Been lurking forever and finally have something to contribute. For those of you that were burned by Best Buy's drop in trade-in values and have a Microcenter near you, here's a possible alternative. Microcenter has some trade in values advertised on their website and in the new sales paper. Notice the trade in value for Crysis 2. I've never personally traded there so if anyone has please post your experiences.

http://www.microcenter.com/storefronts/gaming/used.html

YMMV, as some stores do not have trade-in capabilities.
Stores without trade-ins: 'Twin Cities/St. Louis Park, MN', 'Beltway/Rockville, MD' [add more when discovered]

Current trade in values as of 11/29/11 from the CAG community (Thanks fortunado for compiling and editing list)

(11/29/11) - Added some new values today. I overheard someone say that all the games MC buys get shipped off to their buyer and then redistributed among the stores that lack certain titles. At my store they will take one copy per game, per console, per day, per person. So it may be possible to just spread trades of duplicate games out over the course of a few weeks.

(4/1/12) - RAGE Anarchy Edition not being accepted at some stores due to UPC being different from what they allow (even though it is the "better" version). YMMV on this if the employee will override.

To keep the wiki current, try to enter the date you obtained the value.
Traded in the following today:

:xbox: Alice: Madness Returns $25
:xbox: Dungeon Siege 3 $27

I updated the wiki

Edit: hmmm anyone care to share the UBB code for the xbox 360?
I was able to trade in a bunch of games today (no duplicates) and none of them were rejected. I traded in Batman AC, Bulletstorm, RAGE, plus a bunch of other old games. All the prices from back at Christmas seem to still be legit.
i want that ipad 2 :D
Yeah, $360 for a 16 GB iPad 2 is pretty bad ass.

I'm personally going for the iPad 3 whenever they get them in.

Updated the OP with some trades I did today.

On another note, my friend that works at Microcenter tells me that they have already received their shipment of the new iPads. They will be good to go next Friday. I'm looking forward to it :)

Technically off-topic, but since you're all talking about it...

Anyone have experience with picking up an iPad from them? I'm guessing they don't take pre-orders for such things, and it's just show up at the door in release day and pray it isn't sold out?

tried to trade in batman monday, the store in westmont, IL couldn't find it in their system. was able to trade in bulletstorm and rage though. who knows. glad i went when i did though

No preorders. First come first serve at my local store at least.
tried to trade in batman monday, the store in westmont, IL couldn't find it in their system. was able to trade in bulletstorm and rage though. who knows. glad i went when i did though
I went there in there on Monday and traded Batman in with no problem. I had to wait about 15 min for the girl to get back there but they took it.

TIVs for today:
:360: Two Worlds II = $25
:ps3: Two Worlds II = $9 (I didn't trade this one in, but I glanced at the value...)
:360: Mindjack = $27
:360: Dungeon Siege III = $27
:360: Crysis 2 = $25

I'm probably done trading for a while at Microcenter as I've depleted my gaming stash and finally had enough trade credit to pick up a 16GB iPad for my wife's birthday.

I have to say that I've never felt so appreciated for buying something in my life. No fewer than 4 people thanked me for my purchase (apple sales clerk, cashier, & 2 managers). Both managers shook my hand, and I walked away with at least 3 different business cards.

It's a weird store. Takes a half hour to find somebody working to get you whatever you are looking to buy (or trade in) but once you are ready to buy, then half the store wants to come out and meet you. You'd think that they would be more interested in having people help you get what you want to buy since I think it's more likely that people will give up and walk out rather than be about to buy an ipad and say "son of a bitch, nobody has thanked me for making this purchase" and leave.

Anyone know if the Cambridge store is still taking trade-ins, and if so does your "history" of traded games limit you to what they'll accept? I haven't been back there since the Brink fiasco and refusing to take 8 non-Brink games from me.

So I talked to MC in faifax on Saturday and they told me they don't do trade in any more because they "don't have a system to test the games...." huh? The guy said they stopped months ago.

It probably has to do with their commission set up or something. Someone explained it around here, perhaps in this thread. But there's probably little incentive to help you on the floor unless you're in one of the back rooms buying a large TV, Apple product, etc.

Did some trading at the microcenter in santa clara, so this what i was told from the guy on the game department. U can only trade-in one copy of a game for each console. so u can trade 2 copies of rage if one is ps3 and the other one xbox 360, also u can only do it once. The guy check thier signup list and also look up my name in their database to see if im trading multiple copies of the same game. They are keeping track of all names that check in for trades and keeping thier database update, oh yeah they also check ID to confirm you are signing in with ur real name. he also told me they are keeping track of games with $25 and $27 trade in value since those are the one which are being Trade-in the most.

I did a trade in at the madison heights store no problem, A copy of rage and Bulletstorm. No mention of a memo saying no trades, person was there behind the counter, had a quick discussion with him, and I walked away with a little more credit that i'm still not sure what i'm going to do with.

Has anybody traded in at the santa clara store in the past couple of days? Might get rid of my PS3 and 360 copy of Bulletstorm for that price. And maybe Mindjack while I'm at it.

I did one last week and didnt go through the new process you did. I wonder if its a new process that just started or if it was just the employee. What is the employees name on the receipt they gave you? Was it Jens? I only had him once months ago. All other times it was with Kim.

Maybe a week and a half ago, day prior to the Rage/Bulletstorm memo. Traded 2 PS3 games (Rage/Crysis 2) and 1 360 (Rage). So even though they didn't have the "stop taking Rage/Bulletstorm", they still allowed me to turn in two PS3 games which seemingly was policy since the Brink fiasco.

I don't remember the name of the guy who did it, but he seemed knowledgeable and got me out quick. Still have one copy of Rage PS3 so I may try it at some point and if I have to eat it, no big deal, I'll put it in the backlog.

Oh shit sorry! Haha it was really late. I read this page first, then backtracked like five pages. Thanks man.

the person who help me , his name was Mark S. all the other one trade in that i did, the person who help me was a girl name kim. but she also is doing the same thing since she told about the new process and how they r keeping track of trade in. So just get some1 else to trade for you. good luck

Did you trade in Rage before? Because it sounds like they let it slide starting now and will enforce it once they take it in with the new process in place. Sucks because ive done Rage and Crysis before like half everybody out there. Hopefully others will confirm.

Trades today

Gears of war 3: 30
Modern warfare 3 Xbox: 30
Thor Xbox: 25
Transformers DOTM Xbox: 25
Dungeon Siege 3 Xbox: 27

Damn you Microcenter for not opening a store around here.:bomb: I wonder how many $2 copies of Crysis 2 on both platforms from that BB sale last month they'll get in trade.

just did a trade in today at the Santa Clara store. Amelia C. was the worker who did the trade-in for me, she was nice and really helpful.

:360: Bulletstorm - $17
:360: Mindjack - $27
anybody got any good gamestop to microcenter flips ?

a quick list would be great
Really? No way would I tell you the flips. You know why? Because then EVERYONE would flip the same games. Then the TIVs would plummet and Microcenter would just stop taking trades all together (some locations already have). Anyway, if you want a list...make one yourself and stop being lazy. BOOM.

People do share the TIV for the games they flip. People also do post deals on Gamestop sales. If you put two and two together, I'm sure you'd get that list.

$12.99 (-10% Powerup rewards) to $25 if you trade in Brink I hear. Bring in a couple copies before they kill it though, both systems.

exactly.

For all you guys that traded in Rage (PS3), did they give you a hard time about accepting the Anarchy edition (pre-order exclusive with free DLC; includes 2 bonus weapons, armor & a special buggy)?!? They wouldn't let me do it because the sku didn't match any sku they had.

If you're talking about the Dallas location then yes, they didn't accept my copies of Rage because the SKU's don't match the regular edition SKU in the system.

Gamestop isn't where you should be looking at.

Check out the current Gamefly sale going on now, and compare the prices between these ($9-10) and the TiVs of Microcenter games ($20-30). My personal experience with Gamefly has been spectacular, though I've read stories on CAG of some cases otherwise.

I've flipped multiple games in 3 different trips all from Gamefly purchases, making a lot more than double the money I spent. Good luck!

I agree. Last year i was able to make one trip, well two actually because of the trade system being down even though i called ahead of time...anyhow when i was able to trade in, it was about 20 games worth and i was able to get my fiance a new sony vaio laptop for christmas and still had credit left now that i think about it!...so when i saw the gamefly sale it was a no brainer for me, so a hefty dip into my savings should pay off and ill be making a run this weekend and will report back.

Ok, thanks for the info! Currently, Amazon's giving $9.45 for it but GS's probably gonna give more once they have their random trade-in bonus promo's.

Rage TIVs held as of yesterday: $27 for 360, $25 for PS3

Interestingly enough, was looking at actually buying something this visit after my Rage PS3 trade in. Had my $25 on a paper receipt as well as $77 from a previous trade.

Ended up buying the UC1/2 dualshock pack for $48 which I thought was pretty good since I could flip the UCs at this weekend's GS trade promo. Used the $15 email coupon, used the $25 trade in receipt which left about $10 to pay. Used the $77 receipt and the cashier gave me the option to put the credit on a GC or back in cash! Cash, of course.

So if you have leftover credit from the receipt form of your trade, buy something cheap and ask for cash back.

Motorstorm apocalypse (PS3) - $27
Black Ops (PS3) - $23
Rage (360) - $27
Vanquish (PS3) - $14
MGS HD Collection (PS3) - $20

Trades for today:
:360: F.E.A.R. 3 = $25
:360: Crysis 2 = $25
:360: Transformers: Dark of the Moon = $25
:360: Dark Souls = $27
:360: Warhammer 40K: Space Marine = $28
:360: Deus Ex: Human Revolution = $27 (the trade system has it misspelled as Dues EX...)
:360: Dirt 3 = $20
:360: Sesame Street: Once Upon a Monster = $20
:360: Dead Island = $28
:360: Gears of War 3 = $30
:ps3: Killzone 3 = $25
