Marvel vs Capcom 3 Strategy Guide $11.55 on Amazon FSSS eligilble

Awesome, mine that I picked up for $10.XX just shipped. I'm escorting contractors for the next 6 weeks that are working on some valuable equipment at work, so I'm gonna take this in with me and practice combos on my air arcade stick.
Is this guide even worth getting with all the DLCs coming in the future?
Yeah but you could really find all of this online. With all the DLC and stuff I can't convince myself to buy this or the game.
Is there any artwork in this guide? Never really bought a guide before. Is there anything on here that isn't found on SRK MVC3 wiki?

The guide is over 400 pages with small text. This thing is a textbook. It will take you a good amount of time to read through all of it.

Dang it! I just ordered some art books and now I really want this. By the time I realized it was too late to cancel my other order. I need something $14 to fill in for FSSS.

I was vastly surprised how much information is in this guide. Great stuff!

Got mine in yesterday, in great condition. I can also vouch for how high quality this guide is. It taught me some moves with my team and has a lot of cool info, sure you could probably find most of it online but it's really nice having it all condensed into book format since its easier to read whenever you want to.

I'm looking forward to it being on my porch when I get home from work. This is the first guide I've paid more than a penny for in forever to be honest. I suck at these games though but I'm hoping that combining the Tekken 6 stick that I got from BB (I know, not the greatest but better than the regular controller) and studying this guide will make me at least a little bit better.

Got mine today in almost perfect condition. Better condition than anything on gamestop's book racks. It has great info that you COULD find online but I'd rather have the book next to me than a laptop unless I'm trying out the newest combos. If your the kind of guy who's on top of everything that goes on at shoryuken.com or is responsible for the content you'll at the very least have the frame data on hand. If all you want is art on the other hand you'll find this guide to be lacking. This guide is filled with info and few pages are dedicated to art. You get the art on the inside flaps and a full char portrait for every fighter. That's it. This guide has the greatest benefit to those new to the game and to those who don't even know what shoryuken.com is. Personally the frame data is enough for me. The techniques, strategies, and combos were just an added bonus.

If a friend asked me at gamestop, while purchasing the game, whether he needed the guide I would say yes. When you think about it that's the highest recommendation a guide can get.

Then I would call my friend an idiot for dragging me to gamestop and to go home (and be a family man) and buy the stuff at amazon.

Amazing guide, by far the best I've ever purchased. Great for getting to know the game and tons of deep level information. If you're on the fence pick it up, you won't regret it.

I'd consider it if it were hardcover or limited. But since this is just a guide, I'll pass. Pretty good deal, though.

Got my guide today in perfect condition.

Ordered it along with the Classic Controller adapter so I could use the TvC stick on the PS3. Can't wait to try it out:bouncy:

my thoughts exactly...

Is there a fold-out poster of some kind included in the guide? I remember they used to do those a lot in the day.

Even there is no missions guide included, everyone tells me its a good one to have. Considering my MvC2 fanboyism I just have got to have this on the shelf.
Is there a defense for Akumas infinite in the guide? *sigh*

There's an X-23 infinite mentioned in the guide. Plus there's plenty of infinite possibilities in the game itself that I'm sure aren't in the guide either. Shame this game couldn't be the perfectly balanced treasure that MvC2 was, huh?

Would have thought they'd include a mention for Mission mode. Bit of a shame, but to be honest, you don't really need a guide for that. Just perseverance and lots of practice. Just did this last night actually:

Figured as much. Was told the mission mode is definitely considered easier for experienced fighters compared to Capcom's previous "standards". I'll be getting MvC3 shortly enough.

I remember those days! Still have my Onimusha poster hanging on the wall haha.

Unfortunately, there is no poster in this one.

i honestly pooped a brick when i saw that 100% mission screen - nice job!

on a side note received my guide yesterday evening.

Got mine yesterday. I was not aware there was such a thing as TMI for a strategy guide, but I think this brushes up against that.

It's truly mind-boggling and I'm not sure I have the intellectual dexterity to really make sense of any of it.

I think I am doomed never to go to EVO.

No need to feel bad. The guide is best suited for fighting game fans and hardcores. Although the definitions and system explanation is nice, this can be overwhelming for casuals.

Got the guide. First thing I noticed was how thick it was. 400 pages and so much information that some pages require fine text. Very impressive.

The guide is just full of details. So much detail that it's going to overwhleming for someone who is new to fighters but even the writers of the guide acknowledge that with the all too familiar advice of practice, practice, practice. I personally just sent out my guide to Amazon for a trade-in because Marvel 3 just received a balance patch on 03/22 and players are still trying to figure out everything that got changed. To me, that makes the guide outdated. Objectively speaking, the majority of the information isn't outdated but I don't like going into a guide having to remind myself what information still applies to the game and what got changed by the developers.

I see your point, but if you look at the details of the patch, you will find that there is not much that will make the guide outdated.

My main problems with the guide, especially as a fighting game noob, is it's complexity (as explained ad nauseum on here) and the fact that guides just don't lend themselves to videogames that well in the era of internet videos. There are tons of combos in there that I try endlessly (and fail to complete) only to watch a quick video and get it no problem.

Does the Guide also cover JILL VALENTINE and SHUMA-GORATH?

As for the patch...

- took off AKUMA's and SPENCER's infinite loops
- took down SENTINEL's health from 1.3 to 0.9
