Marvel vs. Capcom 3 discussion thread
I really haven't had many issues with execution crippling lag in online matches. The game's simply slower online than it is offline. There's just a perpetual delay over the netcode in general. I haven't had any complaints about my connection before except for bs, but if it's really that bad, I'll just not bother anymore.
Aside from when I was having internet issues, I've never really had connection problems with you. That goes for every fighting game we play. I played ranked yesterday for the first time in a while and that really shows how bad connections can be.

The timing on some stuff online is definitely a lot tighter. I can do Wolverine's L, M, H, S -> M, M, H xx drill, df.H -> H, S -> M, M, H xx drill xx Fatal Claw practically in my sleep offline but miss it online occasionally. If I drop one extra hit on it online, it seems to be more consistent - which kind of sucks.

The weirdest thing I've found about how the netcode works in this game is it will slow down and then all of a sudden speed faster than the normal.

MK online makes Marvel online look absolutely pathetic in comparison in terms of features. Plus, since everyone on CAG that plays it is a god, I have no desire to play it anymore.

In SF/MK, I have a chance to be competitive/win, but I use the same 2-3 characters for the games and everyone yells at me for it so I have less desire to play.

I can only speak from my own experience, but no one I've played with on CAG FIGHTER IV will yell if you use the same 2-3 characters over and over... that's what's called having a "main." Of course, if everyone's picking randoms, and you're picking your main, then I can imagine people wouldn't be too pleased.

I really enjoy both games but they each have their pros and cons. I agree that MVC3 sucks in terms of different modes (mainly no spectator mode), but at least the match connection is fairly solid.

MK has a ton of features, but the interface is awful and the input delay can be terrible.

Like Guardian mentioned, most CAGs don't get upset if you use the same characters unless we're all playing randoms. I pretty much just play my main and no one gets upset.

Besides, if you're just getting bodied in Marvel - ask questions. Guardian beats me pretty convincingly but I've asked questions about my losses, tried new things out, and I'm starting to take some games from him. Knowledge is power!

Voice rage mail is fun. I almost didn't listen to it, but then it turned out to be hilarious.

My first 2 chars go down fast. With my last char, I take out his first char after he did random bionic arm, and caught his second char in a sougenmu combo, and then he quits. I ask why. Then he sends me the following in a voice message:

"I'm not reading your message you stupid mother fucker, I don't give a shit what the fuck you've got to say. I'm only doing this shit 'cause I'm preparing for a foreign event. Once I lose a character that's it. Stupid mother fucker. You're not Marn you stupid fucking idiot. Stay free mother fucker." At the end it sounds like he spit on the floor.

I think I am just about done with this POS game.

I really wanted to like this, but this game makes MvC2 look like the most balanced game ever created.
What are your main problems with it?
Sentinel and Taskmaster traps, lack of charge-based characters, the ridiculous air-combo system, the crappy custom-match search just to name a few.

I think that this game is too fast for a charge character to be very effective. Are you referring to air exchanges? Those can be countered pretty easily. I do agree that the matchmaking is very bad. The least they could of done was give you a list showing people's connections like they do in street fighter.

I did a bunch of air combo crossovers (which I just figured out how to do the other day) and even the cpu countered them a bunch of time...there's still a ton of things to learn and get used to, it becomes a lot less frustrating once you start to figure out all the things you can and cannot do.

At least with the ridiculous air combo system there is damage decay or whatever they call it. Advancing guard!

my friend kept countering my air combos and i yell at him about it he told me he was just pointing towards me and pressing A. well i find that hard to counter when im pressing down/up

@ timesplitt - ironically enough there aren't any powerstone characters in this game. I still want Strider as DLC...I almost thought you posted a pic of Cid from FF there for a second.
