MGS4: CE or Standard? (No Spoilers)

Standard. My friend (who doesn't own a PS3, but is a rabid fan) is buying the CE. I'll borrow his extras in the meantime.

I might even leave fingerprints all over his "special" extras. Serves him right for not owning a PS3 yet.

Anyways, Where did you hear about stores not getting enough, all reports stores have their orders in. BnN still has it for order. What really bothers me is that we're paying full price for a half ass'ed version compaired to the UK LE, which gets everything. Good ol GameStop.

Go look at the MGS4 topics. People worked at GS saying some stores wont have enough. The UK LE cost a lot more than the USA LE, even if you factor in the weak US currency.

They hated us the last couple of times an MGS came out, seeing as how they released it in the US a week before it even hit Japan.

Near my old school, they had a KFCTaco Bell. I have also been to a Pizza Hut/Taco Bell in Ohio. I know, I just blew your mind.

I am getting the CE. Maybe. I have it pre-ordered. I might get two. Maybe sell later or cash in on the hype.

Seeing as they have consistently released killer stuff in other regions, like the 20th anniversary collection in Japan and a superior LE in Europe, I'll stand by my case and not let a whole week get me all weak in the knees.
 
Collector's Edition is the only choice for me. I love the series a lot. Actually even pre-ordered two copies: one for play and one for the shelf. I'm not quite sure if the value of the MGS4 CE is going to go up at all or not, but even if it doesn't, having it sealed for the personal collection will be quite nice.

Can't wait to pick it up tomorrow.
 
Wow, I'm actually quite surprised that so many people are picking up the CE. For a forum filled with a buncha cheapasses, $84.99 sure ain't stoppin' no one! ;)

I got both... the regular (came with my 80GB PS3) and LE (purchased from GS). And then there's another LE from my brother's MGS4 LE PS3.
 
Just picked up the CE an hour ago. I kinda regret it since the "art book" looks like a POS brochure more than anything collectable (and the pages were jacked up in the corner... printer error I suppose). I haven't opened the package yet, but it looks like the case might not close flush (I could be wrong, still shrinkwrapped) and I'm assuming that the case insert is the same as the SE.. kind of disappointing since this was the first CE/LE I sprung the extra money for and probably the last.

My only consolation is that the game will kick so much ass that I won't mind dropping the extra money while I'm playing it.
 
Just picked up my LE preorder along with the LE guide (which I picked up from Best Buy).

Funny story. I walked into EB and found a smattering of people in front of the desk. I was ushered over by one of the two sales clerks and asked if I had preordered MGS4. I indicated yes and he began ringing me up. At that point, a guy walked into the store and joined the throng in front of the store. After about a minute, he began screaming at the top of his lungs that he was the first in the store and that they were thus obligated to sell "it" to him. The employee handling the situation had a used game in hand that he was just putting back into an envelope and apparently two guys were fighting over it.

I think the funniest thing the guy shouted was "You're just selling the game to him because he's your friend!" The clerk indicated that he'd never seen the other guy in his life and the angry kid started screaming that the clerk had very clearly said hello to the guy when he walked in, indicating that he must know him.

Angry dude also indicated that he was more mature than the other guy in line even though he was only 21, at which point the other fellow in line - who hadn't said a word, rolled his eyes, or even smirked, stated he was just 19.

Through the process, the angry guy left the store (with his friend still arguing for the game) and borrowed the phone at one of the cellphone kiosks. He called the police to report that he was at the store first and to have them send over an officer to force them to sell his friend the game. :roll:

As I was leaving, a security guard came in and had to get physical with the screaming guy and his buddy.
 
Have the CE/LE version on it's way to my house from EBGames.com. Should be there by Monday.

Such a long wait :(
 
I have a question for people getting the LE - Are you taking off the protective plastic off of the art on the front of the box? I kind of want to take it off since there's bubbles and the like in it, but I'm concerned the art will rub off or scuff if I do take the plastic off due to shelf wear.
 
I got the LE and GS gave me the artbook at the time of purchase. I'm really happy with it because it wasn't just some crap cardboard box, it's actually a nice case that I can keep the two cases in. I like it a lot =) worth my money
 
yeah, I think that if you actually got the Metal Gear saga 2 dvd and the art brochure then the CE/LE is worth it. YOu could probably sell the game after you played it for 40-50 bucks and then re-buy it a year down the line for 10-30 bucks. MGS is notorious for high depreciation. You can get mgs 2 for 4 bucks at gamestop.
 
I priced matched the CC deal at bestbuy and ended up getting MGS4 and the guide for $9.25 out of pocket.

I had the CE pre ordered but decided it was too much.
 
I said suck it wallet and finally bought a PS3 bundle. seriously this morning i had no intentions of buying a ps3 at least not for like another year or so but a buddy came over and i watched him hook it up and play it and the rational part of my brain exploded. seriously exploded and i went out and bought one at walmart (at least the $100 helped a bit)
 
i said suck it wallet and went out and bought the PS3 MGS4 bundle. seriously when i woke up this morning i had no plans on buying a PS3 at least not of another year or so. but a buddy brought over his bundle he bought and hooked it up. I played about 15 minutes of MGS4 and the rational part of my brain exploded, seriously it exploded. i went out to walmart and bought the bundle (at least the $100giftcard helped a bit)
 
I bought the LE but also have the regular edition that came with my PS3 bundle.

If anyone wants to buy a copy, send me a PM and we can work something out.
 
Still can't believe that's the actual box cover. The Limited Edition slipcase cover is what it should have been. Rant over, swear I won't talk about how much I hate that cover again...until it shows up in the mail and burns my eyes again. You could put masking tape on the logo and write "Quaker Oats" and fool your mom. Try it, it's a great prank, until she puts in in the microwave and starts a kitchen fire.
 
I put 10 bucks down on the CE. Then I canceled my 5 dollar preorder and added it to the CE. Then I went in with 60 bucks and put it towards it. And I went in with 5 more bucks to pay it off and they were like, "That will be 19 bucks".

Damn thing is like 94 bucks after tax.

whoa....tax in cali sucks, but don't you guys have a higher min. wage?

When I picked up my LE, it was just under $90 with tax
 
I pre-ordered the CE/LE, but now looking at what it contains, I am VERY VERY Disappointed.

For $25 extra, all you get is a Blu-ray documentary crap, and Soundtrack (Torrent anyone)?

God that's Lame! NOT worth $5 EVEN!!!

Now, I am COMPLETELY DISAPPOINTED. Will going to Gamestop and get my $10 Refund!!!

Well, I go into gamestop often. And I don't really like seeing a HUGE chunk being taken out of my account, so it's nice just to put any cash I have at the time and add to it so it wouldn't be a huge shock.

And I had a preorder (which I didn't want) but they make me feel so damn bad canceling it so it took me like a month until I canceled. And when I did, you should have seen the looks on their faces. They seemed SO offended.

man, I 'm so pissed I missed Hideo Kojima's signing at Uniqlo in NYC. I live 3 blocks from there! I got up all early morning to get the CE from the most remote Gamestop in town with no hassle and I heard that the Uniqlo signing was pretty lowkey. If only I had known. DAMN!
 
the blu-ray had pretty good content.
However packaging is dissapointng.
Honestly shouldve been worth $75 ish, but what the hell, game is fun.
 
I think in a couple weeks when more people finish the game, there should be a poll on which act was everyones favorite. I'd be definitely interested to see that. Since they are all so different.
Act 1 and 4 were my favorites.

To me the acts all represented a different game in the series...
Act 1: MGS4
Act 2: MGS3
Act 3: Wtf was act 3? Was that the Europe one?
Act 4: MGS1
Act 5: MGS2
