Mass Effect 3 Discussion Thread
Yeah, shipping it back to Gamefly today. It was actually pretty damned good; fixed everything I hated about the first.

I'll try to be on more this week. Could use some good packs. I got nothing but repeat character cards this weekend.

You mess with the Saber? I hear good things.
The Saber is a beast but with being such it has a slow reload and fairly heavy amount of weight to offset its strengths (damage, accuracy).

you got nothing but character cards because you practically X'd all the rare wpns already.

Saber is a beast, but on gold when the pressure is on a sniper rifle just seems like a better wpn to go with. I'm guessing the saber V+ is where you start to see a difference in performance but at II, it's just too hvy and slow to reload. it's possible the beauty_soldier's bonuses might make it more usable.

Saber was the 1st N7 unlock I got, I read the reviews on it and tried it out. It pretty much one shot everything on bronze unless I hit a centurion in the arm then it was 1 shot + tech or biotic. the recoil on it is like the widow if not worse and when you miss you feel like reloading it is on a long cool down. it looks cool, hits hard, and w/the right spec very effective...but I'd rather a mantis X.

rock dat kishock
rock dat kishock
my favorite sniper rifle for every class except infiltrator. did they patch it yet? also did they stealth nerf energy drain? I've noticed you don't always get 100% shields restored? my guess was vs lower end geth have a much slammer energy pool to drain.

oddly enough, the kishock is more like a omni javelin...

I need to mess with the Kishock more. Just to keep shit fresh, if nothing else. I've definitely settled into a pool of classes that I play best with. Must...shake...it up...!

Maybe I'll actually try the human vanguard out. I've never ever played as it. Feel like I'm missing out on the Nova shenanigans.

I checked, and I actually do have every rare at X; all the mods too. SOMEHOW, I only have two uncommons maxed out though. No clue how the shit that works.

play human sentinel with explosion armor, that's fun too

funny...humans get a bad rap in ME3 MP. they're actually all viable, human vanguard is pretty nasty. i've seen them able to tank atlas and primes better than the others (pre-krogan). BC/Nova nonsense is a lot of fun. You really don't need more than a pistol.

We should see if we can beat gold using nothing but Shockwave. Me and some dudes already beat one (count 'em, ONE!) wave of gold using nothing but Pull with Drell Adepts. Even took a Brute down somehow!

Edit: I also find that most humans are legit. Sentinel, Engineer, and Vanguard would be at the top of my list, probably. Human Sentinels seem like better Human Adepts, which is unfortunate for the latter. I've seen several break 130k just biotic blasting everything. It's a shame Singularity isn't better in the MP.

I've done the nothing but Throw/Gold wave(s). Very entertaining.

Yeah, Human Sentinal is a self sufficient biotic explosion machine. Turian Sent can do the tech bursts as well which I wasn't aware of.

You're thinking like Jelks, Singularity just isn't optimized for Gold runs. It has it place, it just takes a bit more to make it happen. It otherwise works great on bronze and silver. Combine that with the incisor rifle and you're bound to be video worthy.
It has it place,
It does. Single player. ;)

But yeah, the Turian Sentinel is pretty slept on, I think. If there's a solid team dynamic, he blows up Biotics and Tech all day. Hook him up with a nice AR and that racial stability and you've got a monster on your hands.

we generally get our victory packs by tuesday right?

i know they have an expiration date on them, I may not be able to have access to XBL for a few days.

I don't know how viable my Geth Engineer would be for a Gold run, since I'm sure I screwed up his leveling and now I can't re-assess its powers.

Also, this past weekend's Expensive Pack was bullshit. You were better off getting 6 Common Packs than the one for the same price plus some change left over.

Yeah, usually Tuesday evening. I check around 8-9 and I'm EST. Pretty sure there's a solid week on picking em up though.

I just started using the Infiltrator class a lot more, it's a lot more being a team player and grabbing objectives. But I like the change of pace that it offers... Gold medal in revives every game I play that class now... used to be the other way around.

BTW I noticed that every map on MP is somehow implemented in the SP on some silly mission, is this the case for Hydra and Condor as well?

I don't remember Hydra being in SP but it might just be another part of a planet you visited. Condor looks like one of the missions you do for the turians but I don't think it's the actual moon you're on. Im sure someone can check the wiki.

I mainly like the infiltrator because you can cloak.

My friends and I beat 5 waves of gold doing nothing but exploding our tech armors . Try it, it's fun. Constant phantom staggering included.
in4this. Sounds amazing.
It's what that gif you posted reminded me of haha. Explode armor, heavy melee to the face!

Lol that does sound fun, sadly I've only beaten gold a handful of times and that's after using all my equipment and playing hard as hell... I might need practice

I could use a massage right now. I've lost count of how many teams I've carried today using some of the worst classes I could possibly think of. Last game gave me a taste for soloing though so at least I have something new to do for a while, but my overall interest in the game is definitely on life support.

when I'm running single digit characters on bronze, I still see ppl level 17 - 20 in the lobbies. sometimes even leaders...granted that's great when I'm trying to get my newly promoted cadet out of boot camp but even 20's on silver you can pwn like a boss. saddest part is, I've seen a lot of them fail because they get too cocky...and bronze they don't hesitate to stomp your head when you go down like a $50 hooker.

I bailed out of a lvl 20 lobby doing FWG...one of the infiltrators was using an incisor I. Probably the right move.

I see Infiltrators using the Vindicator. I don't believe for a minute that Infiltrators should be using anything other than a Shotgun or Sniper Rifle.

Believe me, that was definitely the right move.

@ gotdott - lvl 3 equipment makes a huge difference, esp when everyone uses it. entertaining and informative vid nonetheless.

plus the revenant rocks...it always has. stabilzation mod ftw...i'll be happy to use it when in a group with 3 other CAG's not a scrub random party. Especially since I have maybe 2 of them atm.

Yea, I was speaking generally. A really good player can make almost any weapon work. But randoms that don't have a lick of common sense? Stick with the basics, kid.

Exceptions to the rule don't count.

of course this works both ways...a sucky sniper is a sucky sniper. I'd rather they have something as idiot proof as an AR that burst fires. At least coming out of cloak there's 33% chance 1 of those 3 bullets will hit their mark.
True. Or a Falcon/Striker. That'd be good too. Not very idiot proof, but decent AoE.
somehow i see a crappy infiltrator using either wpn just getting aggro and dying a lot...better off limiting the ppl that need more training the engineer class that auto summons a drone/sentry. At least the AI can contribute 100% of the time it's in range.

esp using stabilization module III lol geez, besides having all the ammo bonuses too.

anyone try this out yet?
That's cool. Both Dragon Age games had similar things where you could look at your characters, equipment, and progress online. I had wondered why they hadn't implemented something similar for Mass Effect. It still would be cool if they did something where you could see your Shepard's stats and equipment online.

I wish I checked this thread sooner. My friends and I suck hardcore at Gold. Didn't beat it this weekend. Kinda don't know what I'm doing most of the time. I play best with my Quarian Engineer but was trying a Geth Engineer cause that's what everyone seems to use on gold.

Also, I was pumped I solo'd bronze, Quarian Engineer, Fire Base Giant, Reapers. Then I look around online and see people do it on gold

I go to me3multiplayer.com to for builds but any place for good tips? I have crap for weapons and don't know if I'm wasting my time buying spectre packs or spend less??

For the Hell of it, here I am:

What are the dashes under the characters for? I get the weapons but not characters.

I'm just standing by my motto that anything is viable, just that some things will take more patience/effort :D. I think a bunch of those times you played reactor with us I was switching between the Geth "water gun" and Vindicator to try them out. Whenever my friend ducor and I play now we kind of just tune out the randoms and do our own thing, things turn out better that way.

Also if you end up grabbing BF3, feel free to hit us up for that too

Customization unlocks, like skin color, pattern color etc.

I looked at your unlocks and I would recommend buying recruit and then veteran packs to unlock and X out all your commons and uncommons before moving onto spectre packs, it'll go much faster :D.

Thanks for the tip. You recommend a few recruits then veterans? I'll be all over this tonight. I think my problem (and my friends) are we would try for spectre packs to get the rares and skip the easier to get ones.

Also, I notice you have just recently played Battlefield 3. I picked that up today just to get the MP character for ME3. How do I go about unlocking it? I'm reading I gotta beat a demo or just play B3 and it'll unlock or it's over and can't be unlocked.

Not sure but I think it's all tied to your EA account, if you have played both games it should unlock.

And as for the packs, the problem is the uncommons will be littered in with the rares and you are spending 60k rather than 20k. What I did was I bought recruit packs until I was consistently getting character cards instead and then moved on to veteran and then to spectre packs.

of course, the fact that you can mix it up is keeping this game fresh for me. aside from the the salarian/engine and turian/soldier I've been maxing out only 1 or 2 powers and the rest have ranks here and there. Once you're on gold some powers are better as utility than trying to max out damage...esp when you have a rifle.

I noticed, the reactor runs were fun. I'm enjoying splatting phantom heads w/the beauty_soldier...I also did get BF3, not that much of a difference subsituting carnage of c_shot but the battlefield soldier does look cool on the condor in the inside base one.

I'm down for BF3, I honestly need to get my FPS chops backs. I used to play a tone of MW2 and Halo. Gears 3 and ME3 MP has messed me up a bit.

Put the disc in, select redeem code, put in the code. It'll unlock the ME3 dog tags for you...then swap discs, hit MP, go to the store, and there should be a battlefield pack waiting for you. The BF3 soldier and few equipments. tbh, the BF3 ME3 soldier ain't much different from the standard human except you have a unqiue skin that you can't change, you have carnage instead of c_shot, and there's probably some kid that's very jelly of you.

I do like carnage though with the knock down spec'd.

Moving from Recruit -> Veteran -> Spectre packs should eliminate the common/uncommon fluff you may/may not want. Once you get as many weapons as you believe you can from Recruit/Veteran packs, you should see somewhat more Rares from the Spectre pack. Or at least prevent the common/uncommon stuff from taking up a spot in the pack.

Also I need a girlfriend wearing these ;)

being an artist, i'm big on hands and faces...her right hand looks like she's the reason why we got victory packs this week. beauty punching phantoms. s/he spec'd melee...look at her bicep.

sorry...being around a lot of ghetto fabulous booty i can't really rate dat @$$ high...even though she has an N7/ on it. normally tights are very forgiving, perhaps I'm just spoiled.

plus, without some age recognition (usually in the face) it's hard to give an honest prop on a potentially under aged pixie.

I do like the tights though.
