Hopefully, you'll be in soon. Too busy to play much of these betas. I just make sure they work really before I post them up.

Noting like having some quiet time to play some games. Completed quite a few of the games I recently posted (the ones that can be). Still stuck on 3 games that are kicking my ass - Chak's Temple, Blast Man vs Yellow Skull and Big Building Boom Blues. The rest of the platformers, arcade and actions games have been VANQUISHED! :bouncy:

Pixel Prospector

Pixel is a great guy. He reviews and posted up some very good indie games (not all of which are freeware but I won't hold that against him). Very friendly and very in touch with the pulse of the indie game vibe.

Check out his site - http://www.pixelprospector.com/

He also listed your's truly as a resource in his 'Big List Of Indie Game Sites' list - http://www.pixelprospector.com/indev/2009/12/the-big-list-of-indie-game-sites/

Theme: Science Fiction

Vibrant is a fantastic high speed arena shooter that delivers fast paced action and fresh gameplay with abstract visuals. Swirl around, collect stuff, use your boost and destroy the enemies.

Megazell's Comment - Some spelling errors in some of the in-game text. Outside of that the game is fun and the music is pumping. Reminds me of Joust for the Atari even though it has the familiar formula of traditional arena SHUMPs.

That Sonic game looks 1000 times awesome and better than every Sonic game that has basically come out since the Genesis days. Sega should pull a Google/Youtube and call the guy up and hire him immediately.

Also, if I had more time, then I'd play that free Slavic MMO. It looks like fun.

Also, thanks for the pixelprospecter site. I haven't checked the first post, but you should update it with the site info. Congrats on the pick up! This thread has been fantastic. I've tweeted/emailed/facebooked/ and just shown in to people in general that I know.

Yeah it does.

I played the tutorial...seemed like a lot of fun.

It's on the main page. Pixel has been pushing for me to make my own site. He's given me a lot of resource and I am moving forward with the Wordpress stuff but I need some solid time to devote to it. Right now I am laying down with a movie break, while the ladies on the phone, checking the kids homework for errors, answering IMs, Text and online replies - While thinking about a meeting I have tomorrow for a non-profit group I am helping setup...I need more game time :(

Haven't played the tutorial/tried the game yet.

By the way, I've been trying to remember this one indie game that I played about 2-3, maybe 4, years ago and was thinking maybe you, or someone else who reads this thread, could help me figure out which one it was. It won several awards I remember when it came out, or was nominated at the very least for them, and was very reminiscent of a God game with stick figures and the main gameplay was perched on your characters evolving, or adjusting to different circumstances (I guess kind of like Spore before it was made). I don't know why but I can't remember the title of the game for the life of me, and I think I may have lost it in a formating or computer upgrade at some point. I remember reading SneakyPenguin talk about the game in one of the OTTs, but I doubt that's really any help, when I had more time and could frequent them. I wouldn't mind purchasing/throwing a few bucks at the developers again if I could remember the title.

Also, if you're getting a website set up and would need some help/writers/etc., then I wouldn't mind collaborating/helping you out with it.

To your final, don't we all wish we had more game time.:D;)

Tower of the Sorcerer

RPG
Single Player - Yes
Multiplayer - No
Netbook Friendly

Theme: Fantasy

Tower of the Sorcerer is a puzzle game with some RPG elements.

Story

This story is about saving the princess who was locked in the magic tower, you may have heard such stories before.

But the fact is that that story isn't related to this game at all.

Why?

You will know why when you win the game.

Megazell's Comment - There are 2 version of this game: 2D or 3D. The 3D game comes with a ONE TIME advertisement after you install. Your choice if you go that route. The 2D one is free with ZERO strings attached.

Wow, I guess I shouldn't assume things, as I thought Flyff was already on the list. I used to play this just for kicks many years ago and never really experience any bugs or anything. It was mindless fun pretty much. It was at a time when there weren't as many free MMOs as there are today, nor as many good ones. I guess I should check first, but is Silk Road on the MMO list and is it still free?

If you want a few free games for you list (I haven't check if they are all left out of the list, but the MMO's are), then take a look at http://www.gpotato.com/?m=games. A lot of the games on that site are free to play MMO's, and the others are free to play racers I think (some online racers). I am pretty sure that they are all free to play, last time I checked they were but things might have changed.

Many of their games are on the list.

MMORPGs with this list according to some ppl have been a bane. At times I was asked to post less of them and so I did. Then I get PMs about covering this and that MMORPG and so I do. I try to post up 4 regular games and 1 MMORPG so that the thread/list does not become too one sided.

By all means keep the suggestions and heads up coming. I really like to hear from ppl that actually played the games if possible so that I can go off of that into my overview. I try to make sure all of the games work and are hassle free. A lot of free MMORPGs come with pop-ups and other nonsense and I don't post any of those at all. :)

Fair enough with the not having some of the games on the list.. I am pretty certain that none of the gpotato games come with ads or pop-ups (unless they added them in the last few months..).

I will try to think of some of the free games that I have played and check if they are all on the list already next time.. Lol.

My comment about not getting on the website was concerning hiccupleftovers' suggestion about SilkRoad Online.

I should have been clear.

And yes - Gpotato's games have been spyware and pop-up free since inception. I was only giving a broad example of why some games may not be posted. :) It's all good. :)

Sorry for misunderstanding you. :( I shoulda realised that you could have been talking about both games and not been so quick to assume.

But anyway.. I am not sure which section of your list this game would be under so I haven't really checked to see if it's already there.. but 'Minecraft' has a free version that you can play either single-player or multi-player on their website. (I don't know if you are interested in games that are built in to the website, but this one is deeper than the average site-built-in-game-thing). In the free version you basically explore this HUGE world with the ability to destroy the environment and build some amazing structures.

I know that you don't want to spam your list with games so I totally understand if this in-browser game doesn't make it in, but in my opinion the more the better and I know that there are some other people that love this game, and no harm in making a suggestion right?

I check it out. Recently, the developer of 'Minecraft' wrote a very interesting article about piracy.

http://notch.tumblr.com/post/1121596044/how-piracy-works

I'll check out his 'F2P' game. No harm in suggesting. Hopefully, it's not a demo that leads to a purchase.

The free to play version is quite different from the paid version.. The free one concentrates more on the epic building and exploration as you don't need to work for any of your items. In the paid version you have to mine to get the materials that you need to craft materials so that you can mine for the materials to make the epic structures..

Thanks. I been using them for years. The only warning I will give to anyone that hits that site is that many of their games were not tested on more modern systems and so you can expect to hit a dud from time to time.

2nd warning that I will give is that many of their games are illegal.

ROM

Puzzle
Single Player - Yes

Theme: Other

An arcade-y game with rules that are a little hard to explain (it's easier to just watch the video to understand). You destroy enemies that travel in straight lines across the screen by flipping over diamond shapes from black to white and back again (if an enemy has left a 'trail' on a diamond that you are flipping over, the trail will shoot the enemy). It sounds complicated but it's actually a lot of fun. The music reminds me of an '80s movie for some reason.

Beluga Mk II

Shooter/Platformer
Single Player - Yes

Theme: Science Fiction

Beluga Mk II is a brilliant throwback to a simpler era, when nobody cared that playing games and having seizures were synonyms. With a splash screen that proudly advertises "Four Colors System" and "8-bit Color Computer" in red, blue, and yellow, you know you've got a winner.

The list of things you can do in this game is simply huge, and translating all of the instructions out would be crazy. Generally speaking, though, pretty much everything is controlled by the 'z' key, with your attack changing based on where you are, what button you are pushing, and what direction you are moving. For example, pressing down while on the ground and firing will launch some mortar like bombs, holding the fire button before releasing while in the air produces a block-like returning weapon.

Edward Diego (an executive at TriOptimum Corporation) sees your potential, and is eager to make a deal with you. Naturally, you agree to this offer, and Edward Diego gives you Level 1 access to SHODAN. You receive your neuro implant, and undergo a 6-month healing coma.
