Metal Gear Solid HD Collection $5 Credit Pre-order Bonus for Metal Gear Solid: Rising
Does Rising even have a release date yet? Kind of a strange deal if you might not get to use the credit for a long time.
Last I heard, it was projected for a mid to late 2012 release date. Not sure why they would offer a credit for a game that could be a year away.

I just don't get it, at all. Metal Gear is a Konami/Sony/PlayStation series. How in the F is it coming to the 360?!

You don't know your history if you think it's a Sony/Playstation series.
Only the Japanese versions will have a code for the original MGS.

Unfortunately, I think those bonus are not available for NA, just UK and Japan.
Ah, I completely missed that bit of info. I wonder if the MGS HD collection sold at Play-Asia will come with the code to download MGS and if I'll be able to download it on PSN North America.

Anyone know?

You are going to need PSN account of that region.
That probably won't happen considering it's a MGS LE. They don't usually stick around for long.
This is very true. I've planned ahead for any Metal Gear limited editions since they are actually limited.

Now I am just at the point where I am trying to decide whether to get the LE version on the PS3 or the 360. It seems weird to get it on the 360 since a majority of my MGS releases have been purchased on a Sony system, but on the other hand it would be nice to spread the MGS love around.

Is there any real difference between the US Artbook and the Japanese one? I'm trying to convince my friend not to spend $300 on the Japanese version just because it has more pages...

I'm going with PS3 since that's where all my MGS games are, and because it's only on one disc - 360 has two.

I think the Japan one is like 450 pages vs the US's 250 or so pages. I think it includes MGS1, that's why. Be ware though that the Japan one is like over $100 (not counting what it costs to import) and only includes MGS2 and 3. Peacewalker is separate

Huge MGS fan here, it's my favorite video game series. But I still don't know if I want to preorder the LE or just the regular, considering all the games coming out this time of year...
Sold my last MGS LE for $300 on Amazon.
I have the MGS3 Subsistence LE still sealed. It has a piece of plastic on the wrapping torn away when I had Hideo Kojima sign it. He laughed when he saw it. I also had the artist of the MGS series sign my other, opened copy and he drew Snake's face on the cover.

Easily my most prized gaming possessions that I keep at work. I never buy LE's but for the MGS series (especially MGS3) I make an exception.

I'm also looking forward to using the transfarring system. Keeping everything on one disc is great, plus playing console to handheld will be great!

I can't remember where I heard it but I also remember that they're thinking of making these for the Vita and saves will transfer the same way from system to system. Did I hear this right? I'd love to play MGS3 on the go!

Yeah, get on a MGS LE when you see the opportunity. They become rare and sought after very quickly.
I want it also in my gold box!
How much was the discount?
I'd say $5 bucks tops but, every little dollar counts.

Oh I didn't realize that 360 would be on two discs and PS3 would be one. Thanks! I think that helps me make my decision :) PS3 it is!

EDIT: Order for PS3 LE placed! :)

I got my Collection and the Rising credit.

Now I just want to wait for Rising to appear in my Gold Box before I make my pre-order.
