Mass Effect on PS3 looking more and more suspect?
I thought everyone who only had a PS3 hated Mass Effect anyway...
nah most of us dont give a shit. me personally the one game im jealous of xbox owners getting is dead rising 1 and since were getting the sequel i guess its all good although id like to play the first one. oh yeah and i was kinda jealous of them getting a new banjo kazooie game until i found out how shitty it was.

considering they didn't release the first one on ps3 its not going to happen, not everyone has both consoles and its a harder sell trying to get people to buy the second game if they havent played the first. Now if they do a two game bundle on one blu ray I'm sold o_o

but seriously who at Microsoft has time to dumb down the graphics of mass effect 2.

Since there is a new Mass Effect SKU coming in the next fiscal (April 10 - March 11), I wonder if there is any chance it is PS3 related. This was announced on their investor conference call today. They said it would be "far reaching."

"Both Dragon Age and Mass Effect are referenced in the FY11 SKU plan. That's all I can tell you for now." - EA spokesperson Jeff Brown

If MS decides to release ME2 on PS3 sometime in the next fiscal (April 10th -March 11th) does that mean that they need to add new content to the game? (i.e. Ninja Gaiden Sigma) When a game is exclusive, for 360 and then is released on PS3, the game that's being made for PS3 can't be the same exact game that was on the 360; It has to have additional content.

But this is EA we're talking about... they want profit. Looking at the sales of Mass Effect from VGChartz, shows that the game didn't sale very well in Japan. Releasing the game on PS3 in the US and Japan can give the game a boost in sales that I think might be profitable. Also, I know that EA would love for this game to do as well as FFXIII. According to VGchartz, FFXIII is at 1.88 million, and that's just Japan on one console. ME2 is at just under a million in sales as of today. Everyone agrees that this game is great, and I think that it should be given an opportunity to put up numbers similar to FFXIII. But imo if it doesn't go multiplatform, its not going to have that chance. If I can figure that out, then i know that EA has thought about it, so hopefully we'll see the game on PS3. Just looking at the numbers I think that its a worthwhile endeavor.

I thought you were all smarter then this *Sigh* new sku = GOTY or added dlc, come on now, with the AAA actors and money they spent making it they are only getting ready for Christmas with a GOTY BS deal.

These kind of things are rarely mentioned on investor calls. Investors don't get pumped for a re-release of an existing product. But since you are so smart... you must have already known that.

Also, I don't see a GOTY edition being labeled as "far reaching." It is possible it is a disc based expansion like DA Awakening. It is possible it is a lot of things.... but GOTY edition is not really one of those.

If they don't take the time to get the game running and looking just as good or better than the 360 version, I'd rather them not even bother.

I've been tempted to get it on PC, but I don't think I can sit in my office and play games on a small monitor. And also, I don't know what the system requirements are for PC, but I'm sure I'd need to upgrade (which would be a complete waste of money).

But if EA does bring it over to the PS3, it would be sweet. I'd be nice to have both games on 1 Blu-ray + all the DLC included.

Don't ever use statistics from VGChartz. You can google as to reasons why.

I keep saying this. mass Effect 2 cannot come to the PS3 without the first mass Effect game being ported over as well.

Also, I'm just fine with it being on PC. The spec aren't too demanding so most people should be able to enjoy it.

Although... I trilogy box set of mass Effect 1-4 loaded with extras all on Blu-ray availabe on the release day of mass Effect 3 would be nice.

If ME does make its way to the PS3, I think they'll use a similar strategy to what Sony is doing with the God of War Collection. Bundle ME1 and ME2 on a single BD and release it at least 6 months before ME3.
Braid was also published by MS for 360. EA and BioWare have confirmed they retain all rights to even the first title.
While they may have the rights to the games and the IP, I imagine that Microsoft and Bioware signed an exclusivity deal for the trilogy, and just because EA bought Bioware doesn't mean that they can just break that contract.
While I'm sure EA could pay Microsoft to void the contract and allow them to release Mass Effect on the PS3, it would have to be worth the cost of voiding the contract plus the PS3 development costs.
Not to say it's not going to happen, but it may not be worth the cost to EA and Bioware to release the game on the PS3.

Maybe...... they could combine both adventures, and just call it the Mass Effect Saga, where it becomes just one big game. (but still allowing you skip part 1... ). That's a lot of content for one disc... how much would EA charge for that?

Yeah. The details of this remain fuzzy and are obviously the biggest hurdle to it coming elsewhere.
MGS4 is coming out this fall for the 360? Lol!
Not this fall. It's coming out on Feb. 29th along with Mass Effect PS3.

Guys, you got Bioshock 2 because Bioshock 1 came out on the PS3. If we use that logic, you will never get Mass Effect 2 because Mass Effect 1 never came out on your system.

Thing about trilogy games is you typically don't get jumped into it in the middle.

Yeah.... I think it is pretty much assumed by most with thinking capability if Mass Effect doesn't come over, PS3 won't get ME2. I love the logic... despite everyone stating this already. The title of the thread even... not ME2... just ME. In other news, the sky is blue.

I can't see them bringing a $60 ME over at this point (as mentioned, unless some major retooling is done)... also hence why a lot of people speculate a package with both of them. Maybe nothing will happen with it on PS3. Which seems as likely as anything.

I'd love Mass Effect to remain exclusive to 360.
