Nice! I usually don't bother hunting for guides, but I might as well see if I can pick up Tales and Killer 7 when I'm over there tonight.
 
I'll be there tonight picking up GTA PSP so I'll keep any eye out for those guides. Thanks for the tip.
 
i'm still perplexed as to how these guides are only a penny... this is buggin' me. do they ring up as 0.01 cent?

do all stores do this?

basically stores like ToysRUs,BB,EBGames and Gamestop penny out guides to make room for the newer guides that are coming out. Since they don't pay too much to get the guides, they can take the loss to make more room for guides that can make them money. However when a guide becomes a penny, most stores are suppose to remove them and destroy them.
 
I went in to pick up my resident evil 4 for PS2, and I got a ton of these. I got a bunch of guides and 2 copies of the Matrix Online. :D They didnt even charge a penny for each one, they just gave them to me without me even knowing about the deal. My local EB games rocks.

I went today and my manager said "take what you want, im throwin them all in the trash", I said "cool, I'll take em all then". He told me to come pick them back up tonight. :)

Thanks Tenzor, my first penny guide, and it was free. Killer 7 for me. No Tales at the one EB, and the other EB, where the guy doesn't like his job... yeah, I saw him leave the store as I was driving up, and sure enough, the door was locked. Good times.
 
my manager destroys all the guides and won't let anyone, not even us, take a couple home. i figure i might as well not even try..
 
Xenosaga II wasnt pennied out at the eb games over here. But I did manage to get coded arms, metal gear acid, matrix online guide and game, all for a grand total of free since the guys at eb like me. I also bought LCS which is amazing so far. Thanks again OP.

Btw is that Half life 2 guide that is pennied out?? Kinda confused on that...

I don't quite understand the logic behind that, seems reasonable that if you give your good customers a few free guides it builds up a better customer base and happier clientele.
 
I have 2 spare copies of Matrix Online that I was able to grab. I'd like to trade for one o those Advance Wars 2 from the KB Toys sale, but they're up for grabs.
 
Managed to find about 2/3 of the guides in this list. Since they're not supposed to sell them, they said it was better to just give them to me and then claim they destroyed them than to actually ring them up. Works for me!

The Street Fighter Anniversary guide was missing the soundtrack though. Oh well, can't complain when it's free.
 
Awsome, I gotta go check this out tomorow. Guide I really want is the Metal Gear Acid one.

Thanks for the heads up I picked up afew guides today. Even found afew old penny guide from january! If only I could have found Tales of Symphonia & Shadow Hearts I was told at two stores that they were tossed yesterday :( But I really can't complain.
 
I've never noticed penny guides at any store near me. Do the guides have the $.01 on the price tag, or do I have to have someone ring them up first?

When they go to .01 they are removed from shelves and trashed usually, "pennied out" is a nicer way of saying "this shit don't sell throw it away".
