Im posting this here for now since the game itself doesn't even come out till October. But my unnamed DS source let me know that shortly after its release it will be the next game offered free with the purchase of a DS. Just in time for the holidays it seems.

Seems like a good plan, since I don't know how well Hunters will sell otherwise. I doubt I'll be getting it, and I loved Metroid Prime.

Unfortunately, I've read nothing good about the game, and from the demo I played they'll have to give these away to move them off the shelf.

now if only metroid prime hunters goes online, that would be a lot better, too bad it doesn't. but regardless, being a pack in is a great marketing move on nintendo's part.

Sounds like a good deal to me. Good thing I haven't gotten a DS yet. The current mario bundle isn't of much interest to me.

Uh, where from? The demo showed that you can do an awesome FPS on the console, and as a demo was really good. Hunters is being highly anticipated, so I dunno where you heard negative press.

Demo didn't appeal to me at all. Golen Eye Rogue Agent didn't raise my hopes about FPS on DS either.

I suppose giving them away is all they can do to get them out there.

Wow, I have heard nothing but good (until now) on the Hunters game...

If they did announce it as an online game it would be a great way to build the community..

I've only heard nothing but bad things about it. I mean I enjoyed the demo a bit, but as mentioned above seems some people in the review business have nothing nice to say about it. I guess we will find out when it comes out.

The latest EGM contained an article on the games of E3; Metroid Prime Hunters was labeled 'terrible' for 'lacking online multiplayer' and 'maddening controls.' What is left unsaid in their preview is whether the E3 demo included configurable controls or not.

My gut feeling is that since this title, Mario Kart and Animal Crossing are going to be Nintendo's three major DS releases with Wi-Fi capabilities this Christmas, they're all going to receive a lot of polish between now and the eventual release. I haven't given up hope yet.

I found EGM's little blurb on Hunters to be rather disheartening, especially since almost everything they looked at was rated higher than Hunters (I think there were only like 3-4 'Terrible' labels out of the 70 or so games they looked at)

From the demo, I thought the controls were actually pretty cool. It has several different combinations, and I believe there's one that just used the d-pad and buttons, so I really don't get the "maddening controls" part.

And just because a game lacks online multiplayer, definitely shouldn't make it a terrible game. If we follow that logic, then Gran Turismo 3 is also a terrible game. Halo is a terrible game. Flawed logic, IMO.

I think Nintendo might wait to see how well this thing sells and how well its received before they package it with the DS. I mean if it sells really well, they really wouldn't need to package it with a DS, although it would be better for us, as consumers.
Edit your title and put RUMOR. Until it is announced nothing good will come from this post.
Wombat is a reliable source....Good as fact for me. Thanks for the scoop (again)!:applause:

Ha Ha, Thanks, Thats also why I posted it here and not the deals forum. Nintendo does reserve the right to change their mind, October is a few months away.

Thanks for the info! Too bad I got my DS when nothing came with it...
And about MP Hunters, EGM gave it a "Terrible" in its DS preview section.

EGM did give it a "Terrible" rating and every other DS game a "Good" or "Awesome". Then they gave the DS an overall "B" when it arguably had the best showing at E3.

What the hell are you talking about?

I don't think I've heard of anyone - ANYONE, for any game or console - run a promotion like that. The demo was given away with the consoles. Why on Earth would they give you the game or even a discount on it because they gave you a demo?

There isn't a snowball's chance in hell of that one happening. Ever.

Uh, from right there and other E3 sources. Thanks coolz481.

The general sentiment, and one I agree with whole-heartedly, is that Hunters is exactly what everyone feared when the original Metroid Prime was revealed to be in the first person perspective: a contrived, weak FPS that lacks the magic of exploration the Metroid series is known and loved for.

While we're fantasizing, if you own every single metroid game so far you'll get this one for free. And it links up to the original NES game to unlock new levels.

So wait... I haven't followed this game much, but you mean to tell me it's NOT like other Metroid games?

I knew it had multiplayer battling, but I thought that was just part of the package, kind of like Metroid Prime 2.

I don't know anyone else with a DS, it would kind of suck if the game's single player was horrible.

"Maddening controls" applies only to people who haven't played an FPS on the PC. Unfortunately, a lot of the console and general population feel that without analog sticks, an FPS cannot be done. PC gamers however take to controls like the standard mouse and strafe.

At E3, I played the demo. My score was 26 kills, 0 deaths. The next highest score was 3 kills. Most of the people who were playing looked like they were just learning how to walk and aim. I was jumping, mid air spinning, and shooting off heads like you would in a standard game of counterstrike or something. I could have very well wiped the floor against the EGM reviewers. I'd imagine it'd be easy to label something with maddening conrols when your opponent is doing acrobatics without getting scratched in return.

yeah these the demo had fine controls as long as you used the shoe. I've pretty well on the demo. So how could the more complete version have weaker conrtols ? Those people must be nuts or not learned the best way to play the game.

Another good deal, although I'm plenty happy with the free Mario 64 I just got with my DS :) all 150 stars baby.

Hmm this deal may actually sway me into finally purchasing a DS since this was one of the few games I was really looking forward to with the DS.

Good, I couldn't care less about Hunters, so I have no regrets about picking up the Mario 64 bundle, even though playing it without proper analog control is a bit of a chore.

It's a fantasy. And I was joking anyway.

On another note am I the only one who enjoyed the stylus controll more. I actually had an easier time getting some of the stars because the stylus gave me better controll.

I used the thumb pad control, my friend had gripes about the touch control and i had to show him that you only move your thumb on the little circle (he thought it was the whole screen) and after that he loved the game. I had no problems other than a 10 minute learning curve with the controls.

I'm still waiting on more colors. Neither silver or "electric blue" are doing it for me. Maybe they'll have Samus metalic Orange... I might buy that. But not being a big fan of FPS it would have to have an adventure aspect to even remotly begin to care about it.

Playing the demo in TRU I can say the original demo's control was not terribly horrible but it was not specifically as easy to play as the console version which I was used to.

It has to be online.

Nintendo issupposed to release their online DS plans in the fall. If this isn't online then wouldn't they have made the bundle with Mario Kart or Animal Crossing?

Oh wait this is Nintendo logic doesn't always help.
I'm still waiting on more colors.
GREEN motherfuckers, I will boycott until you make a GREEN DS!

And that's LIME GREEN, not baby poo, not barf, but LIME motherfucking GREEN!

i dont know if anyone's mentioned this yet (im too lazy to read everything) but another problem is that the game is based on Metroid deathmatch, possibly the worst part of Metroid Prime 2. The game requires exploration and adventure, not idiot AI bots or the occasional friend playing (although, if it came with the DS, a lot of people would have it)

Anybody know if the Free Mario 64 with the DS deal is still on? if so do anybody know when its expires cuz I wouldn't mind gettin that. I would rather get Mario 64 DS than Hunters.

Chances are it will end just as Hunters comes out so if you want M64 you probably should do it before Oct. if this all pans out.

Wait and see. With the inclustion of the other bounty hunters the story line has a chance at being great. But I agree the demo was lame. But it has the potential that I think Nintendo should keep trying until they get the Metroid multiplayer fun. In my opinion no game has yet matched the multiplayer fun of Goldeneye and MarioKart. Not halo, splitner cell, not nothing. But nintendo does have a good history of multiplayer games. Smash brothers, Mario kart, Star fox 64 was decent, so i'll give it a chance.

I'm definitely passing on this potential deal as well. Like others, I did not enjoy the demo as it was more of a chore to control samus than anything else. With EGM agreeing with me, Nintendo better put some serious refinements into this game for it to suceed if they want it to be worth it outside of this bundle. While the DS had a good showing at E3, I felt that the PS2 had the best showing of all with many, many great looking games covering many genres.

I find the amount of credibility you give EGM amusing.

I'm kind of confused.... The thing is I HATE FPS games with a passion. I did however play the Hunters demo from the lack of DS games out at the time. I didn't have any control issues. I played the multiplayer with 2 DS's and it seemed pretty good. Like I said I don't play these games so maybe I'm not the best person to take an opinion from but I just thought I would add my experience with the game.
