Here is a thread just for us Michiganders to talk about the stores in our area that have good deals. Post any Mom & Pop Stores too so we can find the best deals. I need help gathering a list so I will update the OP from time to time. I will try to list all of the stores in Alphabetical order by City.
Damn. I'm at the PSP next door once a month. I'll have to pop in next time.

Is any computer software (not games) being clearanced or is it being shipped to other stores?
Since we went to 20%, a large majority of the software was shipped back to the manufactures since most non-gaming software is issued on consignment. We still have some but not as much as we had a week ago.
Any CAGS wanna hear me on the Radio IN the greater Detroit area(Im a professional Radio Broadcaster) Tune into 90.9 FM between 3-6pm Im the traffic anchor. The reports are Usually at the :20 :40 and :50 Each Hour.

Im also on 107.5 FM The Rythum doing the same thing at :10 and :30 between 3:10 and 5:30. I work for a company which provides News , traffic and weather and have no relation with the stations content. Im also the Fulltime News anchor on WDTK 1400am between 12-7pm. Top and Bottom of the hours. :bouncy:
I'm guessing you're a Wayne Stater? Specs Howard tends to put people everywhere else but Detroit.

I did the Specs thing back in the late 90's and went to class with a lot of people that went on to 97.1. I always seemed to get the christian radio stations, though. Last gig I did was weekends at 1500am (I think!) and I left because that I was my second job - my "main" job was I had just started working for Big Blue making about six times what any other station wanted to pay me, plus OT, bennies, 401(k), etc. Not a hard decision to switch...

I do kinda miss it at times, because it was such a fun job - and most people don't realize that you're usually always busy. When I am feeling masochistic, I sometimes consider looking for an overnight shift in addition to my ~50 hr a week day job.

The funniest on-air thing that ever happened to me was I was filling in on the Fourth of July and while I was on the air, I heard a knock at my door. The person I was filling in for NEVER told me she had scheduled an in-studio guest for an interview and CD giveaway. So I fumbled my way through the interview (asking the most basic questions) and decided to give away a few CDs. I said the fifth person to call would win the first of the guest's CDs...and no one called! I felt embarrassed for the guest and when the phone finally rang, I announced them the winner. (Only to find out later that the station never sent the CDs out to them!)

I know...way off topic (and a several month old post), but sometimes, I do kinda miss radio...

That's odd. I've not seen much in the way of IBM employees in the tri-county area,,,

I enjoyed the post. I worked for my high school radio station for two years and we really racked up the MAB and MAEB awards. Being a dj and sports director was a ton of fun and I miss it all the time.

Really? The main (now only) IBM building is right on 9 mile and Southfield in Southfield. I used to work on the ninth floor there until I was trasnferred to a customer account. I loved my desk there. My desk was at the window facing Fox 2 and I would watch the Skyfox helicopter take off and land all the time...

I spent many years though as a "road warrior" before that and also did a lot of POS stuff for Best Buy and Target...things I do not miss at all...

sorry to bump the thread back into life but whats everybody gonna get on friday?? I am trying to get a copy of the outfit so far.

A little late, admittedly, but I got jack. I'm a little short on cash for the next week and I really didn't want to blow what was left on some of the HDTV sales I saw. (However, I came THIS close to buying that door buster one at BB anyway...)
Hey guys, I have a PS3 60gb I would like to sell to a Cagger in Michigan if possible for a local pickup. I live in Canton and am wanting to sell the 60GB PS3 for $860 and avoid the pain of selling on Ebay. I would accept cash and money order only for a local pickup. If anyone is interested leave me a PM. If it works with my schedule, I would even deliver the system.
come on man, that's not cool, plus this is a DEALS thread not to be mistaken with a "sell over MSRP because I waited outside target for an hour" thread.

Anybody know where to find a damn Wii in this state. I have hit over 30 stores in the past four days with no sucess. I am in Detroit close to Fairlane mall if that helps.

My bro and I waited out of circuit city in Ace Deuce for 6 hours to get ours...we also got 25 dollar giftcards per system, and used the save 40 off 199.99 purchase. Love the Wii.

I got mine at the EB Games across from the Westland Mall last Thursday, and saw some at the Target in Canton a few days ago.

They're around, it's just a right place at the right time thing.

If anyone's looking for a PS3, the Best Buy near Lakeside Mall in Sterling Heights has 3 of them, 2 60GB and 1 20GB.

I'm telling you, try Meijer. Talk up the guy in the games department and tell him to give you a call or something when they get a shipment in. Slip him a 20 if you need it that badly and I'm sure you'll get a call on the next delivery. When Andy Jackson talks, minimum wage workers listen.

LMAO. Yep. I must have been offered two or three mysterious "traffic jobs in North Carolina" or something similar, but they didn't do dick to help me get something in Detroit - and I graduated from there with honors, it's not like I had shitty grades or anything.

I was at WJR for a little over a year around 2001-2002 (I fortunately knew someone who did sports there and they got me into the newsroom, Specs' placement had nothing to do with it), but they laid off several younger employees due to cutbacks, and that meant I was done there.

I know...way off topic (and a several month old post), but sometimes, I do kinda miss radio...
Me too, but it's too hard to just bust in on it in this market. I'm reasonably content with what I'm doing now, so it never really bothers me too much.

Here's a scan for a 20% off at Gamestop (one specific store only). The EB at Lakeside Mall is closing and on the counter is a stack of these...it's nothing special, just a b&w photocopied printout. Gives you 20% off at the Gamestop in Shelby (45159 Market St in Shelby Township).

Sorry to see the Lakeside store go, that area of the mall being a game store has been there in one form or another as long as I've lived in Rochester (1990) and probably longer. I guess it doesn't surprise me, almost everything surrounding it has been totally overhauled, and that store was the one holdout. Hell, I remember when instead of that giant food court, it was a giant arcade (Tilt)....that place was the SHIT. Two floors of games at a time when Gameworks wasn't even yet a twinkle in some corporate prick's eye.

Dropped $25 there for a couple used Gamecube games, since I bought a Wii but skipped the Gamecube and I'm catching up.

Me too, but it's too time consuming and frustrating to try to break in in Detroit. I've got shit I need to pay for, I can't risk everything on a bunch of "maybe" opportunities. I'm reasonably content with what I'm doing now, so it never really bothers me too much.

If anyone cares - There are 5 copies of Gunpey (DS) in the Brighton, MI Target for $14.98.

I've never even heard of this game nor seen it on the shelves until Cheapy mentioned it in last week's CAGcast. I thought it was an import only title.

No, Im a rare exception..Im a Specs Grad. They told me outright that id have to move out of state or start in a cornfield radio station to start off. I didnt want to do that so I pushed on locally..I graduated 2 days before Christmas '96 and landed that Job in March of '97. My first radio job was a small country station in Ann Arbor then I was hired in to What I do now since about 1997.

Thats too bad about the Lakeside EB closing...I had no idea. Funny thing is. During 2001 late 2002 I took a break from Radio and worked at that Very EB as the Assistant Manager. I quit and resumed in Broadcasting immediately..Was an interesting little Hiatus to say the least.

I just recently found STEAMBOT CHRONICLES and STREETFIGHTER EX2 new and sealed at the Gamerush on Rochester Rd with a used sticker on them. They had a B2G1F so I got the one 'real' used copy free. That was pretty cool.

The quest for a Wii continues..................

It does make sense though. The corner of Hall Rd and Schoener makes me wonder what is wrong with Gamestop/EB... With the EB mall store in place, there is a EB or gamestop at every corner of that intersection.
One by target, one by Sportcard Central, the one in the mall, and one by Circuit City. It's just stupid. Then they go and do the exact same thing over at Gratiot and Masonic... an EB by Coldstone, and Gamestop by the Border's express, and then one in the mall. Unless they're selling tons of franchises, the corporation just seems hugely stupid to put that many storefronts so close together.

Yo

I found Twisted Metal and a bazillion copies of Wipeout for PSP on clearance at Target for $4.98, and Viewtiful Joe DS for the same price. Wipeout was at both Midland and Saginaw Target stores. You know, if you have a PSP. Also one copy of Killer7 for GC for $2.97. FYI.

Nice. I have seen a few gems there myself (it's less than 5 minutes from my house).

I've been seeing Wiis once in a while (Wal-Mart over by the Silverdome, Circuit City off of John R in Troy)...should only be another two or three weeks before you can find them most places, I'd assume.

should only be another two or three weeks before you can find them most places, I'd assume.

Yeah, Im seeing accessories like crazy now. Remotes, Nunchuks, classic controllers are popping up. I was at the TARGET in Sterling Heights last night (Van dyke at 16 mile) and they had plenty of those accessories.

I also overheard the clerks talking and they have alot of Wii's in the Back room and arent allowed to sell them until this Sunday. (Feb 11th)

If anyone is still interested in one of these, the Meijer at 13 and John R. in Madison Heights has a copy of Final Fantasy with the PS2 HDD marked down to $50. Not sure what these have been running, I'm not in the market for one, just a random sighting. Just the one copy, I believe, at 7:30 this evening.

^

If you can still find them at KMART. You can pick them up for $23-$25.00. I found one buried in a display case In Richmond at 32 mile and Gratiot for that much. The price still said $99.99.

I saw one at the SEARS Lakeside store for $49.99 too, but that was a while ago in the Fall.

FYI

Wiis seem to be everywhere today. I hit Target in Flint on Miller road and saw 12 units. Target in Hartland has four. And the Target in Brighton has 10 units as of 1 1/2 hours ago.

I got mine this past Sunday, My Wife and I split up to get one, I forgot my cell phone in the car and we ended up with one too many. LOL. she returned it. But my TRU had a stack and she said they had 55 according to the clerkat her TARGET, all of which sold out by noon.

Well saves me the trip... what time did you go? You gotta get up early if you want the cheapest games.

Best Buy in Taylor [formerly Southgate] was pretty much cleaned out , I only found an XBOX copy of CounterStrike . I didn't buy it , I hid it for later .

Although , I didn't have all of the time in the world to look .

Got there when it opened lol.

Now that CompUSA is closing down, I gotta check that place tomorrow! hopefully I can get a deal on the wireless headset for my 360 (at least 10 percent off lol).

Nada at BB in Rochester worth mentioning really..Nothing at all at the Southfield and Lakeside stores either. Didnt check if there was a restock.

When the Hell is the new FYE in Lakeside opening? I was told by the manager March 3rd..well I went on Sunday and it was still crammed into that old shoe store section, all crammed with kids running around..hot. Heard anything?

Masquerade games: 10 Mile Rd, Eastpointe.
The selection is old, and doesn't change often at all, but they'll usually do ordering for you.

Game Quest: Gratiot and 21 mile rd.
The store owner doesn't have much in the way of imports, but he has a reasonable selection of old used titles for most formats, and has no issue doing special orders for customers.

If anybody's looking for some Wiimotes or WiiPlay, the Meijer in Brighton has 1/2 dozen of each today, FYI.

No Wii consoles, though, they sold out this morning.

Man,

I remember when DIEHARD game stores were around..one in Waterford and one in Rochester, I played the Saturn there b4 it was released stateside. I was in awe of that wall of imports..man, good times.

I wish there was one closer. There used to be one on Canal and Garfield roads in Sterling Heights..what was that? Gamesource? Long gone too.

Just a heads up Quake 4 (360) $19 - 10% at the CUSA in Grand Rapids.

Didn't really see anything else that seemed like a good deal but I was just in and out real quick.
