Marvel vs. Capcom 3 discussion thread

Point is, if you find someway to turn your $10 preorder credit into the 2 DLC characters, you'd only be saving ten bucks. If they're less expensive than $5 each, you save more. More than that, you save less. If they're $10 each, you save nothing, but that'd be robbery.

Also worth bringing up this thread http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=284266. Depending on whether or not you have to pay tax, you can save a couple bucks on the SE. For example, since I don't, I'm getting it for $63. If shipping concerns you, word in that thread is that it should come within a day or so of launch if you get your order early enough.

Since 20.00 is the smallest PSN card you can buy, you are still spending 70.00, so you're technically not saving anything. You're getting less when it comes to MvC3 (no steelbook or comic) but getting more when it comes to PSN (leftover credit).

I'll probably go this route myself, but grab a 1600 points card instead, and then use the extra 10.00 towards Torchlight or something.
 
Makes sense, thanks guys, guess the SE it is then! Anyone know precisely how many DLC characters there will be? I hope not too many. Also, how is the fighting style compared to SSFIV?

You can buy $10 PSN cards, though Amazon is usually out of stock on them.
 
Just a heads up, if you want to play with other CAGs we have a little group called CAG Fighter IV. It's a silver tag but if you add it to your friends list, you can view the Friend of Friend list and see all the other CAGs online. We usually get a session going Wednesday nights. Add it if you'd like. Details in my sig.

So what team is everyone planning to start with? I'm thinking something along the lines of Deadpool/Skrull/Viper.
 
After watching more and more videos, Viper seems like a must play. I am thinking of heading to a tournament at the end of February, in which case I would probably main Viper / Storm / Skrull.

If I decide not to go to the tournament and instead just play for fun for the first month or so, I am definitely looking to check out Arthur, Haggar, Modok, Dante and Thor.
 
So he wasn't included because he would need more moves? Look at Guile, he's only ever had 2 moves cause he only needs 2 moves.

He's been in both games. Stupid excuse is stupid but if the MvC3 version were anything like the priors then I for damn sure won't dare shed any tears in his absence.

Okay, if I must be more explicit, then I could and do swear he's been in MvC games before. Heck, I imported a Japanese Dreamcast with MvC1 before the US version hit back in '99, so I'm probably a decent MvC fan.

Driving up to Gamestop tomorrow to pre-order this, this just seems like a good pre-order deal (The artbook, steel case, and comic makes it a must-buy for me)

I think I'm gonna wait on this one, knowing Capcom this will be $29.99 in like 5 months and $19.99 or less sometime around Black Friday 2011.

Just check the Gamestop site, the Special Edition isn't showing anymore. I'm just going to go up there tomorrow since it is on my way home from school and check if I can still pre-order the Special Edition from there (since this is a game that I doubt anyone pre-ordered from my town, out of a school with 800 people, I have only ever heard of Marvel vs. Capcom)

I don't doubt you'll be able to get it Day one, but all GameStops stopped taking preorders for the CE at the same time. You can preorder a regular edition and then upgrade to the Special when you pick it up, but that'll be all.
 
Think I might be going with Akuma/Spencer/Wesker. I've always been a fan of Akuma, glad he's in.

The whole X-Factor aspect of the game confuses me. What exactly is it? Is it just a temporary boost to your attack power?
 
Since Team Law and Order: SVU (Wright/She-Hulk/Redfield) and Zombrex Flavored Pringles (West/Valentine/Redfield) have escaped my diabolical grasp I have no choice but to replace them with Mid-Boss Materia (Tron/Skrull/Pool) or The Houdini Splicers (Akuma/Wesker/Pool) eventually.

At launch my horribly rusty bum ass will humbly restrict himself to arcade and training modes until I feel comfortable enough to unleash VHS ON DVD (Zero/Phoenix/Mag) out into the world.
 
I gotta go Ammy as a main. An interchangeable group of 5 will compete for the other two open spots: Chris, Zero, Cap'n, Deadpool, & X-23. Less than 3 weeks away! Can't wait!

P.S. Capcom - Please put Cammy and Psylocke as DLC characters in this game!

So Hsien-Ko and Sentinel, huh? Don't know who the first one is and Sentinel is probably going to get a big ol' nerf from MvC2.

I really hope the difficulty curve on Arcade mode is a lot lower than it was in MvC2 as well. Oh, and can it have some just straight up Vs CPU like in SSF4? I hated that that option wasn't there in TvC.

I think I should go pay off my pre-order on MvC3 next week when they have the Shiny Suicune up for grabs. Right now MvC is my hype game.
 
I love how the internet's collective head is exploding over the addition of Sentinel. He still hits pretty hard but he's clearly much slower. I think he's a great addition to the game but I'll only play him if they have dat Mango Sentinel.

Also, LOL @ him being teamed with Magneto & Storm in the beginning of his reveal trailer.

I agree with you to a point. He is much slower than he was in MvsC2, but he still has VERY high stamina and heavy hits. I also see that he can chain 2 hyper combos back to back. Just think of the possibilities of 3-5 hyper combos at once.

I am still getting this game:lol:

I did not even notice the beginning of the trailer. That shit had me on the floor dying!

Are you serious? MvC2 is literally one of the easiest games I've ever played, I could beat it blind-folded.

Haha that was funny. Agreed though, I haven't seen anything that puts him over the top.

Also, do you think that throw was a command throw? If so that would be bad ass.

Most characters seem to be able to string together multiple super moves, from the various videos I've seen.
