Mass Effect 2 coming to PS3 January 2011

I did converse with him every after every mission, and kept getting the "I still have to think about what we've already discussed" line. Eventually I had no choice but to go through the Omega-4 relay, and there was no consummation; Shepard just looked longingly at her picture of Kaidan.

Might be that you recruited Thane too late in the mission cycle (such as after the Reaper IFF mission) as quite often the conversation only moves to the next step after completing another mission. You probably need to complete a few more missions, talking to Thane inbetween, in order to get to the end of the conversation tree. Unfortunately you can't do that without
killing members of your crew by delaying the Suicide mission
.

You did do (and did not fail) his loyalty mission right? As the romance conversation tree isn't unlocked until you gain his loyalty.

I recruited Thane early on, and gained his loyalty early on, too. We talked about his son at length, in our initial conversations. As I said, I reached the point where he called me "siha."

According to the Wiki, unless you do a Renegade conversation option right towards the end of the conversation, you should be good to go:

Anyone know if they patched or fixed that supposed saved game problem it was having?

I just got it, waiting for psn to come up so I can activate the cerberus network before I play and wondering if they ever fixed it.

For what it's worth, I just beat it last week after putting in nearly 50 hours and I never encountered any save problems.

First patch - fixed corrupted save game issue (only happens when you save your game too many times in one sitting)
Second Patch - fixed issue where some times player doesn't get trophy for completing an insanity run. Introduced error in logging for choices for Mass Effect 1 in genesis comic: who you save and whether to save the council choices are bugged.
Third patch - Will fix genesis comic issue, has been submitted to Sony so whenever they approve it the fix will be available.

If patch isn't out by the time PSN is back up I would download the DLC, start a new save game and play up through talking to the illusive man, save, then patch the game. The genesis comic problem only happens for save games created after the patch is installed. Game should be patched by the time you are ready to create a new character.

I have a question about the bonus power- I just finished my normal playthrough, and had a bonus power (Warp Ammo). When I started insanity, I imported my character, and it told me i could pick a bonus power. I chose the warp ammo again, but it had me thinking- is that a new bonus power or were they just giving me the option to change it if i wanted?

After you have finished the game with one character, every ME2 character you do "new game+" or every new character you create starts with +25% XP gain and 1 bonus power of your choice. It can be any loyalty power which you have unlocked with any of your characters (or stasis if you have played the shadow broker mission). Or if you do Morinth with one playthrough and Samara with another. I started a fresh Adept for insanity and it let me pick a bonus power to start.

So if I had picked something other than Warp Ammo, i would have started the game with Warp Ammo (from my previous game's bonus power) and whatever new power i picked?

You can only have one bonus power. Whatever new power you pick (ex: AP ammo/flashbang/whatever) will replace the last one you had chosen (warp ammo).

Ok- that's what i was anticipating, but when i looked at the power wheel, it looked like there was an empty slot (probably for a different class).
Ya, it would be interesting to do a
kill entire crew except for just enough so that your Shepherd survives
run to see what effect that has on ME3.
Well I wasn't having much fun with my Vanguard so I decided to try this. By selling
Legion to Cerberus
, not doing or failing loyalty missions, not upgrading the ship, and picking the wrong people in the final mission I was able to
Kill off every crew member except for the doctor. and every recruitable squadmate except Zaeed and Miranda
it was awesome. I also killed Wrex in the Genesis comic.

It will be interesting to load up this save file with ME3 to see what impact it has.

I've often changed the bonus power depending on the mission I run, as you'd want different ones for organic enemies, non-organic enemies, and Collectors.

Download the dlc? You mean its not included on the disc?

And despite the psn being down your games will still updated themselves, I assume its on a different setup than the normal psn since it patched for me. Atleast I assume they will, I put resident evil 5 in last night and it updated it.

Im not playing it though till the psn is backup. I cant register my cerberus network code or the code that came with DAOU for the dragon armor. So Ill wait till psn is backup so I can do that before I start a game.

Some DLC is on the disc, but you get the Cerberus network DLC by entering the provided code at the PSN store.

Ya, Cerberus DLC is what I was talking about, that has the Normandy crash site mission, the genesis comic, Zaaed, and a few other incidentals. Dragon armor doesn't need a code on the PS3 version, it either comes with the Cerberus DLC or is on the disk as it is available in my game.

I dont know if this has been mentioned or if it's happened to anyone else, but I was playing a bit more through my playthrough last night and noticed something. My Shepard was coming off like the Illusive Man in terms of appearance. During the first real mission against the Collectors (with Ashley and the tower), when you find the guy hiding my shephard seemed to be halfway cloaked in darkness and his eyes had a tad of red in them (I had not fixed my scars yet). Then after the mission with the scene with the Illusive Man, his eyes were normal. Blue in fact. I kept noticing my Shepard's eyes being weird, so I got his scars fixed hoping that would correct whatever was going on. So I haven't seen the Illusive Man again yet, so I'm not sure if I'll run across it again.

Anyone else notice something like this?

It would be funny if the credits just start playing.

It's best to choose the paragon path or renegade path and stick to that path exclusively. Other than that have fun! It's an awesome game! I'm about halfway through my second playthrough and I could easily do a third.
I'm about to start up ME2 for the FIRST TIME! any pointers?
fuck anything that walks.

Edit: Sorry that's Dragon Age....lol, mah bad.
I'm about to start up ME2 for the FIRST TIME! any pointers?
Wait until PSN comes back as you can't download the genesis comic (which lets you input choices from ME1) / some of the DLC without entering the code. If you plan to do a second playthrough to carry over to ME3 then it doesn't matter.

-Normal is too easy, play on veteran.

Just beat the game and I have one question:
Do Daniels and Donnelly die in the Collector attack?
Going through now on Insanity. This is gonna be tough.
Just beat the game and I have one question:

Answer.
They don't assuming you go to save the crew right after that attack.

Thank you.
Was a bit worried. When I was saving them I noticed Chakwas and Chambers, but no one else recognizable.
Answer.
Not only that you
Have to send a squad member to escort them or they will all die. If the escort is not loyal then the crew will make it back safely, but the escort will die.

0 missions between attack and enter relay = all crew saved
1 mission between attack and enter relay = kelly dies
2 missions between attack and enter relay = kelly + 1/2 the crew dies
3+ missions between attack and enter relay = only survivor is the Doctor

While it may seem pretty pointless, visit every galaxy/planet. You will find some extra missions hidden out there.

Yea,
I made sure to go directly. Now I am going back through on insanity. Well for lack of a better word it is insane. This game is much more challenging than it was on normal. Getting a lot more out of it now. Taking much longer too.

you can fuck in Dragon Age? I need to go back to that game. I feel like I'm supposed to like the game but I can't get into it... I just don't like the combat.

damn! Now I have to wait till the end of May!!!!! I really thought that the comic would be on the damn disc. oh well, I'll hit up Assassin's Creed II and try to get that done by May 31st. I played a little bit of ME1 on the 360 (up until I got my space ship) is Normal on ME2 easier or harder than Normal from ME1.. cause I remember getting shot up on a couple occasions.

Question about the arrival dlc.

Does the arrival happen after you beat the game or is it integrated into the game during play?

I ask because I got ME2 and wanted to play the arrival,, I havent started it yet and the psn store isnt back for me to get yet. I didnt want to start playing the game until I get it if its integrated into the main game. But if its a seperate campaign kind of like some of the dragon age dlc or doesnt come until after you have beaten the game then Ill start playing it now.

I think it was sold as being afterwards- but it's timeline feels pretty fluid like they were intending for it to take place as one of the side missions leading up to the end of the game.

I think it's best played after you finish the main game, although it's accessable before the final mission IIRC. However, there is one major thing that can happen in it that I'm not sure about (and I'll ask here, so avoid this if you hate spoilers), but
what happens if you choose to warn the citizens of the planet instead of calling the Normandy to pick you up? Does your Shepherd die and if so, what happens in the main game if you do this mission before the final mission?

It doesn't matter if you try to call the Normandy or warn the planet when you're at the control panel for the asteroid. Kenson cuts in on the comm regardless, and you proceed along in the mission. Later on in the mission, you radio to the Normandy for pickup, so that choice earlier is a moot one.

So how do you play it after the final mission then if its integrated into the game and not like its own seperate campaign?

If its best played after you finish the game then I want to make sure I dont accidently start it, but dont spoil anything for me hehe.

Or should I just start playing the game, go through everything, beat it and then get the arrival?

When you bring up your map to select which galaxy and world to go to, it'll have a little pop-up the same way it does to other missions and I believe it says "save dr. whatshername" or it may just be "the arrival". Either way, you would have to travel to that galaxy and planet the way you would any other mission in the game.

I imagine it's the same as Overlord, you get a message from someone on your terminal and then a new sector is available to travel to and the galaxy has an arrow to it that says "The Arrival."

One of these days I'll pick it up, I hope that it is on sale sometime between now and ME3.

I would wait for a sale on it. The problem is I feel that it can have a big impact on ME3, but at the same time it's not that long.
