Mass Effect 3 Discussion Thread
XP - Yeah... I remember those KOTH games in pubs were f*cking brutal. We did EVERYTHING we possibly could to win with no back up because none of them knew how to rush properly. Not even that... they simply had no clue WHEN to do it then gave up midway through the match forcing us to clutch. It was a nightmare and once host switched teams it became a lost cause. As much as I still love Gears for what it used to be I'm glad I don't play it anymore. Too much bullshit and too much effort required to win. Let alone have a good time.
Why I enjoy cooperative multiplayer much more than competitive. Competitive just seems to bring out the worst in people. Sure, you get those kinds of people with cooperative too (some idiot afks for the match, blocks the sniper, gets irritated you got more points than they did, etc.), but it happens less. Maybe a lot less. It's also why I liked to play Horde mode in Gears. With friends.

Also, I can never go back to the crappy new Lancer after having a taste of the old Retro Lancer.

How hard is the difficulty leap from silver to gold? I just started playing silver last weekend (I didn't start playing MP until mid-April) and while I have some good games where I'm doing a good job clearing waves, taking objectives, and staying up the entire match, I also have some bad ones where I'm dead last in points by a good margin and feel like I'm getting flanked and downed all game. I had the same thing happen in bronze though before I went from bronze to silver (going from carrying everyone one game to being carried the next), so I'm not sure if its my problem, a problem with my teammates, a mix of both, or I just happen to be a boss and bullet magnet some games.

I usually play an Asari Justicar Adept, but I've been playing more Quarian/Salarian Engineer and Turian Sentinel recently to get some class variety for gold (I'm not liking that the Turian has no evasive roll though). I have all of my basic weapons at VII to X and I've been chain buying 20k packs to try and get some of the uncommons to a decent level, mainly a Phalanx to replace my Predator. I'm kind of getting tired of burning through all of my Predator ammo trying to take down an Atlas/Banshee/Prime/Brute, then having to whip out my Shuriken and pepper the boss with pinpricks until someone else finally kills it.
I'm not even going to bother trying for the gold extraction this week. I've only played on gold one time and it was a trainwreck.
Just join some CAGs and it'll be a smooth ride..more or less ;)

The leap from Silver to Gold is substantial enough to be prepared, but nowhere near high enough to be afraid of it. There are simply a higher number of high risk threats on screen at once than anything else. Make no mistake any player can handle Gold if they're careful and have proper back up. The most important factor aside from choosing a class that's most effective against the enemy type is having a competent team who can at the very least take orders, react reasonably to threats and won't do anything stupid to put the rest of you at risk e.g. NovaGuard chargin' it up on the other side of the map with a Sniper like a dumb ass.

Whitebase/Geth is honestly the easiest transition into Gold since the set up is one huge security blanket. You simply camp together in a secure location on the map that manipulates the enemy spawn points so they have to come to you from two highly visible locations. You'll also have quite a few options at your disposal via class abilities to help control the flow of battle to ensure you aren't overrun and to handle various objectives. When done correctly very rarely is there a catastrophe that a well placed missile can't fix.

If anyone is interested in running a few later this week to get the hang of it then send me a friend request. I'll be more than happy to help ease you into it. It's honestly much easier than it seems and you'll quickly realize just how much preparation/teamwork goes a long way in deciding whether or not you'll complete a game. One of the main reasons Gold games in public are the WORST possible way to delve into it.

I'm loving the Geth Infiltrator's melee. Its extremely satisfying to cloak into the middle of 3-4 enemies and kill them all with one attack. Sad thing is I got up to level 19 before I even realized I had a shotgun attachment that boosted my melee 17%.

Thanks for the info. I'll take you up on your offer to play a few gold matches this weekend, as I share the same sentiments and apprehension about playing with three random people from the start on gold (unfortunately, none of my friends play ME3 on the 360).

Oh man. Sometimes these randoms make me laugh and cry at the same time. Three of them couldn't handle two Geth Primes, a couple of pyros, and some cannon fodder without two rockets and multiple downs. On Silver. And the other Infiltrator was using only an AR. The Phaeston.

Just...speechless.

Insanity/Unwavering run update
I made it to Earth. Still have over 4K war assets and didn't do a single fetch quest. Kai Leng was a bitch, but once I saw the pattern, it wasn't too bad. 25/27 down, just gotta get past a shit ton of Reaper waves and i'm at 100% achievements!

I'm in too, if you're interested. I can hold me own and don't care about points, just doing whatever I need to help the team. I'm best with the engineer class.

Nice. Almost there!

Did the recent patch fix the face importer for anyone here? I had no luck which leaves a sore spot for me. I had a Sheppard carry over from ME1/ME2 and tried multiple times and it still doesn't work. I've looked into the gibbed editor thing, but Modio's site was down yesterday. It's a lot of work to manually do it which we shouldnt have to since it was advertised the face would carry over.
uhh, damn
Yeah that was one heck of a fan tribute, very nice. :applause:
Hehe I like how it ends with ME1 footage.

G33 & Dopa - Sent FR to both of you. My Weekends are usually locked in due to work so I'll only be on between early mornings till 3 pm and after midnight (EST). Since these events always start on Fridays that's when I usually make a few runs so let me know when you two are available.
Haha wha? why?
Your previous post broke the thread when you quoted the YouTube window in it.

Removed it, fixed the issue. ;)

Oh, hahaha... yeah forgot. :whistle2:#

I just got kicked from a bronze match for not having a mic by a guy using a Geth Infiltrator, wielding a shuriken as his lone weapon, because he wanted to credit glitch it. Even more amusing to me is that someone else in that room also didn't have a mic, but he did vote to kick me after he saw the host try to kick him, but failed (I guess that guy doesn't understand basic logic). To that, all I can say is, to each his own.

Could be. I need to get around to changing my XBL name.
Tricia Helfer says she's going to record new EDI dialog starting next week.

Spark of hope for the Extended Cut. Still keeping my expectations in check, though.
Spy, my man, that is the post of the day. Ha!
robo moose knuckle for the win!
Wow. I figured it would just be Meer/Hale doing voiceover for this. Bringing squadmate actors back in for a DLC seems like a pretty big deal. I wonder if they're pulling in anyone else.
The other possibility is that it could just be
EDI doing a narration of the "aftermath"
.

Set up all my characters with different builds ready for this weekend, Hooah!

I hope not, as Bioware certainly received enough negative feedback about the current ME3 ending that I'd assume they will put decent effort into their extended cut.

Although, it makes me wonder which ending will be used as the true ending, since
EDI being alive means that it shouldn't be destroy/renegade, which I believe was assumed to be the true ending (I picked control/paragon, so I didn't see it myself)
.
...

Moose knuckle is for guys, chub. The terms ain't interchangeable.
I've never once heard it used in reference to guys...

1. moose knuckle 1317 up, 1037 down
The male version of a cameltoe. Usually found on older rotund gentlemen wearing a suit.
That guy in the business meeting was so big, his moose knuckle was sticking out of his front of his pants and it looked like a fanny pack gone wrong.

Point 1 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HExOCl3YypM

Point 1.5 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fzHqQbz78-s

Point 2 - The Krogan Battlemaster is an atomic boatload of killing WIN. I named mine Kill because that is what he does all day, everyday, and twice on Sunday. Then again after dinner on Sunday night.

Point 3 - EDI doing voice work leads me to believe that the extended cut will give her a narrative over an ending, but the idea that she would not be around if
the "real" destroy ending is used is still not viable as Shepard should have been destroyed too according to Starchild. And wasn't.

On a completely unrelated note on Jessica Chobot being in it.. anyone else think this game could have used some Stan Lee in it instead... minus the romance option.. or perhaps with it?

First - Freemason: Spoilers...

Second - G33: BioWare said it would be "clarification". A narration would fit that bill easily. It sure as hell wouldn't be enough in the slightest, but it would fulfill the role they need.

A friend of mine just started to play it but I made it a point to spoil it for him because he was being a dick on St. Patrick's Day. I say give it 3 months and to me spoilers can go away. However by then the Extended Cut might be out.

I freaking LOVE those minerals! Best parody song ever, IMO. He had me at "skeezy ho"

And.....use spoiler tags for at least a year. I made that mistake in the dragon age forum a while back with a very minor thing and got politely corrected.

Also....my perverted sense of humor having self got an education today courtesy of the Crotch. Thank you, sir! ;0)

Personally, I am sick and tired of the "watch out for spoilers stuff". I could understand doing that in thread titles but in discussions?

Honestly people, it's the internet...everyone should know by now that if your'e interested in maintaining a spoiler-free game, you AVOID forums and topics of discussion regarding said game. If you want to visit forums about the game, visit bioware's specific forums for non-spoiler talk. Otherwise, expect all forums to have spoilers at large cuz the majority of people are discussing AFTER beating the game.

If someone has the game spoiled because they are on forums and threads specifically about discussing the game, that's their own damn fault for not practicing common sense or self restraint.....

I thoroughly disagree. Some people here have been wrapped up in multi, some have questions, some just like talking to their friends about one of their favorite franchises.

It's just as easy for you to
use spoiler tags
as it is for them to stay off of the boards. You should show more respect for your fellow gamers by taking a second to press the preset button that handles the tags for you. If it's too much work, maybe it's you that should just stay off of the forums.

The spoiler issue is a community driven thing. In this community, we value people being polite and respectful. Part of that is realizing that there are many people that can't bust right through a game, but still want to take part in the conversation. Spoiler tags allow us to do that. So be part of this community....or don't. In short,
use spoiler tags, jackasses!
;)
