FYI - BEWARE !!

Went to the Ann Arbor, MI store today and every single 8.99 game had been repriced back to it's original price !

The store is closing and all game software was a whopping 10% off the original stickered price. NOTHING was 8.99 !

This is an enormous amount of suck as I was about to save a bunch of money on some x-mas presents

Media Play / Sam Goody - Sale Game List

FYI - There have been posts of some Sam Goody stores not having a lot of these games marked as clearance and 1 such report at 1 Media Play location so far. It has been recommended to take them to the register as a sale and not to a price checker station to get the actual price.

This thread has apparently been merged with Video-Gamer's thread about the Sam Goody sale. Props to him for letting us know about that one and to all others who have contributed to this list. But remember, it's not about the cred, it's about the cheap games!

Someone mentioned that any 19.99 game was now 8.99. This isn't true as far as I know. The signs are marked "selected" titles previously 19.99 and below. There were plenty of new release games in the regular game aisle at full price. These 8.99 games were on a seperate rack in the center of the store

Anybody see anything else and care to add to this list? just post and I'll update.
Any errors? Please let me know do I can correct them.

Hmm... Brothers in Arms would be worth the trip, since I'm five minutes from a Media Play.
 
I just got back.. here's what I got:

Brothers in Arms: Road to Hill 30
Brothers in Arms: Earned in Blood*
Tales of Symphonia
Jade Empire: Limited Edition**
Shadow Hearts 1!!!!

*The funny thing about this is that it was a display copy, and he put the Earned in Blood in the case. I didn't realize it until I got outside.

**Jade Empire LE was in their 8.99 bin, but rang up as 19.99. She adjusted the price, saying that it was supposed to be 8.99. So definately YMMV on that one

They also had Toe Jam and Earl III.. but it was coming up 49.99. Fable non GH was in there as well, but I passed on it wanting the new Lost Chapters.

Advance Wars II and Klonoa for GBA were 8.99, but I passed on it. Definately some good stuff... if I wasn't strapped for cash and holding out for the Black Friday stuff, I would've blown more dough.

Awesome price on Midway Arcade Treasures 3, I might pick that up instead of hoping to find it for less since $9 is great for a new release game (even if it only came out at $20)
 
Jesus, I didn't even think about the GBA games when I was there.

Can somebody verify that Sam Goody is the same as Media Play and the titles are the same at both stores? I'd kinda like to steal some from the Sam goody thread to make a master list but I'm not sure if this is the case. I've never heard of Sam Goody before.

I know man.. I'm debating on keeping it or going to trade it in for credit towards Capcom Collections, Fable Lost Chapters, or maybe even Half Life 2. Can't decide.. I'm probably going to sell Shadow Hearts on Ebay to recoupe my dough from tonight and go buy the other copy that they have that's a display.

Feel free to add Astro Boy to the GBA list. YMMV greatly on that one though since I haven't found too many Sam Goody or Media Play locations before that had them save for this local one but good luck! Fantastic price for a top-notch Treasure title.

No, but this is the only list so far. I started this thread as a Media Play one before knowing that MP and Sam Goody were basically the same store.

I started that one in the regional forum becuase I didn't know that Media Play was national, or that it was part of a Sam Goody Chain. My sister told me it was a national chain, so I thought I'd repost it in the deals forum. There is compelling reason to merge this with the other Sam Goody thread, though.

Wow, some very good stuff there. I think I'm gonna pick up some Xbox games. I live real close to the MP on Eureka road, so I should be able to get a lot of the games I want. Here's what I plan on getting:

When I went in yesterday, I left with 7 games, I could have easily left with 10+... But with the blackhole that suddenly appeared in my wallet, I knew some of 'em could wait. :)
 
At the Sam Goody I went to Midway 3 and Fable were in the $19.99 bin and Midnight Club 3 and Demon Stone hadn't been reduced at all.

Just my impression, but I'm guessing this is a clearance, probably to make room for XB360 stuff and more popular items in time for Xmas. All of the $8.99 games had been removed from the regular racks and placed in separate racks in the aisles (this is a MediaPlay). Can't imagine they'd do that unless they were making room and this is a clearance.

Kickass sale. Found lots of great stuff today.

Astro Boy is just a good game. It's made by Treasure and plays alot like Gunstar Super Heros. I personally think it's better than Gunstar Super Heros. Can't help you with Midway Arcade Treasures 3 i'm more intrested in the second one

The worker there said that gift returns can be until January 30th (it says 30 days on the reciept though) so depending on that I'll keep a few of these sealed just in case a better deal comes along in the future. It always helps to be able to return things just in case of more price drops!

I'm already thinking about returning PS2 Viewtiful Joe & PS2 Viewtiful Joe 2...Not the best deals in my opinion

whoa, whoa....calm down, KimoNoobie, it's not like you slept with an exec at SG to get this info...did you?

There were about 3 different threads mentioning the same sale, but no one realized the threads were all for the same sale until putting 1+1+1 together. No one actually stole your OP, they were just bottlenecked/re-routed into the best one (the one with the actual list of games and an OP who keeps up with the list).

Musicland (?), Sam Goody, Media Play, and Suncoast are all under the same corporation, so this clearance sale applies to all of them. (No, Suncoast doesn't sell games).

This happens a lot of the time with GameRush and stand-alone Blockbusters too, since they're rarely located together in the same state.
 
He did say it started as a regional post, so he probably didn't even see your thead here in the main forum. It's only 1 thread and you already had plenty of thanks from others (including myself) in that thread. Anyways, thanks to both of you for sharing this info.
 
Add harry potter and the prisoner of azkaban gba, just purchased it for 8.99 (along with boktai 2 and tron killer app).
