Metroid: First Hunter free with DS
Nintendo must be taking the PSP threat seriously to include a pack-in game. Good move, and hopefully it will be a return to the old days as others have said. It will be weird to see a game other than Mario as a pack-in for a Nintendo system though. I think Tetris was the only other non-Mario pack-in.
Gyromite?
Duck Hunt?

Believe it or not, there was a time when a Nintendo system came with 3 individual pack-in games!
Why is everyone jumping saying they are buying when no1 even knows how good it be
What are you talking about?

the 800 Nintendo Line said

Its a Demo of the game......

SO right now im taking it as a demo

they said it be like the metroid 2 demo that is out now
how good the games will be.

look at the ereader who saids in a year the DS will have no games for it
...ok, now your just being retarded. DS is a step forward, and is its own system. E-reader was a step towards hotel doors and was an add-on.

And as far as the games...go do some research and find out just how ecstatic game makers are that they get to think of new ways to create, and play, games.

What about the e-reader? A) Its an add-on which means that its only going to have marginal success anyway B) Its still going strong in pokemon, I see packs of e-reader cards in target even.

But also, wanna know who says in a year the DS will have no games? The huge number of developers that are already making games for the system thats who.

I forgot about that. When I got mine as a kid it was just with Super Mario Bros.

Thats still fine for me. It gives me the option of waiting another week for another paycheck to get an extra game. I'll have SOMETHING to play, and thats good enough for me.

How said this thing is going to rock.... They could be getting ready to push the next Gameboy out in 2006 and when that happens dont expect much support for the DS

i will still buy one but im saying it will be intresting to see how many games come out
The biggest problem with this system is the currently quoted game prices. EB and Gamestop have the games priced @ $50. That is way too steep for handheld games. GBA games were pushing it when they were priced at $40. Hopefully, Nintendo will release some official pricing information.

http://www.ebgames.com/ebx/groups/nintendo_ds/
Well, also those companies had the DSs priced at $179-$200. So they are probably wrong about the games, too. I believe it even says the prices are subject to change. I bet they'll be anywhere from $30-$40.

It looks like the DS will have a successful launch and plenty of people will buy it.

/\ There is no next gameboy in my opnion.
Look at it like this. If this flops... Which now, and the closer it gets the less likely that looks. But if it did then yes after the PSP release the "Next Gameboy" will come out.

But if this takes off consider it the "next gameboy". They are not going to come out of the gate with a new concept and say "yeah this is the next gameboy" because it would then have gathered a lot of bad press about how it wont live up to the gameboy name etc. Nintende is doomed crap.

Instead they release a "stand alone Third Pillar" This does two things. Parents/people keep buying the GBA/GBASP and companies still make games for it. Ensuring even greater income for their company.

Then they introduce a DS and the phase out of the GBA SP happens. Mark my words.

And if hte GBASP still sells next to it why stop selling the GBASP?

how it sounds the games might be cheaper then 30 bucks

Nintendo will reveal software pricing at a later date, but did state for now that the business model for DS software is "more attractive" to third parties than the GBA, which suggests a lower price point. Also suggesting a lower price point for DS media is the fact that a demo cartridge is packed in with the hardware. DS media was again confirmed to be 1 gigabit in size

Hopefully this means 20 buck games i mean if tons of games hit at 20 even if the system sucked i would buy it the first day

$20 is unrealistic. After marketing etc it would leave to little profit for an unproven system.

Expect $30-$40 no more.

Because it will eventually stagnate into an unviable product. The next unit to carry the Game Boy name will be priced at $99 on introduction. This is one of Nintendo's hard and fast rules for maximum reach in the handheld market. It's all down to time and pricing when they can drop the price of the SP to $60 so that it leave room for a high-end but within the formula new system, it will arrive. Look for something that has great 3D strength than the DS but on a single screen and probably without the touch sensitivity.

This is at least a year off, so the DS has plenty of opportunity to establish whether or not a good market exists at the higher price point.
DS media was again confirmed to be 1 gigabit in size
Actually, I think this is a pretty attractive feature. 1 gig can hold quite a lot of info and most PS2 games are between 1 to 2 gigs, so they should have plenty of space to work with to make some pretty long games.

Also, I'm hoping they won't just port over their N64 games. While I'm excited to play them, I'd like for Nintendo to add some extras to the game.

Has anyone else thought about what if Nintendo starts porting over some of it's GCN titles? I'm sure with the lower resolution and some other tweaks, they could have most Cube titles fit on the DS.

the problem i always had with the GBA was 30 buck games. I mean come on 80% of all the GBA games are not worth 30 by a long shot.

ALso what will the GBA games look like on the DS will the top screen just be blank since the GBA dont use 2 screens

Gamestop has never tooken preorders on this and they said they will not until OCT 8 they want to see what nintendo will say that day......

got 9 weeks to wait (NOV 21 was 9 weeks from last sunday)

SO 61 DAYS AND COUNTING WOOO

Don't confuse your gigabits with your gigabytes. (Divide by 8)
BOMB! hopefully this sets a new trend of including games when youb uy a system... like the good old days!
Mario, Sonic, they were free. Those were good times.
I dont want it cause I think its a first person shooter. I cant play first person shooters ( i have the FIrst person shooter sickness, that is where you get sick when you play them)
then throw it away and stop crying nintendo is giving out a free game and youre bitching about it? shut up!

The Ereader game are good its just they are old etc. Plus it only gave a few levels of the game didnt it?

Regardless Nintendo is beyond good at one thing and thats games. No need to worry if the DS games will suck. They didnt just pull this two screen stuff from their asses. They have plans for it.

Thats gigaBIT. Also known as 128 megabytes. A huge amount for a handheld and double the largest released N64 games. But nowhere near the capacity used up by FMV on modern console games.

/\ Which hopefully means that they (meaning all companies that support DS) realise that this current movie/game transition is not all its about ie Matrix. GAMEPLAY is the most important thing to a game. so they wont clutter the stupid space up with some movie and make the game fun as hell. We will see though as the next generation of gamers are among us now and they also have money...which sadly means they also have a say in what gets produced... One day it will go back to gameplay and not be cheap like it is for the most part now.

the carts should be cheaper, look at how nintendo is willing to give you a demo on a cart. What other system ever had demos on carts ? They must be cheap ass hell to make.

Just a waste of good www space....
