edit: Holy Shit!!! You know what I just realized, no Moon Knight!!! NOO!!!!! He was my favorite character to play as in MUA1. fuck. He better be DLC now.

And why no Doc Strange, Silver Surfer, or Ghost Rider? Ughh...The character list has just become such a let down for me now that I've been able to read through it and compare the two. How much you wanna bet several of these characters turn into DLC this time around.

I'm going to put a guarantee that Hawkeye is DLC again.

I liked using Magneto and his Xorn costume in the first one actually. I don't know why I said that but meh. Hopefully we have some characters that have outfits like that

Just played through the first 2 hours of the game with some friends. I love it. All the fusions are very cool. Unfortunatly you have to unlock about half of the cast, which means no Thor, Venom or Iron Fist off the bat.

I tried using as many characters as possible without pissing off my friends. They all wanted to blow through the game while I wanted to take my time. I used Spidey, Iceman, Thing and Cap. They all played great. I was really surprised with Iceman, he's actually very fun.

It's very easy to blow through the game. That is what I did through my first play through. My second time I plan on doing Pro-Reg and pick up the rest of the items I missed. Mainly the two items needed to unlock The Hulk. Also, not spoiling anything, but there is an item from Hulk in game that is just downright hilarious.

How long did it take you to play through it?

For those of you interested in a physical bonus with the game, looks like Wal-Mart's getting an exclusive comic. Doesn't sound like anything mind-blowing, but there it is:

Key Moments of CIVIL WAR comic book, exclusive to Wal-Mart

If you think the standard 24-plus character roster will provide more than enough world-saving action, you may want to consider Wal-Mart's exclusive offer; rather than giving gamers a character-unlocking code, the retailer has opted to offer an exclusive comic book—complete with Gabriele Dell'Otto-cover art that highlights key moments of the Civil War saga.
How long did it take you to play through it?
Probably around, 7-8 hours. There were interruptions to my gameplay so I'm unsure as to exactly how long. Don't think there was an in-game timer either. Didn't check though, there might have been.

EDIT: There is, I'm a moron. It says I have a total of 7:10:22 in game time. You need to subtract about forty-five minutes to an hour. I was redoing levels, after beating the game, to unlock as many of the alternate costumes as I could after doing the Anti-Reg scenario. I think about 3 of them you have to get through being Pro-Reg: Mr. Fantastic, Ms. Marvel, and Songbird. I could be wrong on that though, I was just unable to unlock Ms. Marvel and Songbird like I had all the others. A few weren't specific on either side, just defeat enemies.

Here is the breakdown of how to obtain the Alternate Costumes:
Captain America - 50 foes beaten after choosing Anti-Reg.
Daredevil - 50 foes beaten after choosing Pro or Anti.
Deadpool - 50 foes beaten after choosing Pro-Reg.
Gambit - 50 foes beaten after choosing Pro or Anti.
Green Goblin - Beat 50 foes.
Hulk - Beat 50 foes.
Human Torch - 50 foes beaten after choosing Anti-Reg.
Iceman - 50 foes beaten after choosing Pro or Anti.
Invisible Woman - 50 foes beaten after choosing Anti-Reg.
Iron Fist - 50 foes beaten after choosing Anti-Reg.
Iron Man - 50 foes beaten after choosing Pro-Reg.
Jean Grey - Beat 50 foes.
Luke Cage - 50 foes beaten after choosing Anti-Reg.
Mr. Fantastic - 50 foes beaten after choosing Pro-Reg.
Ms. Marvel - 50 foes beaten after choosing Pro-Reg.
Penance - Beat 50 foes.
Songbird - 50 foes beaten after choosing Pro-Reg.
Spider-man - 50 foes beaten after choosing Pro-Reg.
Storm - 50 foes beaten after choosing Pro or Anti.
Wolverine - 50 foes beaten after choosing Anti-Reg.
Thing - 50 foes beaten after choosing Pro or Anti.
Thor - Beat 50 foes.
Venom - Beat 50 foes.

...only one costume per character? Kind of weak.

Would anyone that's played it say it's better or worse than MUA 1?

I don't remember how long MUA 1 was either, but 6 - 7 hours to beat the game seems... really short? I remember MUA being kind of long. I'm debating whether to keep my preorder or go ahead with it, considering all the other amazing games coming out in the weeks ahead... if only Raven was working on it, I would have more faith =/

Well that's 6-7 hours of running through it not trying to get every piece on your first run through. Also, that's just Anti-Reg, you are looking at another 6-7 for Pro-Reg. I actually found this game to be better than the first one. Personal opinion though.

Meh. 6-7 hours is definitely weak. The first one was definitely much longer than that, and you still had to go back and replay levels to find stuff, and then there was the second play through on Hard Mode (achievement, etc.). With all this new information coming out recently, what would have been an instant 1st day buy for me might have just now gone to the backseat. I might just wait for the Gold-Super Duper Platinum Edition with the characters the game should have come out with. If it's true that there is only one additional costume per character, than it wouldn't surprise me to find out that costumes are another thing they'll try to throw out as DLC. Weak sauce.

jp0213 - You already beat it? You're insane. You're like a 13 year old that first discovered masturbation. Savor the flavor and pace yourself you silly bastard.

Well you basically have to play the game twice, do both paths. So I figured first pass through I could go through quickly then spend more time on the 2nd run. That and my backlog is gigantic. I started and beat Mini Ninjas today as well. Probably going to go through on Legendary on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Anyone know why Best Buy is offering a Hulk exclusive character for download for PS3 and X360?
I think what they are offering is an "exclusive" code to unlock him from the start. I couldn't get a good look at the image of the cover online but that is what it looks like it said. Similar to the codes for "exclusive" outfits from GameStop like on Fracture. Just an in-game code, not really downloadable.

Can anyone who's played so far comment on the quality of the characters?

I'm kind of assuming that since the roster seems smaller that each character will have had more attention paid to them. Also, is coop (local in particular) handled any differently?

I wasn't able to get in depth with the characters, but from what I've played everyone seems to be useful. Keep in mind the first MUA had 25 characters (not including DLC) so I'm not sure what people are talking about when they say the roster is small. It's bigger than both X-Men legends games.

Multiplayer generally feels the same but streamlined to be less of a pain.

1. Fusion. There are very large mobs in this game so fusion is almost required at times. Trying out new fusions is a lot of fun and very cool to just watch.
2. The way you heal is a little different. You only get two health tokens. You can heal yourself or any other team member. These are also used to revive a fallen member.
3. Adding level points is made easy. You can add them on the fly without pausing the game. You character becomes AI controlled and a mini hub is displayed were you make the changes.
4. You can swap characters at any time. No more finding a save point to switch out teammates.

I'm glad to see the quiz is back. I was always good at these and my friends depend on me to answer everything. This time if you're playing multiplayer you each get to answer. If everyone gets the answer correct you get an EXP boost.

So we get 4 new characters? It's a bit dissapointing.

Nick Fury as a robot is pretty lame, where the hell did that come from?

Think I'll wait for a price drop on this one.

I don't remember how the first MUA's camera worked, but in MUA 2 you can move it freely (most of the time) with the right stick. There are times in the game where the camera is locked, but the perspective the game gives mostly makes sense.

The one thing that really irks me is that the mini map no longer shows up with the click of the right stick, pretty annoying. I don't want to go through a Pause menu and go to "Map" to have it briefly show me where I haven't been yet.

Also, does anyone know how I can turn the Autospend function off permanently? Whenever I put in a new team member, it's automatically on so I turn it off. Then after I finish a section with the same character, it turns itself back on automatically, really fucking annoying.

I think the issue with the character roster is that they included so many great and beloved characters in the first game, and for the most part, did them properly. Even the lesser known characters were fun to play as. Moon Knight anyone? I don't know, without playing and just reading what has been written about the game, it kind of feels like it's regressed a bit.

Moon Knight was surprisingly fun to use. But IMO I think this cast is better than the last one. All the characters they dropped (Ghost Rider, Blade, Dr. Strange, Spider Woman, etc.) I never used nor cared about. I'm very anxious to try out Iron Fist, Penance, Green Goblin., & Songbird.

I think the cast is still pretty solid, but I feel that some of the additions don't hold up, and find it especially lame that other versions of the game are getting certain supposed "exclusive" characters when it's pretty much certain they'll be available as DLC (Juggernaut for example). I hope I'm not in the minority, but I actually liked playing as Blade and Dr. Strange. Ghost Rider to a lesser extent as well. Spider-Woman was pretty much garbage and should have been left out on the first one from the start, but I think she would actually make sense to have in this one because of the Civil War storyline. I wanted Iron Fist in the first game, but don't really care for Penance/Speedball. Songbird could be fun, but I'm not sure. And I don't really care for Green Goblin as he seems out of place in a game like this. Oh well, I'll just give it a rent at first I guess.

I'm a little bit of Penance fan but a much bigger Thunderbolts fan so it's nice to see you can create a full team along with Songbird, Goblin & Venom. Plus I have pretty much all the comics he's in (Civil War: Frontline, Penance: Relentless & T-Bolts)

I actually popped in the first one last night and the combat feels more satisfying....its weird....they are both very similar, but it might be the level design. If you love the Civil War storyline and liked the first one....I still say its worth buying

I'm so hyped. It sucks I have to work tomarrow. I feel like skipping so I can play this all day.

I heard a rumor some GS were having midnight launches. I called my GS and they denied this. oh well.

Mine is, but I'm not going to bother getting it till tomorrow after classes and work is over or else I'd be too tempted to skip everything.

My store had a midnight. I picked it up and played through the first section. I like the gameplay better than the first one already.

I got a Juggernaut code on my inbox. A while back I attempted to get one without pre-ordering by inputting a code from an old GS receipt...actually I was trying to get a VIP code but It worked!

Code doesn't allow me to redeem it yet, hopefully tomorrow it works.

I'm shocked by all the Spider-Woman hate. She was on my team through almost all of the first game, her energy blast was bad-ass.

Also, got my Juggernaut code this morning. I didn't have time to try and redeem it before leaving for work, but I'm not in any rush since I have to wait for my copy of the game from GS.com. Hopefully it gets here by Friday.

My code worked and downloaded last night for 360.

From a thread I read on Gamespot, the code only seem to work if you input them directly from the console, not on Xbox.com. Tried my code on Xbox.com and I got an error. Will try it when I get home but one person was having the same problem and it worked for him apparently. Just FYI to everyone with the code.

Why no love for Spider Woman? Once you max out her venom blast, she can pretty much take out any of the grunts with one shot, even on the hard difficulty

Hey guys, I heard that there is a glitch in the distribution of the Jugg codes and EVERYONE is getting 360 codes. If you need a PS3 code, you are told to reply back and they will send the correct code. You guys should see if this can be used to get a code for both systems (and go help out your fellow CAGs on the PS3 board).
