Fix-It Felix Jr.

Theme: Fantasy

Earlier this week, Disney made the brilliant marketing move to release the debut trailer for its upcoming animated featureWreck-it-Ralph, which is filled with tons of video game character cameos and references, during E3. If you liked the trailer, you better prepare yourself for some more Disney awesomeness!

The developers working for Disney’s website have created a real and playable version of Fix it Felix Jr., the game in which the film’s protagonist stars in as the antagonist.

As you’d expect, it’s a Donkey Kong style, 80’s 8-bit inspired arcade game, in which Ralph smashes up an apartment building, as Felix fixes it.

Ralph smash!

In all honesty, the game is a lot of fun and actually provides more of a challenge than I thought it would, as those damn Duck Hunt (at least they look like the ones from Duck Hunt) ducks keep killing me. Seriously, they’re far more dangerous than the rubble barrage that Ralph throws at you.

I'm just trying to fix some windows and then they come flying at me. What did I ever do to them?

I really wouldn’t mind paying to download this onto my 360 or 3DS. Hell, if arcades were still a thing, this’d make for a great cabinet!

After spending about 2 hours playing the game, I can proudly say that my personal best is making it to Level 27 with a high score of 127,800 points.

Can any of you g1s beat that? - Screwattack.com

Spelunky is a roguelike-platformer hybrid made by Derek Yu.

Tastes Like Spelunky is a modified version of Spelunky made by me!

In NO WAY am I taking all the credit here. This is still Derek's game, and 99% of the credit goes to him. But that little 1% makes all the difference!

In this version of the game, you play as a ManTrap. They are the man-eating plants that appeared in the second area of the original game. But you don't just play as one, you also have to live like one. At its core, this game still plays the same as the original, but I've introduced a new mechanic that changes things on a much grander scale.

It's been over 15 years since anybody asked me anything about it, but I still haven't overcome my fear of cartography. The mere mention of equal-area projections still wrecks my nerves and, well, I decided to embark on a self-therapeutic course involving numerous sessions of Super Cartographer. Miraculously it (and the simple fact that I really wont ever have anything to do with map-related calculations) worked! This weird, cartoony, puzzly, limited-visibility-y rogue-like of sorts cured and entertained me and even reminded me a bit of Sabre Wulf, which is always nice. Definitely worth a look. - Indiegames.com

A somewhat nifty little one-button game, Many Paths To The Golden Heart will have you navigating a variety of challenges in order to acquire the much-coveted golden heart. That's pretty much it. With the help of a single cryptic line of text, you're going to have to figure out the best way to get to the heart. Some of the challenges are easy, others will require a bit more finesse (and a half-decent collection of reflexes). Overall, Many Paths To The Golden Heart is a simple, effective diversion with an interesting interpretation of life.

Nitrome's latest icon-sized game is Turnament, a minimalist dungeon crawler in which players are scored based on how many steps they take within each level.

Turnament's turn-based mechanics will be familiar if you're a fan of roguelikes; you'll need to carefully plan out your movements so that you avoid enemies during their attack phases while plotting strikes of your own. Traps and other environmental hazards must also be approached with care, though frequent checkpoints ensure that you'll never become too frustrated with any of the game's challenges. - IndieGames.com

Dead Meets Lead - The Challenge

Third Person Shooter
Single Player - Yes
Multiplayer - No

Theme: Horror

Dead Meets Lead is every bit and piece of what a challenging zombie-slaying action game should be. Enter the role of the 18th century commander who’s on a mission to obliterate evil, by fighting your way through the island of El Mirando. A mystic plague has consumed the inhabitants of this island and you'll have to liberate their souls by sword, and travel deep into the island to find and stop the dark minds behind the cursed disease. You’ll have to act, think and move fast if you want to survive the horrors of these wicked parts of the world. And do not hope for any rescue or help, it’s all up to you and you alone!

From The Developers - We’ve had a great time with Dead Meets Lead, but since we’re shutting down operations (or rather, they’ve been down for a while now) we’d like to do one last thing for the community. Starting from today, we’re making Dead Meets Lead a freeware so that those who haven’t tried the game yet get a chance to play it too. Everyone is free to download and play the game, just use the product key below and go to the download section to get your copy. Hope you’ll have a good time with the Captain and his adventures!

Megazell's Comment - The first link requires you to use Desura's client. It's free.

The second requires a key code that the developers released to the public - 17ad0e29-d567-4455-a7a3-108541e01558

I think this game has more in common with top down shooters more than anything else. So it's not like Dead Island in anyway. Still it's worth a play through especially in the 'The Challenge' version.

1942 is set in the Pacific theater of World War II. The goal is to reach Tokyo and destroy the entire Japanese air fleet. The players have to shoot down enemy planes; to avoid enemy fire, the players can perform a roll or "loop-the-loop". One of the most peculiar things I've seen in a while, Stupidella is one of those point & click 'figure out what to click in order to proceed to the next screen' sort of games. However, there's a bit of twist. Instead of using a saccharine-sweet, Stupidella has a ... somewhat crazy, semi-naked girl. Yes, this one is mildly NSFW. While the tagline suggests that this is the 'true story of Cinderella', I still have no idea what the game has to do with the old tale. Instead of glass slippers and princes, this one has space travel, the Ju-On girl, boxers, rock concerts and more. Nope. Didn't make sense to me either. - IndieGames.com
Hi, can I have games sorted by year? I mean, i need games from 2011 please. Any help would be appreciated..And good job with the posts
I can maybe do that down the line in the future but not anytime immediately.

In the meantime, head to the first post - check out resource section and hit up some of the other websites that highlight freeware and f2p games like IndieGames.com they sort their games by release as does ModDB and IndieDB.

The current feature I'm working on is icons next to each game that indicate which OS they work for like Windows, Linux and Mac. With a possible inclusion of mobile phone icon for many of these are available in that format....this is once I post all of the games in the 'post holder.'

Hello, big fan of what you're doing here. I also want to thank you for posting this glorious amount of games readily available to anyone with promotion of the lesser known and indie developers.

I noticed you have some games listed as top picks and tried out a lot of them, while the non-top pick listed games are playable, they don't meet my standards with the other F2P games available if you know what I mean. Anyways your top pick choices are very good and are games I would actually play myself.

I have but one humble request/query: Is there a convenient compilation of all the games you place under your top picks and if not could you please categorise it similarly to your genres menus (which is stellar by the way).

Would be much appreciated, cheers, many up-votes to you; and continue being awesome.

Thanks. I am glad you found something you liked. While a lot of games don't make it to my top pick list that does not mean I do not play them regularly but like you hinted at they are probably not of the same caliber as the others.

I tried to give all of the games on the list equal time (which the exception of the ones that I say otherwise to in the comment section).

As for my top list...beside the highlighting of them in green from the OP (original post for new people to internet forums) you can also try search like this - http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/search.php?searchid=5331764

The trailer was both smart and promising, the game's intro was actually funny and, as I'm more than happy to publicly admit, Photon Baby itself is a lovely game to kill an hour or two with. Sushi!

Single Player - Yes

Theme: Fantasy

Sushi! is a fast-paced multitasking-based arcade game in which players must simultaneously serve the orders flowing in from the customers while charging them for their food, tracking tips and deploying bonuses.

Have you ever wondered what it’s like to handle a sharp knife and raw, fresh fish, while maintaining composure, arithmetic concentration, and steady, yet nimble, hands?

Sushi! uses a unique colour-matching multi-tasking gameplay mechanic to simulate the experience of a hectic kitchen environment and the constant threat of being shouted at or fired on the spot. Loads of fun…

Stealth Bastard - Tactical Espionage Arsehole

Action/Platformer/Stealth
Single Player - Yes
Multiplayer - No
Netbook Friendly

Theme: Espionage
Theme: Science Fiction

Stealth games are awesome. Hiding from The Man, skulking in shadows, the thrill of the unseen infiltration. But why do they have to be so... slow?

Introducing Stealth Bastard: stealth, with a great big kick up the arse. A fast-paced, frenetic, one-step-away-from-chunky-death melange of sneaking, platforming, hacking and cursing. A whole lot of fun. It's like Metal Gear Solid and Super Meat Boy had a baby out of wedlock. Semi-literally.

Jump, sneak, and be horribly dismembered through 28 levels hand-crafted by our crack team of in-house design geniuses, some of the same folk behind the critically-acclaimed Fluidity/Hydroventure, and the retro-styled PSN platformer Explodemon!.

And once you're done with those? Fear not - Stealth Bastard includes a FULL in-game level editor - the same we used to create the bundled levels - and even allows you to share, play and rate the community's creations from across the world.

System Requirements

OS: Windows XP or higher
CPU: 933 Mhz
