You forgot the 'with no resell rights' part of that statement about getting it on XBL or PSN though.
Even though I can't stand the Street Fighter kind of fighting games, I'd rather have a physical copy of it rather than a digital download I overpaid for.
No DD is worth over $5.
I agree with you for the most part here. Ive gotten a couple for more than 5 but were talking like 2 games over 5 and thats it.
But I agree thats also why I dont like DD. Plus if I buy a game off a shelf I can play it in 15 years if I want to, just like I did with my NES yesterday. With a DD who is say that in 15 years the service will still be up and with consoles going towards re purchasing DD instead of backward compatibility a game I buy on the ps3 DD may not work on the ps5 in 15 years, if the service is even still up. Pc games are worse since there is no guarntee a game out now will work on whatever version of windows is out in 15 years.
But when I buy a game its mine. I can loan it to a friend, I can sell it, I can trade it or I can keep it and play it again it in 35 years and most of all the, the game belongs to me and me alone. I dont need to log in to a account, I dont need to verify my game via internet authentication, I dont have to wait to download it again because its in my hand and it belongs to me.
