3/4/08 UPDATE (from CheapyD)
:
Just heard from the Peoria Police Dept in Arizona. "Minder" is currenly in custody and they are seeking further prosecution. It appears he was selling stolen property.

If you were a victim of "Minder", please contact the Peoria Police via CAG PM.

Thanks!

Well, after waiting for my iPods to arrive with no communication from Minder, I was given advice to start a thread so everyone with a bad deal from Minder could post.

Long story short, first deal with him was great (shipping took 7 days, but all is well that ends well). Decided to purchase a couple more iPods from him. Paid April 22, 2007 ($400+) and was told by Minder he was shipping them out the next day (Monday, April 23, 2007) with insurance. PM'ed him on Thursday (April 26, 2007) to get the insurance info and asked when they were shipped, he replied he had problems at work and would ship them that day. PM'ed him again on Monday, May 1, 2007 to get the insurance info and see if that items had been sent yet. Replies with a story about having real life problems, had to move out of his apartment, iPods were boxed and he couldn't ship them until that afternoon. No iPods have arrived and I have not been able to contact Minder.

Anyone else that has had a deal gone bad with him, please post and we can collectively go after our cash. I have already informed Shrike and filed a Paypal dispute. I believe my next step will be to contact his local police department.

I am in the same boat, I paid $100 for an IPOD on April 21st and I never got it. He has not reply any emails since May 1st and he never sent me any information related to tracking number or insurance.

His story of getting these from working at Verizon is BS. Winning over 40 iPod's because he is a good seller in 5 days is BS. I have friends that work at Verizon, Sprint, T Mobile, and Cell One. They sometimes win sweet items, but never 40 of said sweet items.

I'm still going with stolen. Cases were beat to hell since he had to smuggle them out in his ass cheeks. :D All of you will be going to jail for receiving stolen property. Get ready for Bubba. :D JK

I bought an iPod shuffle from him a few weeks back and things went pretty smoothly so I decided to buy an iPod nano. Like others have stated above, I haven't heard from him since May 1. He did let me know that he was having personal problems which lead to the delay in shipment and also stated that he didn't have access to the Internet for quite some time. If this is a scam, I suggest everyone coordinate together on contacting his local police department. I would imagine our case will be taken much more seriously when they receive reports of X amount of individuals all being scammed by the same person.

i think he stole the ipods. sell them here for the first few good ones, get some feedback, then sell some more. finally move out!

I knew something was fishy about him. He was selling me an ipod for $130 but then I guess after he saw that many were paying a higher price he upped it to $160 and I just decided to pass up as I thought he might have stolen them to begin with. His stories for getting them were just kinda too good to be true. Hopefully something can be done about this.

I never made a deal with him so I don't have much to report, but my interaction with him over PMs was enough to make my BS-radar go crazy. We agreed on a price for 2 of the Ipods, I told him my friend had to send me the money and he *offered* to hold them for me. Less than 10 minutes later his tradelist was updated as having sold 1 of the ones I was supposed to buy.

So I messaged him back and he won't even acknowledge that he screwed me on our deal. I tell him I still want the other one and he says ok, and sends me a price $30 higher than the original asking price.

I realize he's under no obligation to not break deals or anything like that, but I don't have any interest in trading with someone who is so flaky, let alone pay them over $200 for something.

I hope he's either being honest and it's a big misunderstanding, or that if he's trying to Shaq-Fu you guys that he doesn't get away with it.

I've never dealt with the guy but I thought I'd mention that his profile shows that he logged into CAG today.

Also his trade list mentions a video card he "won" at a gaming tourney. Exactly how many things did he try to sell that he supposedly won?

He has sold about 40 iPods. The funny thing is the first batch he said he won from work and he wouldn't be getting anymore then 2 days later he has more.....repeat 2 days later again he has a ton more after he said he wouldn't have anymore. Usually when you win something you know ahead of time what you won and when you'll be getting it. You don't get it within a couple days. Liek i said I have friends who work for all the Cell Phone companys and when my friend won a 360 it took her 3 weeks to get it. Maybe when he meant Won from work he actually meant "Stole" from work :D

Yeah Im waiting on a 80 gig and a 1 gig shuffle. Havent gotten either yet so looks like I might be out alot of cash. If thats the case then Im going to have to find out where this guy lives. He claimed he shipped a couple weeks ago. Now he claims he shipped Thursday

**If someone finds out where he lives PM me so I can contact his local police. Thanks**

ugh... makes me question buying from people over the Interweb based, for the most part, on trust. :/ Thankfully, the majority of scam-ish situations I've found myself in were only close calls.

Like it was said before, he's obviously had a few successful transactions on CAG. Someone has to have some contact info on him somewhere.

I feel bad for those who got screwed though. Hopefully this works out for everyone.

I dealt with Mr. Minder twice, received ipods in 3 days or less both times. That sucks for those who haven't gotten theirs yet. :(

Someone please PM me his contact information. I am going to contact his local police and push this as far as I can. This is the 2nd time Ive been burned since Ive been here. Thats way too many times.

I'm with you, I have his Paypal email address if you need that. I am going to contact his local police as well so if you get the address, please PM me as well.

Edit- His paypal email address is no longer working. Looks like he has gone south.

Ive got all that info too (I didnt know the email didnt work anymore though). But if I do get the info Ill let you know bro. Its not looking good for us to get our stuff. Looks like hes going to have to deal with this the hard way.

I don't want to shit on you guys, particularly the guy who has been burned twice, but it sounds like you guys have taken way too long getting Shrike involved, and it also sounds like you guys got greedy, even realizing that there was a chance that what you were buying was stolen well before negotiations with the seller were complete.

Call me crazy, but it sounds like you've reaped what you sowed.

funny how it says trade time out. maybe he went on the time out and just put all the ipods he had to ship out aside?

I think his user title was changed by an admin or mod so that people know not to trade with him.

This kind of thing seems to be happening every couple of months here on CAG and the last time this happened it seemed to just kind of fade away without the con artist getting what he deserved, hopefully it ends better this time!

I saw a couple people with good feedback here got their Ipods so I jumped in. Then I saw even more people got their stuff so I got a second one. I think I did everything I could have done to limit the risk of getting burned....Guess not
At least for you guys that used paypal, have you taken it to them or your credit card company?
Took it to paypal but I doubt this guy even has any cash in his account.

I filed a claim with Paypal as well. Would really like to get his address so we could contact the local police department in his area. Has anyone got the address yet. Come on, someone help us out.

Maybe he got busted stealing more and is now sitting behind bars?

Regardless, I hope he ends up winning a free rectal exam from Bubba Longdong.

Add me to the list of people that have been ripped off by this guy.

I had one successful transaction with him, so I assumed I'd be OK to order one for my friend. Big mistake. He hasn't replied to any of PMs and his gmail account is definitely dead.

That was my second purchase (for friends) and now I have to explain why they are getting the iPods.

Also, does anyone that received a package from him still have their packaging? We might be able to pull his address from it.

Unless, of course, someone already has it and can post to this thread.

I'd seen enough feedback go through without issue on Minder to think that there wasn't an issue, when this was brought to my attention earlier, before things went south. I didn't see any obvious signs like from the previous times we had this kind of a problem with TMACDaddy, where something was too good with what he was offering. Minder didn't show any signs of it from his feedback or what he was selling, so there was nothing to send off any red flags. Now, there's plenty of them.

At this point, all I can suggest doing is that get the local police involved, and do it en-masse, as this worked with another situation that had someone trying to screw over multiple CAGs.

Some helpful info:

Not sure if this is correct -
Chris Minder
5222 W. Moni? Ln. (maybe it's Moui or Maui)
defintely M ? ? i
Glendale, AZ 85306
That makes some sense, as the phone # found by someone else is a 602-number, which is around the Phoenix/Tempe area, and most of his Internet connections to CAG are coming from the Phoenix area.

Running the above address through Mapquest brings up 5222 W. Maui Lane as the address:

http://www.mapquest.com/maps/map.adp?formtype=address&addtohistory=&address=5222%20W%20Maui%20Ln&city=Glendale&state=AZ&zipcode=85306%2d3431&country=US&geodiff=1
just saw this thread and just so happens that i do have the shipping box still and the above address is correct...and it is Maui ln. ...such a shame this is happening:cry: glad i decided against that video card

I just gave that piece of shit a call. He "claims" to have shipped them off this past Thursday (which is funny because he claimed to have sent them late April at first, then claimed to have sent them last Monday) and says since we didn't pay for tracking, it is out of his hands. I told him that we will be pressing charges with the Glendale Police Department which I fully intend to do if I don't receive my iPod by tomorrow (which should be plenty of time if he did mail them on Thursday). To which he replied, "That's fine man."

I found his info online and it matches with the info in this thread. The address that he mailed from belongs to:

Doris J. Minder (a woman answered which sounds like his mom)
5222 West Maui Lane
Glendale, AZ 85306

His phone number which I can confirm is the following:

602-504-9514

If we don't hear from him or get our merchandise, all 5 or 6 of us need to contact the Glendale Police Department together as Shrike suggested.

Jesus, this is so sketchy.

"Personal problems" aside, exactly how many 40+ sets of iPods has this guy gone through selling here? And were the first few batches traded successfully?

Or was it just a few that actually got sold, then the "personal problems" started up?

While he could actually be an honest, decent guy who just happens to be going through honest to goodness personal problems that are impeding his ability to trade at the moment, all the details of this case remind me of the old saying "if a deal looks too good to be true, it probably is".

This guy, if he actually does still have and is planning to send out the latest iPods, is probably either connected to a fencing/stolen goods operation (maybe even 'organized crime'/mafioso ring) that is jacking cases/pallets of iPods somewhere, or...

He has a connection to them cheap because these units (or their packaging)are beat up in transit and can't be sold at retail shops, so they get heavily discounted and sold in bulk.

Or he's just lying and scamming after setting up good trading feedback.
