Globulation 2

Real Time Strategy
Single Player - Yes
Multiplayer - Yes

Theme: Fantasy

What is Globulation 2?

Globulation 2, or Glob2 for short, is a Real-Time Strategy [RTS] game which aims to minimize micro-management by automatically assigning tasks to units. The player chooses the number of units he wants to assign to various tasks and the units will do their best to satisfy the requests. This allows the user to focus on strategies rather than managing individual units.

It can be played by a single player, through your Local Area Network [LAN], or through the Internet thanks to Ysagoon Online Game [YOG]. It also features Artificial Intelligence for playing against computer teams, a scripting language for versatile gameplay or tutorials and an integrated map editor.

What are the objectives of a game in Glob2?

The objective is to wipe out your opponents' populations. This can be done by attacking and killing the enemy units, by converting them to your team if you can offer a greater comfort, or by starving them to death if you destroy their resources. To be stronger than your opponent you must first create a lot of new globules while taking care about them to survive. Have a look at the PlayGuide for more details about how to play the game.

Is there a minimum age to play?

The game may not be playable by some because of its complexity, but no specific age is targeted. Despite of the war oriented objectives, the game is not meant to be violent and compared to other real-time strategy games, it is much more amusing. In fact the units are abstract X-shaped globules and there are no violent images, sounds or texts - even when units get attacked or when they disappear.

irrlamb is a free game where the player has to control a ball in a full 3D terrain. This game was created by Alan Witkowski using the Irrlicht Engine.

Lost Hero - Story of Gilgamesh

RPG
Single Player - Yes

Theme: Fantasy

Welcome traveler.....

Do you remember these old golden days of D&D games? Dungeon Master, Eye of the Beholder, Wizardry, Land of Lore and others? I do. And I must say that I enjoyed these games. It wasn't about mega-super-3D-engines with 70fps-frame-rates, but it was mainly about atmosphere, it was hard to get through and there was great ideas behind. And that's the point of this project. To create game system where some people can create D&D games and other people can play them.

We don't use D&D or AD&D rules, because we think that these are game rules more for desk games. Computers can handle more complicated and more dynamic game system. Our game system was born from WizardryVII, what is, by our meanings, The Game - simply the best.

We have choosen Java as programming platform, to program it once and run it everywhere. It means that LostHero is now running on Windows 95,98,ME,2000,XP and on Linux with X-Windows.

Lost hero now has:
- support for running individual games
- pseudo 3D game engine (smooth moving like in Lands of Lore I, not jumping from square to square)
- own language, which is used in dungeons, for spells, NPC, etc.
- dynamic system of parameters, what means that it's very easy to add new game rules and it keeps old game saves
- multi-language support
- editor to create own games

Megazell's Comment - Here is the original site for these makers - http://losthero.sourceforge.net/. The primary link leads to their development page at SourceForge. Which seems to be getting update more often.

The Fabulous Screech

Theme: Fantasy
Theme: Drama

This very short game has a peculiar background. A few months ago I was approached by someone called Angie to create a present for her boyfriend, Matt. Money being short, this was to be a combined Christmas, Valentine’s Day and anniversary present. He was a fan of my games, especially the ones set in the Lands of Dream, so this could be a really special gift for him. Now, this isn’t how I normally work, and there were other things I was supposed to be working on, but how can you say no to being part of something so sweet? So I said yes. I thought a bit about what sort of game to make, but eventually it became clear to me that I needed to go back to Oddness Standing, the setting of The Book of Living Magic, and make a game about one of the most memorable characters from that town. Strangely enough, it probably ended up being the most personal game I’ve ever made.

Thread Update.

I finally got around to adjusting the Strategy, Sports and Simulation section.

Strategy has the Single Player Only!, Multiplayer Only!, Single Player and Multiplayer! and CO-OP additions to better navigate the games listed.

Sports was broken down into sub genres of popular sports.

The pit of the death of people.

Controls

Move around with the arrows
Move left and right with left and right :)o)
Jump with the up arrow.
Enter is your "action button" - use it to press buttons and stuff.

Other modes

If you have "Collecting mode" turned on, you will need to collect all the crosses before you can proceed to the next level.

"Repetitive music" changes the music to the one from earlier versions of this game.

It's very repetitive, but I like it better than the default for some reason.

You must use your inhuman flying skills to perform cool aerial tricks with a jumbojet and cause the enemies to crash each other. The game is divided to 2 minute levels and each level features more and more enemies! To help you out with this crazy-ish game, you'll get to upgrade your aircraft between stages. The links for this and other games created by the 'Game Creation Society' have been updated. Currently, they are migrating to a new and improved website and are still working on the DL links for the games. The old website still works but requires an additional old. to the URL.

As always the 2nd links work just fine!

Funny you should mention Caesary now Megazell. I just started playing the game like I week ago and I afraid I'm getting slightly hooked. I don't fully understand the game, because it is entirely overly complex with lots of rules and instructions, but it reminds me of the old Ceasar from Sierra from years back and games of its ilk.

I remember playing Ceasar III demo from PC Gamer years ago. It was OK but not my cup of tea. I did like the historical tips/info that was given from time to time.

Right now I am officially addicted to 'Shoot First.' It's a roguelike top down shooter that is just getting me more and more hooked. I plan to donate though I am still fighting my own 'cheapassgamer' nature ;)

Frogatto is an open-source “platformer” or “jump-and-run” videogame. Like in many classic games, the world is viewed as a cross-section seen from the side, and your character (in this case, a small green fellow named Frogatto) walks and jumps between solid platforms, whilst avoiding monsters. We’re not trying to clone any specific game, but we inevitably have a lot in common with other games just by being in the genre. We are trying to innovate a bit.

Frogatto is a finished, fully-playable game. We’re planning to add a bunch of other stuff to it, but we have a complete start-to-finish single-player story you can play right now.

There is also a level editor.
